3 Crores Record Vs Bikini Fiasco

sikindr

Independence Day treats to Telugu audiences haven’t lived up to the expectations. When cinema lovers are expecting mind boggling stuff inside theatres, our film makers have given it in a piecemeal. Mainly, big ticket film like Sikander has disappointed on the start of lengthy weekend.

Star hero Surya and director Linguswamy’s combination raised alarming hype for ‘Sikander’. But all that hoopla turned just a simple routine mass movie on silver screen with no perks of enjoyable content. But this movie got split into two interesting aspects, one being the possible 3 crore collections share on opening day. Trade sources revealed that after Rajnikanth, no other Tamil hero’s dubbed flick has crossed this figure till date. In that case we have to call Surya as another Pawan Kalyan, because they can score numbers even with disastrous movies.

Second shocking aspect of the movie is queen-bee Samantha’s sensuous sizzling in a two piece bikini. Provided that she has humongous fan base for her saintly looks, her ravishing appearance to cut into the lines of glamour-doll kind heroines has upset fans. With huge discussions opening up as to why Sam resorted to such dirty show, despite not having a hot bikini body, we need to call this another fiasco.

Superstar Rajinikanth has clarified that his health is in good condition contrary to rumours that he had fallen sick during the shooting of Linga. He has surprised one and all by turning up at Mangalore airport. Rajini apparently spent sometime in the airport in the VIP lounge, spoke to airport authorities and later went on by road.

Rajini said that he is there in Mangalore for the 50-day-long schedule of Linga. Praising Mangalore as beautiful city, Rajini thanked God, prayers of his fans for his health. He said he will continue to act in films till his fans want him to act. He revealed that Linga will be released on the eve of December on his birthday. Needless to say that this is his invaluable birthday gift to his fans.

Samantha Happy on Her Sexy Image

Samantha’s skimpy outfits in her latest offing Sikandar has become the talking point. Crossing the borders she tried to erase her previous image of ‘girl-next-door’ and stunned one and all with her short dresses. She even worn a two-piece beach-dress and transformed her ‘cute’ image into ‘sexy’ starlet.

Talking about her short pants, trendy outfits, Samantha shared, “It wasn’t planned at all and it just happened. We didn’t have much time to do shopping for the outfits in the song and we did it in just two days.” She added, “This is not first time I’ve worn short pants. I was seen in similar pants in my second film Brindavanam as well.”

We hear that Sam was happy about her new “Sexy” image. An elated Sam said, “After five years of my career, people are now saying that I could carry a bold, sexy image. I’m glad about this. They must have been bored of my routine looks in this 5 years.” So, what is Sam trying to say? Is she going to continue the same in her upcoming films? If so, it will be a great treat guys.

The Emerging Of A New ‘Superstar’

Share

untitled

There is substance and stars like Danush are brining style to it. This is what happening with most super hit Tamil flicks these days. And by constantly doing it, this fragile looking hero became a master of box office collections and a trickster of delivering trendsetters.

After getting critical acclamation for many of his roles, Danush proved his mettle in Bollywood too, thereby exuding huge confidence. Post Kola veri di stunt, his name started ringing like anything. Like his father-in-law Rajnikanth, this thin-yet-six-pack hero also brought new wave mannerisms to his characters. In the recently released Velai Illa Pattadhari (VIP) it is Danush’s show all the way. Neither heroine’s glamour, nor adult comedy are stuffed inside the movie, but simply Danush’s staggering presence has ringed the registers to a tune of 50 Cross nett in 4 weeks. Simple concepts with wonderful execution are turning blockbusters when Danush is tagged along. Should we not call him the emerging Superstar at least now?

With yesterday’s release, Surya’s Anjaan biting the dust, VIP will be now screened for couple of weeks more easily. At a time when stars like Vijay and Ajith are struggling to rake in 50 crores, Danush is literally showing stars to everyone. Probably he is the next crown holder!

