The Andhra Pradesh delegation, led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh, has returned from the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026 in Davos. The four-day global summit saw participation from several Indian states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Assam, and Andhra Pradesh, with each state aiming to attract fresh investments and strengthen global business ties.
Andhra Pradesh entered the event with high expectations, focusing on positioning itself as a hub for technology, infrastructure, and innovation-driven investments. During the visit, Chandrababu Naidu held multiple high-level meetings with global business leaders, CEOs, and representatives of major multinational companies, highlighting opportunities in IT, industrial development, and the proposed Amaravati Sports City.
One of the key takeaways from the summit was the interest expressed by Tata Group entities in investing in Amaravati’s Sports City. Naidu also emphasized the potential of Visakhapatnam as an emerging IT and innovation hub, attracting positive responses from global players. Minister Nara Lokesh actively engaged in sector-specific discussions, leading to expressions of interest in IT, digital services, and skill development.
A significant announcement came from the AP government in collaboration with RMZ Group, planning a $10 billion investment over the next five to six years. This initiative will focus on large-scale digital, industrial, and mixed-use infrastructure projects, creating employment opportunities for nearly 1 lakh people and supporting balanced regional growth, particularly in Visakhapatnam and Rayalaseema.
Capgemini confirmed plans to expand its presence in Visakhapatnam with an integrated IT development center, global capability center, and BPM vertical, alongside building a large AI and cloud-ready workforce that could benefit Andhra Pradesh’s talent pool. Tata-backed innovation initiatives expressed interest in partnering with AP universities to develop digital talent, emerging technology labs, and advanced skills in areas like cybersecurity, cloud computing, and digital engineering. Blackstone also showed interest in developing Grade-A office spaces and mixed-use infrastructure in Visakhapatnam, boosting the city’s commercial real estate potential.
Additionally, Tech Mahindra proposed an IT campus in Vijayawada, expected to generate thousands of jobs, while planning expansion and skilling initiatives in Visakhapatnam.
While many of these outcomes are still at the planning and commitment stage, the Davos visit has helped Andhra Pradesh re-enter the global investment conversation. The true measure of success will depend on how effectively these discussions translate into ground-level execution in the coming months.
