Actress Meena recently opened up about her late friend Soundarya, sharing a personal memory she had kept private for years. During an interview with actor Jagapathi Babu on the show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa, Meena revealed that she had been invited to travel with Soundarya to Andhra Pradesh in 2004.
Soundarya and her brother Amarnath were scheduled to attend a BJP election campaign when their plane tragically crashed near Bengaluru, claiming both their lives. Reflecting on the incident, Meena said, “The news of Soundarya’s death was a big shock. I have not fully recovered from it even after all these years.”
Meena shared that she had declined the invitation due to her disinterest in politics, stating, “I was supposed to go with Soundarya, but I said I had a shoot. I was very sad when I heard what happened.”
Speaking about their friendship, Meena described Soundarya as “a wonderful person and very talented,” adding that their professional rivalry was always healthy. The two actresses had worked together in several films, and Soundarya’s sudden passing left a significant void in Telugu cinema. Reports indicate that she was pregnant at the time of the accident.
Meena’s heartfelt recollection reminds fans of the strong bond she shared with Soundarya and the tragic impact of her untimely death on the film industry.
