
Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is roaring at the box office with sensational numbers. The film has maintained a phenomenal hold through its opening weekend, collecting close to its day-one figures on Sunday and taking its total to a whopping ₹223.25 crore across all languages.
On Sunday alone, the mythological action drama raked in ₹61 crore, matching its ₹61.85 crore opening day collection across Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam markets. According to Sacnilk, by Saturday, the Kannada version had earned ₹47.6 crore, while the Hindi version showed exceptional growth, minting ₹50.5 crore at the domestic box office.
Mounted on a massive ₹125 crore budget, Kantara Chapter 1 has already shattered multiple records, becoming the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025 so far.
Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, who also co-wrote the story with Anirudh Mahesh and Shanil Guru, the film features Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles.
Serving as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, this chapter dives deeper into the mystical folklore that captivated audiences worldwide. Notably, Rishab Shetty had earlier bagged the National Award for Best Actor (2024) for Kantara, which also won the Best Popular Film award.
