India moves Canada over pro-Khalistan referendum plan
New Delhi: India has strongly taken up the issue with Canada of a so-called pro-Khalistan “referendum” there that will be carried out by a radical group on November 6 in the Canadian city of Toronto, with some online media reports even claiming on Sunday that a demarche was issued recently by New Delhi.
Government sources on Sunday did not specifically comment on whether a demarche was issued to Canada but confirmed that New Delhi had recently taken up the matter once again with Canada of anti-India activities taking place there. According to reports, the radical group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has announced that it will carry out the second phase of a referendum in Toronto on November 6 after carrying out the first phase last month at Brampton there. Canada had earlier conveyed to New Delhi that it supports India’s territorial integrity and does not recognise the referendum but has refused to stop the exercise, reading to diplomatic tensions between New Delhi and Ottawa.
It may be recalled that the violent terrorist Khalistan movement that had aimed to break Punjab away from India in the 1980s and form a separate nation was finally crushed by the Punjab Police way back in 1994. However, a section of the Sikh Diaspora in Canada under the influence of radical groups has been attempting to revive the movement that is believed to have the tacit backing of Pakistan and its spy agency the ISI.
On Friday when asked about the plans of the radical SFJ group and the so-called referendum, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had said, “ … There are some such developments, objectionable developments in Canada, it is very sad that such things are being allowed in a friendly country, we repeated this last time too. I think part two is saying this, we have obviously conveyed (at) different levels to the Canadian government.”
Trailer Talk: Akshay on a mission to save Ram Setu
The trailer of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited film ‘Ram Setu’ has been released today. It is known that the movie is based on the Ram Setu bridge from the epic Ramayana.
In the two-minute video, we can see Akshay taking up a mission to discover and save Ram Setu. The trailer begins with the government requesting the Court’s permission to demolish Ram Setu. Nassar, who feels India runs on the belief in Lord Ram, sends Akshay on an archaeological expedition to Ram Setu. Jacqueline Fernandez and Satya Dev join the protagonist in the deadly mission. The impressive video glimpse ends with AK carrying a stone from the bridge on his shoulder as he comes from the sea. “There are millions of temples of Shri Ram in the world, but Setu is only one,” his voiceover said.
Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the movie is co-produced by Cape of Good Films along with Amazon Prime Video, Abundantia Entertainment, and Lyca Productions. It will release in theatres on October 25.
Why are CBN and KCR meeting in Lucknow?
Past friends and arch rivals Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao will come together in Delhi. No They are not going to meet to thrash out a political alliance of sorts. But, they will come together in Delhi to pay their respects to veteran politician and founder of the Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav, who passed away on Monday.
Chandrababu has a long association with Mulayam Singh. He has been a friend of Mulayam from the United Front days of 1996, when both were king makers. They used to meet regularly and work together. Interestingly, cycle is the election symbol for both the TDP and the SP. Chandrababu paid rich tributes to his departed friend.
KCR, who has now renamed the TRS as BRS, has national ambitions. In fact, Mulayam’s son and former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was to attend the renaming ceremony. But, he could not due to Mulayam’s serious health condition. However, SP has friendly relations with KCR . So, even KCR left for Lucknow to pay his last respects.
KCR and CBN have not met in some time. They were together in the TDP for long years. KCR charted a different course after he was denied a ministry in Chandrababu Naidu government in 1999. Later, he formed the TRS and took up the demand for the formation of a separate Telangana state. The rest, as they say, is history.
Gundellona: Another musical treat from Ori Devuda
Young hero Vishwak Sen’s upcoming film ‘Ori Devuda’ is all set for a grand release on October 21st. As the release date is approaching, the makers have intensified the promotions by releasing the musical numbers from the fantasy drama film.
After impressing everyone with the first single Avunanavaa, the movie team today unveiled the second track ‘Gundellona’, which is crooned by star composer and singer Anirudh Ravichander. Kasarla Shyam provided the lyrics for this song, while music director Leon James gave an energetic tune for it.
Starring Victory Venkatesh in a cameo role, Ori Devuda has Mithila Parkar and Asha playing the female lead roles. Directed by Aswath Narimuthu, the movie is an official remake of the Tamil superhit Oh My Kadavule. It is bankrolled by Prasad V Potluri under the PVP Cinema banner.
Unstoppable 2: Promo Touches Interesting Topics in CBN’s Life!
After a stunning first season, the makers of Unstoppable show announced the second season recently with a stunning teaser. There are a lot of expectations for the season. The new teaser cleared all the airs on the episode. The teaser stars Nara Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh.
