Former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), who has largely remained at his farmhouse since the 2023 electoral defeat, made a rare public appearance today at Telangana Bhavan, Hyderabad. He chaired a crucial meeting with BRS representatives and party leadership, discussing the future course of action for the party.
During his speech, KCR expressed strong confidence in the upcoming by-elections, particularly in constituencies where BRS MLAs defected to Congress. He urged party cadres to be well-prepared for the electoral battle. Additionally, he revealed that once district delimitation is completed, BRS will reserve 53 seats for women, assuming the state assembly expands to 160 seats.
KCR also set key targets for party leaders, instructing them to focus on strengthening the party institutionally and intensifying the membership registration drive to enhance grassroots outreach. He emphasized the need for a more structured approach in rebuilding the party’s strength.
However, the event at Telangana Bhavan was not without its moments of frustration. As enthusiastic supporters chanted “CM, CM” and caused disruptions, KCR appeared visibly annoyed and firmly instructed them to maintain discipline during such meetings.
While his presence has given a much-needed morale boost to BRS cadres, concerns remain over his inconsistent public appearances. Since the electoral loss, KCR has been making occasional visits every few months, only to retreat back to his farmhouse—possibly due to health reasons. Despite the active presence of KTR and Harish Rao at the ground level, many believe that KCR must take the lead for the party’s long-term survival. The coming months will be crucial in determining whether he will sustain his engagement or continue his reclusive approach.
