Tollywood actor and noted automobile enthusiast Naga Chaitanya Akkineni brought added glamour to the launch of a premium luxury car interior studio in Hyderabad, marking the brand’s official expansion into Telangana. Located at Irram Manzil Colony, the newly opened facility is the company’s second studio in India, following the success of its Chennai flagship.

Addressing the gathering, Naga Chaitanya spoke about his lifelong passion for automobiles, revealing that his fascination with cars dates back to his childhood. He noted that modern car buyers are increasingly prioritising comfort, interior design, and personalisation, making high-quality interiors an essential part of the overall driving experience rather than just an add-on.

Founded by Ashwath Suresh, the studio is backed by over four decades of expertise in premium leather manufacturing for leading global automotive brands. It offers a wide range of bespoke services, including luxury recliner seating systems, premium leather and Alcantara® interiors, steering wheel and dashboard customisation, star lighting, and advanced comfort upgrades that meet international luxury standards.

One of the standout features of the studio is its exclusive access to Alcantara®, the iconic Italian material widely used by supercar brands such as Ferrari and Lamborghini. The facility also benefits from engineering collaboration with Russia-based Martynov Brothers Seats (MBS), a globally renowned name in luxury seating systems. With this launch, Cetus Automotives aims to redefine automotive interior customisation in India, catering to the sophisticated preferences of luxury car owners and setting new benchmarks in the segment.

Vigilance Probe Ordered Into ₹4,000 Cr IDPL Land Row in Telangana

Share

The Congress-led Telangana government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered a detailed inquiry by the Vigilance and Enforcement Department into the controversial IDPL lands in Kukatpally, estimated to be worth nearly ₹4,000 crore. The decision comes amid an intense political confrontation involving Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao and Telangana Jagruthi president and MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, with both sides trading serious allegations of land encroachment.

The government has instructed officials to conduct a comprehensive probe into developments related to Survey No. 376 in Kukatpally to establish the facts surrounding the disputed land. Kavitha has accused Krishna Rao and his son of large-scale land grabbing, while the MLA has countered with allegations against Kavitha’s husband, Anil.

Escalating the matter further, Kavitha alleged that Krishna Rao, along with another MLC Pocharam Srinivas Reddy—whom she described as a proxy of BRS working president KTR—illegally converted industrial land into residential layouts during the previous BRS regime. According to her, large villas and apartment complexes were constructed after manipulating land-use permissions.

Kavitha also claimed that major irregularities occurred in real-estate ventures linked to Krishna Rao and his son. She alleged that a 10-acre water body was illegally shrunk to just six acres, with the remaining four acres encroached upon for commercial use. Describing the alleged activities as a “KGF-style real-estate empire,” she accused BRS leaders of systematically encroaching on public land.

With allegations flying thick and fast from both sides, the issue has generated significant political heat in Telangana. The state government’s decision to initiate a formal vigilance inquiry is expected to bring greater clarity to the controversy and could have major political and legal implications in the days ahead.

Addressing the allegation, Rakul posted a strong message on her Instagram story, calling it a “fraud alert.” She cautioned people against so-called doctors making claims without proper facts. Pawan Kalyan Gifts Luxury Car to OG Director Sujeeth

Share

For the first time in his career, Pawan Kalyan surprised everyone by gifting a luxury car to one of his directors. The gesture was made for Sujeeth, the director of They Call Him OG, and it instantly became a major talking point in Tollywood.

While Pawan Kalyan is known for openly praising his directors on stage, his bond with Sujeeth has clearly stood out. From the making of OG to its release and eventual success, their strong connection has been evident, and the luxury car gift only reinforced that special association.

Sujeeth managed to present Pawan Kalyan in a way fans had rarely seen before. At the film’s pre-release event, Pawan made a dramatic entry in full costume, holding a katana—something no other director had ever convinced him to do. Even at the success meet, Pawan appeared wielding a gun alongside Sujeeth and music director Thaman, later revealing that he did so purely out of affection for them.

During the success meet, Pawan spoke emotionally about his directorial film Johnny. He admitted that while he was once disappointed with its outcome, he now feels proud of having made it, as the film inspired Sujeeth to pursue a career in cinema. Pawan further remarked that with a team like Sujeeth’s, Johnny could have turned into a major success.

