The controversy surrounding the song ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ has taken a fresh turn, with the National Commission for Women scheduling a hearing in the matter and summoning actress-dancer Nora Fatehi. She has been asked to appear before the Commission on May 7 at 11:30 AM.

Earlier in March, the NCW had issued notices to Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt, lyricist Raqueeb Alam, producer Venkat K. Narayana, and director Kiran Kumar after taking suo motu cognisance of complaints related to the song.

According to the Commission, the content of the track was allegedly “sexually suggestive and objectionable,” potentially violating provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the IT Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act). The NCW stated that it had taken the matter seriously following widespread criticism over the song’s lyrics and visuals.

The controversy erupted soon after the release of the song featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, with several groups and individuals accusing the makers of promoting vulgarity and objectifying women. Multiple complaints were reportedly filed demanding strict action against the creators and seeking removal of the track from public platforms.

Amid the growing backlash, the Union Government later confirmed that ‘Sarke Chunari’ had been banned. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the decision in the Lok Sabha while responding to a query raised by Samajwadi Party MP Anand Bhadouria.
