Jagan Mulls Hyderabad Shift Amid Bengaluru Base Criticism

After serving as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy shifted his base to Bengaluru following the 2024 electoral defeat. Since then, he has largely been residing at his Yelahanka residence, traveling to Andhra Pradesh only periodically.

However, recent media reports suggest that Jagan is now considering a possible move to Hyderabad. The idea, reportedly, is to operate from his residence at Lotus Pond in Banjara Hills, which could offer better accessibility for party leaders and political activities.

This speculation comes amid criticism from political circles about Jagan managing Andhra Pradesh politics while being based out of Bengaluru. Additionally, his current residence is said to be relatively inaccessible even to members of the YSR Congress Party, which has added to the concerns.

Shifting to Hyderabad could help Jagan counter the narrative of being distanced from state politics. It may also provide a more central and convenient base, as several Andhra Pradesh leaders and political figures frequently operate from Hyderabad.

However, the move is not without complications. The Lotus Pond residence is reportedly shared with his sister, Y. S. Sharmila, with whom he has ongoing personal and legal disputes. Sharmila has openly criticized Jagan, alleging issues related to property matters linked to their late father, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. There are also legal proceedings reportedly underway, which could make such an arrangement difficult.

At this stage, these developments remain speculative, with no official confirmation from Jagan. A clearer picture will emerge only if he makes a definitive move from Bengaluru to Hyderabad.
