In the wake of Operation Sindoor, India’s strong retaliatory response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the Telugu film industry has risen in solidarity with the Indian armed forces. As patriotic fervor sweeps the nation, a powerful reminder from the past has resurfaced—a heartfelt open letter by legendary actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) during the 1965 India-Pakistan war.

The war, which spanned from August 5 to September 22, 1965, concluded with the Tashkent Agreement, mediated by international powers. During this critical period, NTR transcended his cinematic persona to play a pivotal role in mobilizing public sentiment and resources for the country. Deeply moved by the valor of Indian soldiers, he launched a statewide campaign to raise funds for the National Defense Fund, organizing demonstrations across key locations in Andhra Pradesh.

In his passionate appeal, NTR wrote:
“I have decided to hold demonstrations in important centers of Andhra Pradesh to raise funds for the defense of the country in support of the brave soldiers who are sacrificing their lives in a fierce battle against the evil enemy for our security and for the honor of the country. I am confident that the support of my fans, the blessings of the entire Andhra people, and the support of our industry will make this a success.”

Today, as history echoes through social media, this iconic letter has gone viral, resonating with a new generation. Drawing inspiration from such acts of patriotic commitment, leading figures in the industry are stepping forward once again.

Notably, veteran producer Allu Aravind announced that a portion of the revenue from the upcoming film #Single will be donated to support the welfare of Indian soldiers. Actor Vijay Deverakonda has also pledged his contribution to the Indian Army, further reinforcing the industry’s collective resolve.

In times of national crisis, the Telugu film fraternity continues to uphold a legacy of unity, compassion, and unwavering patriotism—proving that cinema, beyond entertainment, can serve as a powerful force for national solidarity.
