My Successor Will Take Care Of Parishad Elections: Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar

The Andhra Pradesh government, which wants the commencement of the Parishad elections at the earliest has knocked on the doors of the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking directives for the early polls.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court heard a bunch of petitions on Tuesday and opined that there is no urgency for early Parishad elections and directed SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar to give his explanation in this regard.

Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar said that he will not be able to hold the Parishad elections as he will retire on March 31st, a few days from now.

“My successor will take care of the Parishad elections. Despite the Corona impact, we have managed to hold the Local Body elections and Civic body elections effectively. The Police and Election staff worked hard to make this happen,” SEC said.

Adding further, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar maintained that candidates can complain over the unanimous polls in MPTC and ZPTC elections. If the candidates were forced to take back their nominations, they can complain to the returning officers, he said.

In the order, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar maintained that he has issued the orders as per the earlier directives he received from the Andhra Pradesh High Court over the Parishad elections.
