Kollywood star Suriya’s recently released Jai Bhim has received a tremendous response from all over the country and the film even topped the IMBd’s all time ratings, suppressing The Shawshank Redemption.
However, a few scenes in Jai Bhim didn’t go well with Vanniyar Sangam and they now issued a legal notice to Suriya, Jyotika, Amazon Prime Video and director TJ Gnanavel seeking an unconditional apology and demanding removal of scenes from the film.
In the notice, they mentioned that certain scenes in Jai Bhim were conceptualised to defame the Vanniyar community. They asked the movie team to give an unconditional apology for damaging the reputation of the Vanniyar community within 24 hours. The notice asked the team to pay Rs 5 crore within 7 days from the time and date of receipt of this notice.
Suriya, however, issued a statement refuting the claims. “I’m only doing my part to make sure that the life of a fellow human is uplifted. I have support from people from all walks of life across the country. I don’t have to defame anyone for mere advertisement. Let us fight in our own paths for social equality and brotherhood,” said Suriya.
