In a strong response to ongoing political narratives being circulated by the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) regarding his frequent trips to Delhi, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy addressed the Telangana Assembly today to clarify his stance. The BRS has been criticizing Reddy’s regular visits to the national capital, focusing on his use of special flights, implying a lavish and unnecessary expenditure.
In his statement, the Chief Minister emphasized that his trips to Delhi were primarily aimed at addressing critical global projects being developed in Hyderabad. “The reason I am going to Delhi frequently is to sort out the global team projects that are being carried out in Hyderabad. I’m meeting the Prime Minister and the External Affairs Minister to facilitate the progress of these global initiatives. For instance, just last week, I met Minister Jaishankar to discuss arrangements for the global summits and the upcoming Miss World competition, which will see representatives from over 140 countries,” Reddy explained.
He also addressed concerns regarding his travel methods, asserting that he had always opted for commercial flights and traveled alongside the general public. “I have never taken chartered flights to Delhi except on one or two occasions. I travel on commercial airlines, purchasing tickets at nominal prices, unlike KCR and his associates, who have been known to misuse allowances through special flights. I am keeping it simple,” Reddy clarified.
The BRS and its affiliated media outlets have been closely monitoring and reporting on the frequency of Revanth Reddy’s Delhi visits, specifically targeting the issue of flight tickets to portray the Chief Minister in an unflattering light. Today’s clarification from Reddy sought to counter these allegations and shed light on the true purpose of his travels, reaffirming his commitment to his state’s development and international engagement.
