Charan better than Mahesh?

Share

charan

We are not talking about their acting talent, rather its about their commitment to promote a film. Even though, GAV didn’t have a flying start, Ram Charan is promoting it aggressively and seen in every other channel, to lure in crowds by explaining the salient features of his different kind of attempt. Whereas, Mahesh didn’t strain himself  much to promote “Aagadu”, even though, it had a record breaking collections on first and second day and preferred the producers and director to handle it.

“Mahesh could have attended the routine TV promotional shows and definitely it would have drew crowds and reduce the margin of loss of distributors. Or Mahesh realized that even his personal promotion couldn’t save such a non-exciting content” asks a source. Apparently, this dasara viewers could see Charan is seen on various channels, while Mahesh stayed out. Personal promotion is key or not, please explain guys? –

Saraswathi Teacher Appreciated Me – RGV

Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma showed once again how to emerge winner by creating controversies and enjoying media focus on him. This time he set new trend. While in his earlier controversies he already started or finished shooting of his films, this time he courted controversy at the announcement of his film and its first look poster.

Ramu after deciding to come with a film titled Savitri, inspired by his own experiences with his English teacher Saraswathi, he just conducted a photo shoot with a model Geetanjali. The still created sensation as a small boy was shown looking at the beauty of the woman. From then on NGOs,women organisations blasted him. ABVP took protests and even burnt effigies and even AP State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has taken the case su moto. After all this hue and cry too Ramu remained undeterred inviting people to share their experiences with ‘Savitris’ in their lives and even gave website name naasavitri.com, promising to include them in his film.

Finally he had to change the title from Savitri to Sridevi as another producer already registered the title. RGV responding to thise controversies asked why should anyone object to the film. He said everyone has crush in their life and if they deny they are big hypocrites. He said even his Saraswathi teacher appreciated his boldness and didnot object to the film. He said he has right for freedom of expression and people have to decide whether to watch or not to watch the film. Ramu proved that no one can match him in creating controversies, making people think and scoring victories.

Prakash Tweets A Satire On Sreenu

Share

prakashraj

The brawl between ace director Sreenu Vytla and versatile actor Prakkash Raj seems to be ceaseless. As the director addressed media today along with his direction department to talk about Prakash’s histrionics and false claims, it triggered another spark.

As Prakash called Sreenu as shameless, our director too called him equally or more shameless as he dared to talk about a movie’s result and other controversial stuff.

Taking a strong exception to the claims made by Sreenu Vytla, actor Prakash Raj tweeted a ‘counter’ on his micro blogging site. “Kondaru mararu “thaati chettu kinda doriki poina vadni em chestunnav Ani adigithe paalu thaaguthunna ani chepyadanta” WORD!!”, said Prakash, throwing another satire on Sreenu Vytla.

Seems like, both Prakash and Sreenu Vytla should maintain poise over the issue.

‘Sridevi’ Takes ‘Savitri’s Place

Amidst the plethora of movies the eccentric genius Ram Gopal Varma is coming up with, his latest offering raised many eyebrows. Well, Ramu named his new venture as ‘Savitri’ and the stills from the film stumped the viewers. The story revolves around a kid entering teens and his fantasy towards a woman.

However, the latest update is that the title has been changed and from ‘Savitri’ RGV has changed it to ‘Sridevi’. Inside reports reveal ‘Savitri’ was a title registered by a producer long ago. The film chamber should not give the title to someone else when it is already registered by someone else.

For some reason they did it and now they realized their folly and cancelled it. That is how ‘Savitri’ became RGV’s ‘Sridevi’. So, if you are thinking that because few criticisms came that a good and respected name like ‘Savitri’ was polluted then be rest assured that RGV is least bothered about those comments and changed it due to the technical glitch.

Prakash Raj is Shameless – Sreenu Vytla

Share

srinu vitla

“I’ve terminated Prakash Raj from Aagadu not due to arrogance, but for self-respect. He has insulted an assistant director and scolded him with parliamentary language before everyone in broad daylight. Everyone knows the issue”, said Sreenu Vytla, while giving clarity over Prakash Raj’s accusations of the other day.

“Prakash should have that shame as he’s been busy publicizing about result of Aagadu”. We could recollect that Prakash accused Sreenu as shameless for copying his poem. “He dedicated that satirical poem to me, though that ‘issue’ is not about me. He has slapped a co-director and when the issue is being resolved in association, how could he hold a press meet? As he wrote that poem for me, I’ve used it in the movie”, quipped Vytla.

