Director Maruti, known for his knack for commercial entertainers, is one of the most capable and seasoned directors in Tollywood. He has a strong reputation for delivering mass-friendly hits. However, his current challenge is working with pan-India superstar Prabhas on the much-anticipated film Raja Saab.
The project was announced several months ago and has remained in the production phase ever since. Right from the start, there were questions about whether Maruti, despite his success in the commercial space, could handle a star of Prabhas’s stature in his first collaboration with the actor.
Maruti initially appeared confident and professional, promising a winning commercial film. But as things stand, the reality has been more complex. Even after months of production, there is no teaser release, and delays continue. Compounding the situation is Prabhas’s current vacation in Italy, which has paused any immediate progress.
Reports suggest that Prabhas has advised the team to improve the film’s quality before he rejoins the shoot. He wants the project to meet certain standards and will only return to sets once satisfied with the progress. This has put added pressure on Maruti, who is now racing against time to elevate the film’s output while staying within the superstar’s expectations.
Despite these hurdles, Maruti’s experience in commercial cinema could be the key to getting things back on track. He reportedly needs around 50 working days with Prabhas to wrap up the shoot and steer the project toward a year-end release. With his clarity in vision and execution, the hope is that Raja Saab will regain momentum and deliver on its promise.