Milky Spots Rainbow With Mahesh

Share

aaaaa

At a time when thick black clouds have filled the sky, hiding the sun, it is milky beauty Tamanna’s presence that is lighting up Switzerland. That’s too much of a poetry but right now our hottie is literally basking in such atmosphere alongside Superstar Mahesh.

Escaping the after effects of two back-to-back flops including Saif’s Humshakals and Akshay’s Entertainment, their leading lady has now joined the rugged cop to shake a leg. Yes, Mahesh Babu and Tamanna are right now in Switzerland and will soon shift to Norway for the filming of ‘Aagadu’ songs. When shoot is going on today morning, suddenly the climate turned ice-cold and cloudy, and our beauty says that she has found a rainbow. Sharing the pic, Tamanna went gaga about the amazing rainbow she is staring at.

We wonder, if Mahesh has clicked this shot for our milky beauty. That’s something his lady fans will feel jealous of. Aagadu is in its last leg of production, and once the unit under Srinu Vytla’s headship wraps song-shoot, they have to race against time to finish post-production work. Then, we will have Encounter Shankar in theatres from Sep 2nd or 3rd week.

Will Shruti’s Retribution Follows?

Share

untitled

It’s clear and straight. The competition to bag throne in Tollywood and Kollywood is between sensuous Samantha and curvaceous Shruti Haasan. Both are actresses par excellence and ready to ooze loads of oomph factor on silver screen to create miracles. But it is time for Shruti Haasan for some retribution as Samantha stunned one and all the other day.

Glamorizing their characters in commercial flicks, both Samantha and Shruti have ramped up their skin-show dosage multifold. Growing up one more bit, Sam has shocked her fans with two-piece bikini treat in Anjaan. In order to withstand this bikini tide, even Shruti should do something bold to defend her position. Many say that she might slip into swimsuit for either Mahesh-Koratala’s movie or her next with Bellamkonda Srinivas. As Bellamkonda is known for paying a bomb to heroines, maybe she will show her curvaceous side to Tollywood audiences in Seenu’s movie.

TV Celebs Caught Without Makeup

Share

prabhaka

Popular soap-opera actors Prabhakar and his heroine in most serials, Sameera Sheikh, are caught without the paint the other day. Both these actors have devoted fans among family audience circles. Probably some would have had heart bursts after looking at his grey hair and her dark circles, but the actors are not worried about it.

Prabhakar is known for playing multiple-roles in many serials, and he generally portrays both father-son roles in same soap opera. On the other hand, Sameera is known as beauty queen, and despite her young age she too played mother roles in many afternoon-dramas. It takes guts to pose for fans sans makeup, but these two proved that they are also just like any common man off the screen.

Surya is not Rajni?

Share

surya

Many who watched “Sikander” can’t help than drawing comparisons with Rajni”sikander” and ‘badshah’ but Surya is unable to carry the larger-than-life role of a don, ala Rajnikanth in his 90’s blockbuster, convincingly. Director Linguswamy should also take some blame for penning many predictable scenes and even the second half lacks the punch, so it falls short of Rajni’s classic in comaparison.

Of course, Surya being a talented actor, tries to breathe some life into his grey role but its just not enough, to keep audience glued to the seats. No doubt, Samantha glam look is revelation and Surya performance and few good visuals could help the film to sail through, Despite commendable talent, and even after proving himself in strong roles in films like “Ghajini” and “Singham”, but to ape Rajni, looks to be a gamble of sorts.

sapthagiri comedian

After getting shot to popularity with his comic punches and stylized dialogue delivery, actor Saptagiri has become Mini Brahmanandam for small movies. His latest release is ‘Lovers’ where his comedy acts in second half as ‘Magajathi Aanimuthyam’ made audiences bump out of their seats due to non-stop laughing.