Reacting on throwing satires on Pawan Kalyan, NTR and others, Sreenu said he never aimed anyone with his satires. “We have thrown satires on our own Dookudu dialogues. I’m admirer of Pawan and expressed that openly many a times. As you have seen Aagadu already, there is nothing like satire on Pawan and NTR”, he clarified.

Speaking further on the advice given by Prakash Raj about making good cinema, “I need not learn the nuances of making cinema from Prakash Raj as we have seen the result of his Ulavacharu Biryani. Also in movies, hits and flops are common, as results don’t always come in the way we want”, stresses Sreenu Vytla.

Prakash Raj’s Timing is Mind-Blowing

Share

prakesh

Actor Prakash Raj has played it very safe in the whole issue of Sreenu Vytla. He not just gave a fitting reply to Sreenu by calling him “shameless”, Prakash intelligently brought the names of stars like Pawan Kalyan, Jr NTR and even Mahesh Babu by this, the actor garners the support of their fans. Prakash also scored brownie points by naming producers of Aagadu and blamed Sreenu for their suffering and subsequently talked about Kona Venkat. This is not all.

Especially, the timing at which Prakash Raj lashed out at his arch rival is certainly raising many eyebrows. Had Aagadu been hit, no doubt, Prakash Raj wouldn’t have raised his pitch like this. When the issue was burning, Prakash chose not to name him then. Prakash, in fact, doesn’t want to raise the issue much before the film’s release and gave opportunity to Sreenu to hit at him. At the same time, Prakash chose to stay tight-lipped soon after the film’s release even after it’s poor talk, as he thought anything he speaks then would be giving “unnecessary” publicity to the film, controversial poem.

On whole, Prakash Raj played the game very brilliantly, smartly and cornered Sreenu Vaitla completely. Prakash has hit at Sreenu when he is surrounded by all-round criticism. This is certainly a big jolt to Sreenu. However, one can’t underestimate Sreenu’s satires and counters. Stay tuned.

Rewind: Ram Gopal Varma’s Siva @ 25

ESG01

It’s been 25 years, Ram Gopal Varma’s classic cult Siva had hit the screens. Still the movie is fresh in memories of movie buffs. The hangover of Siva continue to haunt several youth and yes, the film is still ruling the roost. Released on October 5, 1989, the movie bagged critical acclaim and commercial success. The film bagged rare honours and ranked among the best 100 Indian films. The film walked away with several awards and accolades. The film was accorded with state government’s Nandi Awards for Best direction, Best First Film of a director and Best dialogue writer.

Starring Nagarjuna Akkineni, Amala and Raghuvaran in pivotal roles, the movie throws light on student politics and campus elections. Be it Machi Raju (Kota Sreenivasa Rao) or JD Chakravarthy or Malli (Subhalekha Sudhakar) or Nanaji (Tanikella Bharani), every character in the film has had its impact. Especially the portrayal of Raghuvaran as Bhavani caught many eyeballs. Ilaiyaraaja has rendered one of the best tunes and all the songs turned out to be chartbusters. ‘Botany Pathamundi…’ is still a favourite song for several youth. Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry had penned the song while veteran Veturi wrote three other songs. Gopal Reddy’s cinematography and slick editing all together made Siva a classic film.

Siva is not just a turning point in Nagarjuna’s career, but also a milestone in Telugu Film Industry. The movie set a new benchmark in industry and hence it is called as trend-setter film. In fact, Siva led founding stone for modern Telugu cinema. Telugu cinema is often classified as “Before Siva” and “After Siva”.

While the classic cult is celebrating its silver jubilee, it’s auteur Ram Gopal Varma is going through rough phase and his career is on downward spiral. Yet we can’t rule out RGV’s grand comeback. Anything is possible at anytime. Because, he is Ram Gopal Varma. The man who enthralled audiences for decades with his raw plots and gritty realistic narration is now . Varma needs some motivation. It’s time for RGV to introspect and look back at his past. He should sit and take notice of his previous films (Satya, Rangeela, Company, Sarkar) and how he made them. One would agree that his recent films have no match to his previous films at all. Hope RGV overcomes this phase and will churn out classics like before.

After Vizag, Hyderabad – Bunny wants Ooty

Allu Arjun, the Stylish Star of Tollywood, will have the best of his career this year. Because his ‘Race Gurram’ is the only highest grossing ‘blockbuster’ movie in Tollywood for 2014 and no other flick looks like able to break that record. This is first time for Bunny to enter 50 crore club and wave his flag for long.

