Apple has agreed to a settlement worth over $250 million to resolve a lawsuit alleging it misled millions of iPhone buyers by overstating the availability of its AI-powered Siri features in late 2024.
The case mainly concerns users who purchased iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 series devices in the US between June 2024 and March 2025. As part of the proposed settlement, eligible users may receive compensation estimated between $25 and $95 per device.
According to reports cited by BBC and Reuters, Apple stated that it has reached an agreement to resolve claims related to the availability of certain advertised features, adding that the decision was made to stay focused on delivering products and services.
The lawsuit alleged that Apple’s 2024 marketing campaign promoted advanced AI-driven Siri capabilities that were not actually available at launch, influencing consumer demand during the iPhone rollout. While Apple has agreed to settle, it has not admitted any wrongdoing.
The settlement has been submitted to a US federal court for preliminary approval. It currently covers nearly 36 million eligible devices. Judge Noel Wise is scheduled to review the agreement, with a formal hearing set for June 17, 2026, in the Northern District of California.
Meanwhile, Apple’s long-awaited Siri upgrade has still not been fully rolled out, with delays extending beyond two years. However, the company is expected to push forward its AI roadmap through upcoming iOS updates, including iOS 27, which may bring deeper integration of advanced AI features.
Apple’s broader AI strategy is also evolving, with continued investment in foundational models and partnerships aimed at strengthening its generative AI capabilities. More clarity on its future plans is expected at WWDC 2026.