Pawan Kalyan also confirmed that he will be doing a sequel to OG, despite his demanding political and administrative responsibilities, largely driven by Sujeeth’s passion for filmmaking. The luxury car gift has further strengthened fans’ belief that Sujeeth earned this rare appreciation by giving Pawan deep emotional satisfaction as an actor.

They Call Him OG went on to collect around ₹300 crore at the box office, emerging as the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2025. The film starred Priyanka Mohan, Emraan Hashmi, Arjun Das, and Shriya Reddy, with music composed by Thaman and production by DVV Entertainments.

Google Announces Multi-Million Dollar AI Investments to Power India’s Digital Growth

Share

Google on Tuesday unveiled a series of high-impact collaborations and funding initiatives at the “Lab to Impact” dialogue, held in partnership with the India AI Impact Summit 2026, reinforcing its long-term commitment to India’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.

The technology giant announced multi-million-dollar investments spanning healthcare, education, startups, sustainability, and India’s Digital Public Infrastructure, aimed at accelerating the country’s AI-led development.

A key highlight was Google’s decision to invest $400,000 in building India’s Health Foundation Model using MedGemma, in collaboration with AIIMS and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The model will initially focus on dermatology, enabling hospitals to better prioritise patients in outpatient departments. It will also help standardise medical records using the FHIR framework and map over 400,000 health facilities on Google Maps.

In the academic and research space, Google announced $8 million in funding for four AI Centres of Excellence at IISc Bengaluru, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Ropar. These centres will apply artificial intelligence to address challenges in non-communicable diseases, urban governance, education, and agriculture. Additionally, $2 million has been allocated to IIT Bombay to establish the Indic Language Technologies Research Hub, strengthening AI development across India’s diverse languages.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the Centres of Excellence represent a coordinated national research mission focused on foundational research, responsible AI, and public-interest applications aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

To boost India’s startup and developer ecosystem, Google announced $50,000 each in funding for AI startups Gnani.AI, CoRover.AI, and BharatGen to advance Indic language models. The company has also uploaded 22 Gemma models to AIKosh, India’s open AI platform. Further, Google committed $4.5 million to Wadhwani AI to develop multilingual AI tools such as HealthVaani and Garuda, delivered through the AgriVaani agriculture advisory platform.

In line with its sustainability goals, Google also partnered with ReNew Energy to launch a 150 MW solar power project in Rajasthan, which will help power Google’s operations using clean energy and reduce the carbon footprint associated with AI infrastructure.

According to research shared at the event, these combined initiatives could help India save nearly ₹390 billion annually in healthcare costs. Commenting on the broader vision, Dr Manish Gupta, Senior Research Director at Google DeepMind, said the company’s full-stack approach—from foundational research to large-scale deployment—positions India to emerge as a global leader in AI-driven innovation.

Canada Revamps Citizenship-by-Descent Rules, Easing Path for Families Abroad

Share

Canada has formally overhauled its citizenship-by-descent framework, ending years of legal uncertainty and opening the door for thousands of people living overseas to be recognised as Canadian citizens. With Bill C-3 now in force, the reforms redefine who qualifies for citizenship and how ties to Canada are established—changes expected to have a significant impact on globally mobile communities, including families of Indian origin.

The federal government said the amendments are designed to make citizenship law “fair, clear and reflective of how Canadian families live today, both in and outside Canada.” The legislation, officially titled An Act to Amend the Citizenship Act (2025), came into effect on Monday and follows court rulings that found key provisions of the previous law unconstitutional.

Who becomes a citizen now?

Under the new law, individuals born before December 15, 2025, who would have been Canadian citizens but were excluded due to the first-generation limit or other legacy restrictions, are now legally recognised as citizens.

Crucially, those covered by this change can apply for proof of citizenship without submitting a new citizenship application, reducing administrative hurdles for affected individuals and families.

What changes going forward

The amendments also establish a new, forward-looking pathway for citizenship by descent. Canadian parents who were themselves born or adopted outside Canada may now pass citizenship to children born or adopted abroad—provided they can demonstrate a “substantial connection” to Canada.

This connection is defined as at least three years of physical residence in Canada before the child’s birth or adoption. According to the government, the requirement strikes a balance between fairness to families living abroad and the principle that citizenship should be rooted in genuine ties to the country.