Saptagiri stays in the popular locality beside Sarathi Studios in Ameerpet, Hyderabad. Every day evening he has this habit of visiting the only Cafe Comedy outlet situated in that area. After the super success of his roles in movies like Prema Katha Chitram, he became a popular name and face among audiences. Those who are visiting the cafe at a time when Saptagiri is present are feasting a lot now.

More than sipping a coffee, everyday he poses with almost 10-15 members for selfies, and then discusses with them about his future projects too. After knowing about Saptagiri’s availability at that coffee day, many are flocking in everyday to get a glimpse of him at least.

Pawan Kalyan’s I-Day Msg

Share

pawan - iday

It is no secret that actor-politician Pawan Kalyan is a big patriot and always talk about freedom fighters like Subash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh. Commemorating 68th Independence Day, the Jana Sena chief has send out a message to all his fans, fellow citizens. And as expected, Pawan ended it with his most favorite mantra “Jai Hind”.
Here is Pawan’s message.

“My Heartiest Congratulations to every Indian on our 68th Independence day!! This is a great occasion to remember the sacrifices of our earlier generations and the efforts of our great Leaders. Its an occasion to salute the untiring efforts of our armed forces to protect our freedom and sovereignty. Its an occasion to truly value the privileges we enjoy and do things that make us better citizens, better human beings. May we all move forward with Responsibility and National Integrity!! Jai Hind!!”

Pawan Kalyan is now awaiting for the Election Commission to register Jana Sena as political party. He is expected to announce his future course of action once his political party meets all the basic requirements. Meanwhile, he is busy working on his next film Gopala Gopala. If all goes well, Pawan will start shooting for Gabbar Singh 2 from October.

Mahesh Babu’s Counter To Bunny!!

Share

mahesh - bunny

Stylish star Allu Arjun became the centre of attraction on Independence Day eve as his short film is winning appreciation from all corners. Despite of hot new trailers and movies schedule for today’s release, Bunny walked away with attention. Probably if someone has countered Bunny, then definitely it is Mahesh only.

On the eve of Independence Day, Mahesh Babu’s special teaser from ‘Aagadu’ is released to feast the eyes of fans. As soon as this teaser is released, it got immense response from cine lovers. ‘Happy independence day people, always proud to be an Indian’, said Mahesh to his fans, through his micro blogging site.

There are those, however, who say that Mahesh’s Aagadu I-day teaser couldn’t be compared with Bunny’s short film ‘I Am That Change’. ‘Allu Arjun’s flick a non-profitable message oriented one, but Mahesh is just promoting his forthcoming release even on a day dedicated to patriotism’, a cine lover commented.

Whatever it maybe, there are many ways to showcase ones love for country, so let us appreciate both Bunny and Mahesh.

RGV’s Shock to Navdeep ?

After stunning one and all by replacing Tejaswi Madivada with newbie Naveena, ace director Ram Gopal Varma has set his eyes at protagonist. In yet another kinda shock, RGV has now decided to replace Navdeep in the sequel. Going by reports, we hear that RGV’s favourite JD Chakravarthy would be cast in the film alongside new heroine. Both Navdeep and Tejaswi were apparently upset with the news that RGV has replaced them. It is reliably learnt that Varma had promised Navdeep, Tejaswi to cast them in the sequel during the shooting of Ice Cream. But looks like, Varma is now breaking his promise.

RGV and JD have worked with few historic films like Siva, Satya, Bhoot, Bhoot Returns. Is the change in script compelled Varma to cast JD or any other reason? Just wait and see.

