Malavika Mohanan Opens Up on Loneliness and Next Big Films with Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi

South sensation Malavika Mohanan, who has steadily built a strong presence across multiple film industries, has now revealed the emotional moment when she last broke down in tears.
During an Instagram Ask Me Anything session with her fans, the actress was asked about the last time she cried. Responding candidly, Malavika shared that it happened while she was in Chennai for an extended work schedule.
“I think it was when I was in Chennai last month for work. I was there for a prolonged period. While my team is lovely, staying away from home, family, and loved ones for a long time can start feeling very lonely,” she said.
She further explained that the emotional strain gradually built up during her stay. “Just coming back to your hotel room and not having anyone to talk to at the end of the day… it started getting to me. It wasn’t dramatic crying, but I definitely went into a low phase,” she added.
The actress also spoke about her upcoming Tamil project with Vijay Sethupathi, expressing excitement about being part of a creatively driven film. “I’m currently working on a Tamil film with Vijay Sethupathi sir, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja, who I feel is one of the best filmmakers of our generation. The shoot is going really well. It’s called Pocket Novel and is expected to release this year. I can’t wait for everyone to see it,” she said.
Apart from Pocket Novel, Malavika will also be seen in the spy thriller Sardar 2, directed by P.S. Mithran and starring Karthi. She praised both the director and her co-star, calling the experience “a mad ride” and expressing gratitude for the opportunity.
“@Karthi_Offl, you’ve been an absolute gem to work with. @Psmithran, thank you for making me part of this project. It’s something very different from what I’ve done before. See you in cinemas soon,” she added.
