Highcourt vs TRS govt .. things getting heated up in Telangana

This has been the story in Telangana state for the past few months. Right from getting serious on low numbers of COVID-19 testing to issuing a stay on the demolition of the old secretariat, the Telangana High Court has been bashing KCR’s government to all parts. Added negligence and care-free nature of the TRS government is heating up the things in Telangana.

Even after repeated warnings from the Telangana High Court, there has been no significant development seen in the testing process. Now, the High court expressed its disappointment on the behavior of the TS government towards the COVID patients, suspects, and the common people as well. They just questioned the transparency of the KCR government in this COVID issue.

Chief Justice RS Chauhan and Justice B Vijayasamy on Tuesday heard a public interest litigation filed separately by Dr. R Srinivasan and Shiva Ganesh Karnataka seeking recognition of teaching hospitals as Covid hospitals and setting up of dashboards detailing beds. Dr. Srinivasa Rao, Director, Department of Public Health and Family Welfare, and Dr. Ramesh Reddy, Director, Medical Education were present at the hearing.

Now, the High court gave no chance for the Telangana government to raise their voice against this issue being fed up with their negligence. They just ordered the government to conduct COVID-19 confirmatory tests at Gandhi Hospital at any cost and said that the government should mention the number of beds available in the daily health bulletin issued and the type of beds vacant in various hospitals should be published in regional journals in Hindi, Telugu as well as in English journals published and in all journals in Hyderabad.

Going on, they ordered the government to set up dashboards in which the details of the vacant beds, vacant beds with oxygen and ventilator facility, normal beds available at Gandhi and Osmania hospitals so that the patients will get to know about the availability of beds in various hospitals and will make a decision according to their convenience.

So, Telangana government will definitely go restless to do all these things but we have to wait to see whether KCR has different plans. Every time he didn’t take the court’s words seriously and sometimes he countered their orders verbally without filing a counter-petition. Now, these orders from the court might irk him so that there is a high possibility for a face-off between the court and KCR.