Sikandar Movie Review – 2/5

lovers

Rating: 2/5
Cast: Suriya, Samantha, Vidyut Jamwal, Manoj Bajpayee, Murali Sharma and Others
Music by: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Cinematography: Santosh Sivan
Edited by: Anthony
Producer: Lagadapati Sirisha Sridhar
Story, Screenplay and Direction: N. Lingusamy
Release Date: August 15, 2014
Your Rating: [ratings]

Story:

The film starts in Kanyakumari, but the story begins in Mumbai. Krishna (Suriya) from Vizag comes to Mumbai and starts enquiring about his missing brother Raju. As he goes around meeting people, we are told that Raju is actually Raju bhai (Suriya again), a well-known and much-loved gangster in Mumbai. He along with his friend Chandu (Vidyut Jamwal) rule the underworld in a happy-go-lucky manner. But opposition comes in the form of a strict police commissioner. To counter him, Raju bhai kidnaps his daughter Jeeva (Samantha). One thing leads to another and within no time, Jeeva falls for the brash and macho Raju bhai. And it is not long before Raju bhai reciprocates his love for chirpy and sweet Jeeva.

Even as their romance begins, Raju bhai and Chandu end up making enemies with Imran (Manoj Bajpai). Raju bhai goes missing and Chandu is killed. Will Krishna find his brother? Will Chandu’s death be avenged, forms the rest of the story.

Artistes’ Performances:

It is Suriya’s show all the way. He is perfect as the crutch-wielding brother of Raju bhai who comes looking for his brother at the beginning of the film. But the show stealer is definitely Raju bhai, who is brash, wild and menacing at times. He plays with part with elan and charms you with his awesome smile. He emotes beautifully with his eyes during romantic and emotional scenes and he is total pleasure to watch as always.

Samantha on the other hand leaves her fans disappointed. She discards her plain Jane image to look ultra glam. Her stylist has done a good job and she is seen in some really good outfits. And yes, all her fans out there get to see her in a bikini. Yet, she misses out on the oomph element. Though she tries her best to sizzle in hot pants, she looks like a little school girl out to have fun rather than a hot girl wooing her boyfriend. The Telugu audiences are bound to be disappointed as they are used to seeing a beautiful Samantha in our films.

Vidyut Jamwal as Chandu is a good match for Suriya and they look totally believable as buddies who could die for each other. Well, given that he has a huge female fan following, he makes the most of it by looking handsome effortlessly.

Manoj Bajpai as Imran is a major letdown. After watching him in some memorable roles in Bollywood, he looks pale and lost in the film. In fact, instead of looking intimidating, he looks as if he has just recovered from a major illness.

Have to mention Chitrangadha Singh here, who has been roped in to do an item song. She looks voluptuous and sexy in her red outfit and provides the much-needed oomph factor.

Brahmanandam puts in a cameo which is a parody of famous musicians. Unfortunately, he fails to make the audience laugh and leaves you wondering as to why he accepted the role in the first place.

Other supporting cast puts in decent performances.

Technical Excellence:

Cinematography is by Santosh Sivan. So, he is as good as ever. However, another major disappointment comes from Yuvan Shankar Raja. Given that it’s a gangster film, it does have decent background score. But the songs are totally forgettable, at least in the Telugu version.

Like in most films these days, the second half is bit lengthy and the editor could have done away with a few scenes to retain the pace.

Highlights:

  • Suriya’s performance

Drawbacks:

  • Weak plot
  • Music

Analysis:
For starters, it was said that it would be a double dhamaka for Suriya fans as they will get to see him in two roles. Then, there were hordes of stories about Samantha shedding her girl-next-door image and turning hot and sexy for the film.

Last, but surely not the least, Linguswamy with a good track record of hits promised that his film has everything that fans would want to see in a Suriya film.

But the film disappoints at many levels. Despite getting to watch Suriya in two different roles, Suriya fans are bound to be let down by the weak script the director has picked.

Samantha’s fans are bound to be upset for seeing their favourite actress playing a badly etched out character unlike the author-backed roles she gets to play in Telugu.

Though the film has it all – rival gangs, baddies, friendship, treachery, few twists apart from interesting cast, it fails to hold your attention.

Suriya puts in his best along with Samantha and Vidyut Jamwal. But they do not succeed in salvaging the stale fare dished out by Linguswamy.

Having Suriya and Samantha in the cast gave ample scope for him to churn out a mega, commercial film. But he tells an age-old story in a boring and lengthy yarn.

