Telugu Box Office: Sree Vishnu’s Single Opens Strong; Samantha’s Shubham Sees Modest Start
After a considerable hiatus from Telugu cinema, Samantha marked her return—this time as a producer—with Shubham, a horror-comedy that hit screens on Friday. Released alongside Sree Vishnu’s romantic entertainer Single, both films faced off at the box office amid ongoing challenges in the national landscape.
Shubham opened to modest numbers, grossing ₹1.5 crore on its first day, as per an official statement from the film’s team. Despite an aggressive promotional campaign led by Samantha herself and a wave of positive word of mouth, the film’s opening was relatively subdued. This suggests that while Samantha’s return generated interest, it did not immediately convert into substantial footfalls.
In contrast, Single enjoyed a robust start, grossing ₹4.15 crore on Day 1. The film’s lighthearted romantic narrative and strong pre-release buzz appear to have resonated well with audiences, positioning it as the weekend frontrunner.
Adding to the theatrical mix was the re-release of Chiranjeevi’s iconic fantasy drama Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, which collected an impressive ₹1.75 crore, underscoring the timeless appeal of the Megastar’s classics.
With the weekend ahead, Single looks poised to build on its momentum, while Shubham remains hopeful for an uptick driven by encouraging word of mouth.