Bunny is focusing heavily of ‘backdrops’ and ‘nativity’ for his movies if we look at his past few films. In ‘Julayi’ he made most of Vizag and in ‘Race Gurram’ it is Hyderabad. This time with Trivikram’s film, he wanted something refreshing and our magical writer has set things for it. All set for this Julayi combination to set foot in famous hill station Ooty as they are gearing up for shooting of a major schedule there. In the backdrop of these serene Tamilnadu locales, Bunny will romance Samantha and Adah Sharma. Such a hill station romance, we aren’t seeing in Telugu films these days, right?

‘Savitri’ is not RGV’s Title

Already we have informed how eccentric genius Ram Gopal Varma is romancing with yet another controversy. Posters of his latest flick, which showcase a kid gazing at an elderly woman’s assets, titled ‘Savitri’, have created a storm in film industry. Keep the storm aside, we have producer Neelima Tirumalasetty worried about it. Check this out.

After making disastrous ‘Panjaa’, Neelima produced another movie titled ‘Alias Janaki’ which got bombed too. This former Prajarajyam leader is now producing a film with director Pawan Sadineni of ‘Prema Ishq Kadal’ fame that features Nara Rohit as a hero. Already Neelima registered a title ‘Savitri’ for this family entertainer and she got shocked after looking at posters released by RGV. Not just Ramu used the title, but also bought insult to such a sweet name with his profane adult content that would disturb all.

Immediately she contacted RGV on the title issue, and surprising is that the ‘controversy’ specialist agreed to pull down the posters and change the title too. Already Ramu got enough publicity with these acts, now that he pulls down the posters, he will get more of it.

Will Sreenu Vytla Open His Mouth?

Share

sreenu

Versatile actor Prakash Raj went on record to accuse Sreenu Vytla of arrogance and shamelessly stealing his ‘anguish’ as dialogues for Soonu Sood in ‘Aagadu’. But he confirmed that there is no personal grudge against Vytla and is willing to act in a Dookudu like film if he gets a call.

‘I’ve nothing personal against Sreenu. Also Mahesh and me are working together from 15 years and undoubtedly I’ll get calls for his films if not for Vylta’s movies’, Prakash said. As the actor accused Sreenu of throwing satires on Pawan, NTR and Kona Venkat along with him, will our talented director open his mouth?

The so called satire-gate is not new to Tollywood from Sreenu Vytla’s stable. In every film of his, he makes a mockery of some persons who have worried him previously. So, satires on Kona Venkat and Prakash Raj are expected in ‘Aagadu’ and our beliefs came true. But then, Sreenu refused to keep mum about the issue during his media interactions while promoting ‘Aagadu’. As Prakash has decided to wash this dirty-linen in public, what would Sreenu do now?

Many say that he should also come out open and talk about his version before media. Sreenu might approach Directors Association, Film Chamber or Movie Artists Associations seeking action against Prakash Raj for defaming him, but that won’t look ethical, say critics. Let us see what our director will do.

Tamil Stars Really Worried For Ex-CM?

Top heroes like Surya, Vikram, Sarathkumar and many actors of Tamil Film Industry have recently taken up a protest to support convicted former Tamilnadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha. At a time when Court itself found that Jaya is guilty, how would responsible actors protest against the judgment? Do they think courts are wrong and Jayalalitha is right? For what, these actors have really protested unless they have a secret agenda.

None other than legendary actor Kamal Haasan got harassed by Jayalalitha government during his ‘Viswaroopam’ release. Despite Censor Board’s issuance of certificate to the film, Jaya speculated that the film might trigger communal clashes and held the release forcing Kamal to shed tears before media. Similarly hero Vijay went on staging a hunger strike as his film ‘Thalaiva’ (Anna in Telugu) release stalled by Jayalalitha government saying that the flick has some political intentions. Looking at these incidents and the protests of Tamil actors for Jayalalitha’s release, we could whether they are doing something out of heart or fear of harassment.

Can Rs 53 Crore Be Recovered?

Share

Govindudu Andari VadeleThe biggest challenge for any filmmaker or producer these days is to recover the investment. In Tollywood, any big hero film is made at a minimum budget of Rs 40 crores and given the market potential of Tollywood, recovering that is quite tough. So, the question making rounds in filmnagar is, can Rs 53 crores be recovered?

Well, this is said to be the budget for the latest release ‘Govindudu Andari Vadele’ starring mega powerstar Ram Charan. Talk is that the film has appealed to the A-centre audience only. Some say the openings are good but they dropped after two days. Another group says the collections are steady.

According to reliable sources, the first day collection stands at around 10 crores so the film has to do very well for at least a week to get to the Rs 30 crores mark. Unless the theatre occupancies are anywhere near 70 percent for the seven days, this figure would be hard to reach. But the stamina of Ram Charan and the positive vibe from the family audience can work in the film’s favor so let us see what happens.
