Iran Mocks Trump’s Peace Deal Claims

Amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, Iran’s state broadcaster has mocked remarks made by Donald Trump regarding a possible peace deal with Iran. Responding sarcastically to Trump’s claims that an agreement could bring benefits like “free oil” and access to the Strait of Hormuz, the broadcaster dismissed the comments as unrealistic, comparing them to “building castles in the air.”

The response also referenced a Persian proverb to underline its skepticism, suggesting that such expectations are more fantasy than reality. The sharp reaction highlights the continuing distrust between the two sides, even as diplomatic signals emerge.

Earlier, Trump had expressed optimism about ongoing negotiations, stating that Iran had agreed not to pursue nuclear weapons and was willing to hand over its enriched uranium stockpile. He described the potential agreement as “very good” and indicated that another round of talks could take place as early as the weekend.

Speaking at a press briefing, Trump suggested that the proposed deal could extend for over two decades, adding that Tehran had “agreed to almost everything” within the framework. He reiterated that there was a strong possibility of a positive outcome, emphasizing that discussions were progressing smoothly.

On the issue of extending the ceasefire, Trump remained uncertain, saying it might not be necessary if both sides move quickly toward an agreement. He also hinted that the next round of US-Iran talks could be held soon, potentially over the weekend.

In a notable remark, Trump added that if the agreement were to be signed in Islamabad, he might personally attend the event, signaling the importance he attaches to the potential deal.

Despite the optimistic tone from the US side, Iran’s reaction suggests that significant gaps remain, and any final agreement may still face considerable challenges.
