Comedy hero Allari Naresh teaming with producer cum director Anil Sunkara for Action 3D resulted as a disaster. They are joining the hands for second time but Sunkara is only the producer this time. Popular Telugu and Tamil hero Sarath Kumar’s daughter Varalakshmi will debut into Telugu industry with this film romancing Allari Naresh. The news is confirmed by Naresh saying, “We have also paid advance to her. The project may start in March or April of this year.”

Varalakshmi entered into Tamil films with Podaa Podi opposite Simbu and completed couple of other movies. Presently, Naresh is shooting for director E. Satti Babu film in Rajahmundry and also committed to do a film with Ammi Raju. Meanwhile, Sunkara busy with Aagadu and Legend may also get free. Varalakshmi plays the love interest of Allari Naresh in the comedy film.

Devdas heroine passed away

Veteran actress Suchitra Sen has breathed her last on Friday morning at a private hospital in Kolkata. She was 83. Suchitra passed away at 8.25 AM today due to cardiac arrest. She was admitted to hospital on December 23 with severe respiratory tract infection and has been in the hospital for the past 26 days.

Suchitra is noted for iconic Parvathi role in ‘Devdas’ where she shared screen space with Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala. Hailing from West Bengal, she had starred in memorable Hindi films like ‘Aandhi’ and ‘Saat Paake Bandha’, ‘Agnipariksha’, ‘Saptapadi’ and ‘Deep Jwele Jai’ in Bengali.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had visited her seven times over the past few days.

Baahubali booked with ‘rumours’

Not just once, but this is the fourth time Baahubali unit is troubled by phone calls related to hunk hero Prabhas. As some miscreants are spreading false rumours, our young rebel star is standing the receiving end from some time.

Earlier when director Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali shooting was started, rumours have hit hard that hero Prabhas got injured in the shoot. Later Prabhas himself took to his social networking site to clarify about it. And then again, when Rajamouli started canning action sequences, rumours regarding Prabhas’ fitness sprouted up. Unit members have patiently condemned all of them. and now, it started spreading that Prabhas slipped into coma after he has fallen down from a horse.

Congress worried about February 7th!

The Rajya Sabha elections scheduled on February 7 is expected to be a tough test for the Congress party given the divide between party and its Seemandhra legislators in the state owing to the Telangana issue. The Election Commission has announced the schedule for the RS elections for 55 seats in 16 states including six vacancies in the state.

In 2009, the election process continued till the third week of March, but this time around, it will end in the first week of February 2014. Five sitting MPs, including Nandi Yellaiah, Md Ali Khan (Telangana), KVP Ramachandra Rao, T Subbarami Reddy and T Ratnabai (Seemandhra) would retire as their term expires while the sixth vacancy was due to the resignation of TDP member Nandamuri Harikrishna in protest against the Centre’s decision on Telangana some time ago.

In normal circumstances, Congress will get three seats and the TDP two. But since Seemandhra Congress leaders are unhappy due to the CWC decision to divide the state, sources say that the MLAs from the region may not vote for the Congress candidate and in case cross-voting from the Seemandhra Congress camp crosses a limit, then it will be difficult for the Congress to win all the seats!

Star hero’s son diagnosed with cancer!

It’s a devastating news. Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi’s 4-year-old son Ayaan, has been reportedly diagnosed with cancer. Going by reports, a tumour, said to be malignant, is developed in Ayaan’s kidney. What’s blessing in disguise is it is first-stage cancer. Since the cancer got detected in it’s first stage, it’s curable.

The news was first broke by Emraan Hashmi’s relative filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. As per Bhatt, he received a call from Hashmi, who informed him that his “four-year-old son Ayan had been diagnosed with a tumour in his kidney that was found malignant”. Mahesh Bhatt, who later visited the Hashmi household, said that Emraan was heart broken and inconsolable.

Emraan, who is presently shooting for his forthcoming film Mr X, has requested his director and producer to cancel the shoot in order to spend as much time as possible with his son.

Mahesh doing ‘Pokiri 2’ after ‘Aagadu’?

Irrespective of the names of future projects that are doing rounds in Film Nagar, Superstar Mahesh confirmed that he hasn’t committed any except Sreenu Vytla’s Aagadu. However, the star hero who is excited to say that he liked his characterization in ‘1’ leaked the future projects he might do.

Mahesh stated that he will take a call on his future projects only after wrapping up ‘Aagadu’. But we have to see even if his movie with Koratala Siva is also shelved or if it is waiting to go on floors. Commenting on Mani Ratnam’s movie, he says that it is too early to talk about the project as talks are in quite initial stages. However, Superstar desired to work on a sequel of ‘Pokiri’ if director Puri Jagannath is willing to make it. ‘Coming to Pokiri 2, this will be purely in Puri Jagan’s court. I’ll meet Jagan after a while and will discuss about it anyway’, Mahesh asserted.

Looks like if everything goes well, Mahesh Babu will join hands with Puri Jagan rather going with many other directors who are ready with their experimental scripts. Already Mahesh-Puri duo delivered Pokiri and Businessman, both superb grosser at box office.

1 Flop… Not Mahesh

1 Nenokkadine has been receiving some support from a section of netizens and the celebrities are also going gaga over this different attempt. However vast majority of audience have rejected this film and that is evident by the film’s collections trend during the festival time. Even average films can do well during Bhogi and Sankranthi days. Only disastrous films fail to make a mark on these days.

While Yevadu is blazing all guns and taking box office by storm, 1 Nenokkadine is limiping during this festive period. Collections on Bhogi day were not at all impressive. There is only slight raise in collections on Sankranthi day. Surprisingly 1 Nenokkadine is not getting encouraging collections in Hyderabad too. This is Mahesh’s forte and the collections here gives a clear picture about the result.

The makers are trying to create illusions that the film’s collections are improving, but in reality it is heading towards becoming one of the biggest disasters in Tollywood history on ROI basis. Although 1 has bitten dust at the box office, Mahesh Babu is getting overwhelming response from one and all. He will surely win awards for this performance and 1 will surely be memorable for him as an actor.

Pawan’s announcement on Gabbar Singh-2!

Why ‘Yevadu’ drawing crowds, but not ‘1’?

The success or failure of a film depends on so many factors, which includes good story, star cast, direction, technical stuff so on and so forth. But talking of South Indian film Industry especially Tollywood heroes play the pivotal part and most of the times the film runs only because of a particular hero being a part of it regardless of how good the script is.

And this sometimes makes many of us wonder if the audience’ sensibilities have ever changed or have they actually matured that no filmmaker can take them for granted.

The recent releases Yevadu and One Nenokkadine have in fact made us stare at this question. Ram Charan’s Yevadu clearly seems to have drawn inspiration from the Hollywood flick Face Off, which is actually been rated below average by film critics but the film has already celebrated the grand success and the theaters are running houseful here in Andhra!

While Mahesh Babu’s One Nenokkadine is a psychological thriller with amazing performances, technical brilliance and fantastic direction, and it surprisingly has not got such a blistering start. Although celebrities and film analysts have rated One Nenokkadine as Mahesh’s best performance so far!

Sad but true; the general public can be easily satiated with any masala flick, a little of action, song and dance, exposure, glamour, few punchy dialogues and of course mindless toilet humor even if it does not fit into the script will go on to become a blockbuster. The audience still has a long way to go in accepting this transitional phase in the industry. And if this change at the audience’s end fails to process further in the near future then get set to be fed with some more gibberish!
