Malavika Mohanan on Destiny, Prabhas, and Her Telugu Debut

Share

Malavika Mohanan has carved a niche for herself in the film industry, working across Malayalam and Bollywood cinema. However, her journey into Telugu cinema took an unexpectedly long route, filled with near misses and postponed opportunities.

She was initially set to make her Telugu debut opposite Vijay Deverakonda in a film titled Hero, which was eventually shelved. Later, she was approached to star alongside Prabhas in Salaar, but the makers replaced her at the last minute with Shruti Haasan.

Reflecting on her journey, Malavika believes it was all a matter of destiny. “I was always meant to make my Telugu debut with Prabhas. Even though I missed out on two projects, being finally cast in The Raja Saab feels like fate,” she shared.

The actress also expressed her admiration for Prabhas, revealing that she has been a long-time fan. She added that audiences would be even more enamored with him if they knew about his warm and grounded personality off-screen.

Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom 2 Shelved After Part 1 Underperforms

Share

In a major setback for Vijay Deverakonda, the planned sequel to his 2025 film Kingdom, written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, has been shelved. Kingdom, which followed the violent journey of a troubled undercover cop, was originally conceived as a two-part franchise, with portions of the second film even shot during the making of the first.

The producers had been confident of the franchise’s success, making bold announcements about the sequel even before Part 1 hit theaters. However, the film underperformed, forcing them to quietly abandon plans for Kingdom 2.

An industry source revealed, “Vijay is hugely disappointed. The past few years have been challenging for him. He is now pinning his hopes on Rowdy Janardhana, his next release, to revive his career.”

Mega Heroes Gear Up for a Grand Comeback in 2026

Share

From Megastar Chiranjeevi to Ram Charan, Pawan Kalyan to Allu Arjun, and Sai Dharam Tej to Varun Tej, the mega heroes of Telugu cinema have, at times, delivered back-to-back blockbusters. While Pawan Kalyan wowed audiences with #OG, and Allu Arjun reached national acclaim with Pushpa 2, some of the other mega heroes have faced a string of recent disappointments.

Chiranjeevi, after the underwhelming performance of Acharya and Bhola Shankar, is all set to bounce back this Sankranthi with Anil Ravipudi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu. Additionally, his VFX-driven fantasy Vishwambhara is slated for release later this year, raising hopes for a double success.

Ram Charan, despite the massive buzz post-RRR, saw his Game Changer fail last Pongal. Fans are optimistic that his upcoming Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu and already making waves with the hit Chikiri song, will mark a strong comeback when it hits theaters in March 2026.

Sai Dharam Tej is aiming for a blockbuster with Sambarala Yeti Gattu, a high-budget venture expected to make a big impact. Meanwhile, Varun Tej is preparing Korean Kanakaraju, following the lukewarm reception of films like Matka and Operation Valentine.

For younger mega stars like Vaishnav Tej and Allu Sirish, selecting their next projects will be crucial to joining the upcoming mega festival releases at the box office.

After a period of back-to-back flops for several members of the Mega family, 2026 promises hope and a chance for a grand comeback for Telugu cinema’s powerhouse heroes.

Jana Nayagan Advance Booking Smashes Records Ahead of Vijay’s Big Release

Share

Tamil cinema is all set to witness one of its biggest releases in recent times with Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. The film is slated for a January 9 release, and advance bookings opened a week early, generating massive excitement.

Even before its theatrical release, Jana Nayagan has created a strong impact at the box office. Reports suggest that the film has already raked in around Rs 15 crore through advance ticket sales worldwide, reflecting the immense anticipation surrounding the project.

A significant portion of these bookings has come from international markets such as North America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and parts of the Middle East, where Vijay enjoys a consistently strong fan base. Overseas collections alone are estimated at Rs 11–12 crore, while India’s advance sales, currently open only in select regions, have contributed roughly Rs 3 crore. With bookings yet to open in major markets like Tamil Nadu, trade experts predict a sharp rise in numbers in the coming days.

The excitement around Jana Nayagan is further amplified by the belief that this may be Vijay’s last full-fledged film before his active entry into politics. Its themes, promotional material, and Vijay’s screen presence have fueled public interest even more. If the current momentum continues, the film is expected to achieve a record-breaking opening and set new benchmarks for advance sales in Vijay’s career.

Naga Vamsi: Shaping Modern Telugu Cinema with Smart Budgets

Share

Talented young producer Naga Vamsi has emerged as one of the most active, consistent, and versatile producers in Telugu cinema today. Known for backing diverse content and collaborating with both top stars and promising talent, he continues to play a crucial role in shaping the industry’s current landscape.

Recently, Naga Vamsi openly spoke about how film budgets are structured in the present-day market. According to him, nearly 40 percent of a film’s total budget is allocated to remuneration, which includes fees for lead actors, directors, music composers, and key technicians. With increasing star value and rising demand for skilled talent, this has become one of the biggest cost components in filmmaking.