Despite being a gangster film, most of his characters are weak and lack depth unlike characters seen in Bollywood gangster flicks.

Though he starts out on a good note and uses the flashback technique to unravel the story, he fails to keep the audience interested till the very end.

The story gets boring in the second half and Linguswamy throws no surprises to keep them glued.

Before the film’s release, it was said that Sikander would do for Suriya what Badshah did for Rajinikant. But Linguswamy totally wastes two top stars and all hardwork put in by a promising team.

Watch it only if you are a die-hard fan of Suriya.

Bottomline: Strictly for Suriya fans

Buzz is that top producer and distributor, dil raju has bagged the rights of ‘Power’ for Nizam area for a whopping amount. Most of the times, the judgement of dil raju do not go wrong. His confidence on ‘Power’ may turn out towards his favour.

Suriya’s Super Style with a ‘Toothpick’

Share

untitled

Hero suriya was extremely stylish and handsome in his latest offing ‘Sikandar’. Especially, his playing with a toothpick in his mouth and rolling it off in and out using his lips reminds us the signature style of Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth’s cigarette smoking. Meanwhile, ‘Sikandar’ received terrific openings across the AP and the Telangana on the day one of its release. Likely, the movie would get record collections among the dubbing films released, of late, in the first weekend run.

Samantha was quite liberal at her skin show. Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the tunes of the movie. The movie was directed by Lingusamy. Lagadapati Sridhar is the producer of the movie.

Lovers Movie Review

Maruthi has penned the script for this film besides presenting it. Sumanth Ashwin, who made an impression with Antaku Mundu Aa Tarvatha is the hero and Nanditha, who scored a hit with Prema Katha Chitram is the heroine.

What is it about?

Chitra (Nanditha) hates the concept of love. She thinks that every guy is a flirt and never lets her friends to fall in the trap of love. Siddhu (Sumanth) falls in love with Chitra and he has to find a way to get close to her. How does he change the opinion of Chitra on love?

Performances:

Sumanth Ashwin and Nanditha:  Sumanth Ashwin has improved as an actor. He is easy on eyes and very confident in facing the camera. He is good at comedy too. Nanditha has proved her caliber in her earlier films itself. She did well in this film too. She must consider herself lucky for bagging meaty roles when most of the heroines are being limited to songs these days.

Others:

Saptagiri steals the show with his mad comedy act. He brings the house down every time he is on screen. Sai complemented Saptagiri with some nice punch lines. Anitha Chowdary’s performance is dramatic.

Technicalities:

Harinath’s direction is fine. Maruthi made his job easy by providing entire script for the film. Harinath handled the entertainment part in a commendable way. Maruthi’s story and screenplay are just okay. There is nothing much to write about the story and screenplay of this film. He covered up the weaknesses in the script with comedy. Few Dialogues are hilarious. Music by JB is alright. Cinematography is neat.

Thumbs Up:

Entertainment Factor
Saptagiri Comedy Track
Hero and Heroine

Thumbs Down:

Weak Story
Poor Screenplay

Analysis:

Lovers has a very ordinary storyline to start with. There is nothing exciting or new about this concept. We have seen this previously in many romantic comedies. In fact everything that involves hero and heroine is boring. Neither writer nor the director noticed the weakness in the main plot. Despite being titled Lovers and focusing on Love, there is hardly any chemistry between the lead characters.Weakness in the story has been filled in by high doses of humor. Saptagiri, who shot to fame with Prema Katha Chitram is on fire in this film. His spoofs on Attarintiki Daredi and Magadheera are the major highlight of Lovers. Had the writer put extra efforts on penning the main plot Lovers could have been a memorable movie.  Lovers is not a must watch movie but it can be watched once. Thanks to Saptagiri’s hilarious comedy track and some entertaining scenes in the first half. This film is made on a decent budget and the release date is perfectly timed. Lovers will surely make the most of this long weekend.

Verdict:  Lovers – Comedy Clicks!
