G Neelakanta Reddy’s Bhumika Chawla, Laya and Sivaji starrer Missamma has completed 17 years of release.
Bhumika reminisced about the memories associated with the film. After scoring hits in films like Okkadu and Simhadri, Bhumika surprised fans in 2003 when she opted for the film. But her role received such love, she even bagged a Nandi award for Best Actress – Female that year. Sharing old posters of the film, Bhumika wrote on her social media, “Missamma completed 17 years yesterday – 28-11-2020 … ( a day late in sharing this. It’s been an incredible experience and all the love I have received from so many of you all #Missamma — heartfelt thanks from Missamma.” (sic)
In the film, Bhumika played the role of a strict boss in a corporate setup while Sivaji played an ambitious employee who works under her. His role as Nanda Gopal was also lauded by critics back when the film was made. Laya played the role of his wife in the film. Missamma’s music by Vandemataram Srinivas was received well and actors like Tanikella Bharani, L.B Sriram and MS Narayana too played crucial roles in the movie.
Bhumika Chawla last played a key role in Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer Ruler which released last year. She is also essaying a role in Gopichand and Tamannaah Bhatia’s upcoming Seetimarr, shooting for which is currently in progress in Hyderabad. The film will be a Kabaddi based sports drama and Sampath Nandi is directing the flick. Further details are awaited.
