TDP president and former Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu who flew down from Hyderabad to Amaravati on Saturday to call on the arrested party leader and MLA K Atchen Naidu failed in his mission.
The officials of the state prisons department rejected his application seeking permission to meet Atchen Naidu in Guntur General Hospital, where the latter was admitted for treatment.
Atchen Naidu, who was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau authorities on Friday in connection with his alleged involvement in the multi-crore Employment State Insurance scam, was produced before the magistrate sometime around 2 am on Saturday and was remanded to judicial custody for two weeks.
Naidu who rushed from Hyderabad to Guntur in the afternoon made an application to the jails department authorities for permission to meet Atchen Naidu, who was admitted in the hospital following an order from the magistrate.
However, the authorities rejected his plea in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic. They said no permission was being given to anybody to enter GGH because of Covid-19 situation.
Having no other option, Naidu called up Guntur General Hospital superintendent to make a special request but the latter politely told him to take permission from the magistrate. Since it was not possible, Naidu had to return to Amaravati without meeting Atchen Naidu.
