Manchu Manoj, who entered the industry as the heir of veteran actor Mohan Babu, carved a unique space for himself with experimental films and versatile performances. However, in recent years, Manoj’s career faced an unexpected gap, despite his constant attempts to bounce back. A few films were announced but never took off, and even his recent outing Bhairava failed to deliver the desired results.
Now, with the release of Mirai, Manoj has finally tasted the much-awaited success he was longing for. Directed by Karthik Gattamneni and starring Teja Sajja in the lead, the film features Manoj in a crucial role. Released on September 12, Mirai opened to sensational numbers, collecting ₹27 crore worldwide on Day 1, leading the makers to host a grand success meet.
Speaking at the event, Manoj turned emotional, saying, “It feels like a dream. After 12 long years, success has finally come my way. Even though I’ve been receiving countless congratulatory calls, it still feels unreal.”
He revealed that many of his earlier projects were canceled at the last moment, which left him with a sense of fear and uncertainty despite putting on a brave face in public. Manoj credited director Karthik for trusting him and offering him Mirai, saying, “Karthik didn’t just support me; he stood by my family as well. I’ll remain indebted to him for life.”
He also expressed gratitude to producer TG Vishwa Prasad for backing the project and removing his long-standing fears about his career. “I always had a fear if I could provide a secure future for my children, but Karthik gave me the confidence to overcome that,” Manoj said.
Having impressed audiences as Mahaveer Lama in Mirai, Manoj promised that he would now continue doing back-to-back films to entertain his fans and rebuild his career momentum.