The promo opens with Balakrishna giving a tall introduction to former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. While welcoming him, Balayya Babu addresses Babu as one of the tallest in Indian politics. Babu received a stunning welcome at the event.
Interestingly, the promo touched on the sensitive topic of Chandrababu Naidu taking power from the founder chief of TDP, NTR. Chandrababu Naidu said that he pleaded with NTR but the situation forced him to do so.
He even asked Balakrishna if what they did was wrong. This is one of the controversial topics in Babu’s political career. Balakrishna asked a question on this topic and Chandrababu Naidu gave a pleasant reply. With the promo, the makers hinted that the show is going to be an eye feast.
Not just that, Balakrishna also asked Nara Lokesh how he feels losing his maiden election from Mangalagiri. The makers cleverly cut the promo there and we have to wait and see what reply Nara Lokesh gave.
The promo also had some interesting questions about naughty things Chandrababu Naidu did in his youth. In his reply, Chandrababu Naidu said he did a lot of such things as a student. Balayya replied his foresight helped him create Cyberabad out of nothing.
No smooth landing for Runway 34 and Heropanti 2
The review of Runway 34 is quite mixed and the critics’ response to Heropanti 2 is rather lukewarm. The box office too is not really as encouraging as it was expected to be.
Heropanti 2 is being marketed aggressively even after the release to ensure that the numbers are better as the advance bookings are not good and the reviews are not really helping.
As for Runway 34, the film is currently being watched more by the “classes” rather than the usual “masses” that love to watch Ajay Devgn. The makers hope that the numbers will get better by the weekend.
“People are going to the theatres, but they will watch films that are exciting. With the recent releases like KGF 2 and others doing well, people expected theatres to go housefull. But that’s not happening as the audience will watch only the films that excite them. Even Jersey didn’t make it big,” says Atul Mohan, editor, Complete Cinema.
Both films, Runway 34 and Heropanti 2 are not expected to cross the eight digit mark in terms of actual collections on the first day, say experts.
Oke Oka Jeevitham’s OTT release date is here
After having an excellent run at the box office, Sharwanand starrer Oke Oka Jeevitham is now gearing up for its OTT release. The Karthik directorial delivered a much-needed hit for the young actor, who has been dealing with a series of flops.
It is known that the popular OTT platform Sony LIV has acquired the digital streaming rights of Oke Oka Jeevitham for a fancy price. The team now announced that the movie will stream on Sony LIV from the 20th of October.
Set against the concept of time travel, Oke Oka Jeevitham has Ritu Varma as the female lead, whereas Amala played a crucial role. Bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures, the movie also featured Nasser, Priyadarshi, Vennela Kishore and others in supporting roles.
Ad Makers Not Touch Religious Sentiments To Avoid Controversies?
The term Boycott is giving sleepless nights to the Bollywood industry. A few films became the target of the trend. Not just the films, but the advertisements are also facing heat for the alleged anti-Hindu stand. Earlier, Jewellery brand Tanishq faced severe heat with the Diwali ad. The advertisement started a big controversy as many felt that the ad hurt the sentiments of Hindus.
Now another advertisement became the target as it is dubbed as hurting religious sentiments. It is known that the tradition of newlywed women goes to in-laws to stay there for the rest of their life. Though a few religions follow this, this is followed heavily in the Hindu religion.
An advertisement that features Kiara Advani and Aamir Khan allegedly questions this tradition and Aamir Khan says he will go to Kiara Advani’s house instead of Kiara coming to Khan’s house. This made many feel that the advertisement hurts the Hindu sentiment.
Strong Right-wing supporter Vivek Agnihotri of The Kashmir Files fame said that the people make such nonsense in the ads and then blame they’re getting trolled. He even called such ad makers as idiots.
Religion and sentiments are two sensitive topics and not touching them is a good thing here. Moreover, the ads and movies are being scanned like never before and every detail is being examined. It is high time that the makers should avoid such topics to not land into controversies.
Rockstar Anirudh crooned the Melodious Chartbuster Gundelonaa
It seems like the fabulous performers of Telugu cinema Daggubati Venkatesh and Vishwak Sen decided to gift us the tremendous entertainment with their upcoming flick “Ori Devuda”. The response for the recently released songs and trailer from the Telugu audience and fans is unanimously on positive vibe.
Continuing the momentum, today makers released the third single ‘Gundelonaa.’ The newly released song is a melodious trance, voiced by Anirudh Ravichander, complemented by fast-paced beats from Leon James.
The song is a winner from the word go. The first glimpse of the song that came out a couple of days ago contains the recurring melody which hooks the listeners immediately. The main lyrics further enhance the appeal.
