There is no denying that Nandamuri Balakrishna is currently the most consistent senior hero in Tollywood. He stands out as the only veteran actor delivering back-to-back box office hits, solidifying his position as a bankable star.
His latest film, Daaku Maharaaj, has turned out to be his biggest hit to date, reportedly grossing around ₹160 crore. This marks Balayya’s fourth consecutive success at the box office. However, despite this impressive streak, one crucial milestone still eludes him—a ₹200 crore blockbuster.
While his films comfortably cross the ₹100 crore mark, they tend to see a sharp drop in collections soon after. Daaku Maharaaj followed the same trend, showing strong initial numbers but struggling to sustain momentum beyond a certain point. In contrast, Megastar Chiranjeevi has managed to achieve two ₹200 crore grossers with Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya, with Khaidi No. 150 coming close to the mark.
A key reason for this difference could be Balakrishna’s relatively lower appeal among the family audience. Family-oriented films often enjoy a longer theatrical run, as seen with Venkatesh Daggubati’s Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, which thrived due to strong family viewership.
While Balakrishna’s action-packed mass entertainers continue to draw crowds, expanding his reach to family audiences could be the key to unlocking the ₹200 crore club. Exploring more family-friendly scripts alongside his trademark action films might help him achieve that elusive milestone.
