Chiranjeevi Predicts National Award for Dhanush

A few months ago, the National Film Awards for the year 2024 were announced, and the next round of awards is still some time away — expected to be declared in early 2025. However, Megastar Chiranjeevi seems to have already made up his mind on who deserves the next Best Actor award. During the success celebrations of Kuberaa, where he attended as the chief guest, Chiranjeevi showered Tamil actor Dhanush with high praise, even declaring him as the deserving recipient of the next National Award for Best Actor.

Chiranjeevi remarked that while someone like him would celebrate getting a National Award, for Dhanush, it’s almost a routine. “Even so,” he said, “if Dhanush doesn’t win the Best Actor award for Kuberaa, then there’s no meaning to the National Awards.”

He was especially impressed by Dhanush’s portrayal of the character Deva. “No one else could have played that role with such depth,” Chiranjeevi said. “Only Dhanush could do justice to it. I don’t know if Sekhar Kammula wrote the role with Dhanush in mind, or if he cast him later — but I wouldn’t be surprised if the character was tailor-made for him.”

Chiranjeevi also had words of praise for Nagarjuna, who played a morally conflicted role in the film. He stated that Nagarjuna delivered a brilliant performance and that Kuberaa could mark a turning point in his career, opening doors to more diverse and challenging roles. Chiranjeevi added that watching Nagarjuna inspired him to attempt similar roles himself.

Speaking about director Sekhar Kammula, Chiranjeevi said he was proud of how far he had come. Recalling how Kammula once said he was inspired by Chiranjeevi at the age of 18, the Megastar expressed happiness in seeing him grow into such a respected filmmaker today.