Legal background

Canada’s first Citizenship Act of 1947 included provisions that caused many individuals to lose or never acquire citizenship. Amendments in 2009 and 2015 restored citizenship to most of these so-called “Lost Canadians,” prompting around 20,000 people to seek proof of citizenship.

However, the first-generation limit remained in place until December 2023, when the Ontario Superior Court of Justice ruled that key sections of the Citizenship Act were unconstitutional. The federal government chose not to appeal, acknowledging that the law had produced “unacceptable outcomes for children of Canadians born outside the country.”

Why this matters for Indians abroad

India is one of Canada’s largest source countries for migrants, students and skilled professionals. Thousands of Canadians of Indian origin live and raise families outside Canada, including in India itself.

For these families, the revised rules could be transformative. Children born abroad who were previously excluded under the first-generation limit may now qualify for citizenship—particularly where parents can demonstrate meaningful ties to Canada through residence, employment, education or long-term settlement.

Those born before the December 15, 2025 cut-off may also now be formally recognised as citizens and obtain official documentation.

What applicants should know

With the amended law now in effect, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will process citizenship certificate applications under the new framework. Applicants who filed requests under interim measures do not need to reapply.

The government has advised individuals seeking clarity to consult the Citizenship section of IRCC’s official website, where additional operational guidance is expected.

Padayappa Re-Release Falls Short of Ghilli’s Record

Share

To mark the 75th birthday of Superstar Rajinikanth, his iconic blockbuster Padayappa was re-released in theatres with special promotions aimed at drawing audiences back to cinemas. While the re-release was received positively and performed decently by re-release standards, it could not surpass the record collections set by Thalapathy Vijay’s Ghilli.

Despite being termed a success among re-releases, Padayappa fell short of expectations and failed to create new benchmarks. Ghilli continues to hold the record as the highest-grossing South Indian re-release with ₹30 crore, a figure that now appears out of reach for Padayappa as its theatrical run is nearing completion.

During a promotional interaction, Rajinikanth hinted at a possible sequel focusing on the iconic Neelambari character, which generated strong buzz in Tamil film circles. Many believed that this curiosity, combined with Rajinikanth’s unparalleled fan base, would propel the re-release to record-breaking numbers, much like his earlier films that defied box-office trends even amid mixed reception. However, those expectations did not translate into historic collections.

One major factor could be the decision to restrict the re-release largely to Tamil Nadu. A simultaneous Telugu re-release might have significantly boosted revenues, given the film’s enduring popularity across South India. With its run now nearing the end, Padayappa is expected to settle for a respectable, though not record-breaking, performance in the re-release market.

Directed by KS Ravi Kumar and produced by Arunachala Cine Creations, Padayappa features music by A. R. Rahman, with Ramya Krishnan and Soundarya playing the female leads.

Delimitation Likely Before 2029 Elections, Amit Shah Signals Revised Seats

Share

Contrary to earlier reports suggesting that an increase in Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana may not be feasible before the 2029 elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has indicated otherwise. He has reportedly signalled that elections could be held with a revised number of seats, following the completion of the delimitation exercise.

According to reports from New Delhi, Amit Shah has categorically informed a group of MPs who met him on Monday that the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies will be completed before the next general elections. This effectively means that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will take place only after the delimitation process is finalised. Sources added that the same delimitation framework will also apply to Assembly elections.

During his interactions with Members of Parliament from various states, Amit Shah is said to have provided clarity on the Centre’s plans. He also assured that the nationwide census would be conducted within the stipulated timeline. The Union Cabinet has already approved the census, which is scheduled to be carried out in two phases.

Meanwhile, official sources indicate that preparatory work for the delimitation process has already begun. There is also a strong possibility that the exercise will factor in reservations for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and the implementation of 33 percent reservation for women.

As per Section 26(1) of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, Telangana’s Assembly strength is set to increase from 119 to 153 seats, while Andhra Pradesh’s Assembly strength will rise from 175 to a maximum of 225 seats. The Centre has maintained that the delimitation exercise must strictly adhere to constitutional provisions, including the 84th Constitutional Amendment, which froze constituency boundaries until the completion of the census conducted after 2026.