Another 50 percent of the budget goes into production expenses, covering areas such as shooting costs, sets, locations, costumes, action sequences, visual effects, and post-production work. Naga Vamsi emphasized that investing in strong production values is essential to meet evolving audience expectations and to deliver a solid theatrical experience. The remaining 10 percent is spent on prints and advertising, which includes promotions, trailers, digital marketing, and release-related expenses.

Under his banner Sithara Entertainments, Naga Vamsi has produced several notable films in recent years. His recent projects include Mad Square, the sequel to the successful youth entertainer Mad, which further strengthened the franchise’s popularity. He also produced Kingdom and the gritty action drama Gangs of Godavari, starring Vishwak Sen. Other notable films from his banner include Butta Bomma and multiple upcoming big-scale projects with leading stars.

With a transparent approach, smart budgeting strategies, and a strong understanding of audience preferences, Naga Vamsi continues to be a driving force in modern Telugu cinema.

Anasuya Bharadwaj’s New Year Vacation Pics Spark Online Debate

Share

Actress and television anchor Anasuya Bharadwaj, who recently made headlines for her strong response to actor Sivaji’s remarks on how actresses should dress, once again grabbed attention by firmly standing by her belief of “my body, my choice.”

Anasuya has consistently maintained that she will wear what she likes and live life on her own terms. Welcoming New Year 2026, she chose to celebrate with a beach resort vacation, offering fans a glimpse into her holiday through social media.

While several celebrities such as Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, and Vijay Deverakonda shared family-oriented vacation pictures, Anasuya surprised many by posting a series of swimming and poolside photographs. Along with candid moments featuring her husband as they enjoyed quality time together in the pool, she also shared solo pictures of herself relaxing in a swimsuit and sipping a mocktail.

The pictures quickly went viral, sparking widespread discussion across social media platforms. Many fans applauded her confidence, fashion choices, and unapologetic attitude, praising her philosophy of living life to the fullest. However, a section of netizens felt the posts were aimed at attracting unnecessary attention, resulting in mixed reactions online.

As always, Anasuya’s social media presence has reignited debates around personal freedom, self-expression, and societal expectations, keeping her firmly in the spotlight.

Balakrishna–Gopichand Malineni Historical Film Put on Hold

Share

Director Gopichand Malineni is aiming to deliver yet another hit with Nandamuri Balakrishna. The duo had earlier planned an ambitious project set against a historical backdrop, for which a powerful story was locked and overseas recce had already been completed. With all preparations in place, the team was initially keen to take the film forward.

However, the producer, director, and Balakrishna have now mutually decided to put the historical project on hold for the time being and move ahead with a different subject. The decision is purely budget-driven and not related to the content. A large-scale historical film demands an extended shooting schedule and massive financial investment.

Given the current scenario in Tollywood—where OTT revenues and Hindi market valuations have witnessed a decline—the financial feasibility of mounting such a big-budget project did not seem favourable. As a result, the team felt it was prudent to postpone the venture until market conditions improve.

In the meantime, Gopichand Malineni has narrated a fresh story idea to Balakrishna, which has received a positive response. With the historical film temporarily shelved, the team has decided to proceed with this new subject, and script work is currently in progress.

The project will be produced by Satish Kilaru under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner, with more details expected to be announced soon.

The Raja Saab Set for Grand Sankranti 2026 Release

Share

The Raja Saab, starring pan-India superstar Prabhas, is all set for a grand theatrical release on January 9, 2026, making it one of the most anticipated Sankranti releases of the year.

Directed by Maruthi, the fantasy horror-comedy promises a refreshing blend of supernatural elements, humour, emotion, and high-voltage drama. The film has already generated strong buzz with its intriguing trailer, lavish visuals, and genre-mixing narrative.

As anticipation continues to soar, reports suggest that Prabhas made a significant financial sacrifice for the project. Despite reportedly charging close to ₹150 crore per film, the star is said to have accepted a reduced remuneration of ₹100 crore for The Raja Saab. While the exact reason behind this pay cut remains undisclosed, it has only added to the film’s positive buzz.

The supporting cast has also been paid handsomely. Sanjay Dutt, who plays a menacing ghost, is reportedly paid around ₹5–6 crore. Among the leading ladies, Malavika Mohanan is said to have received ₹2 crore, Nidhhi Agerwal around ₹1.2–1.5 crore, while Riddhi Kumar reportedly earned ₹3 crore for her pivotal role. Director Maruthi is said to have been paid ₹18 crore for helming the project.

The story revolves around Prabhas’ character battling dark supernatural forces to protect his family, blending fantasy with strong emotional undertones. SS Thaman’s music plays a crucial role in elevating the film’s scale and mood. Songs like “Sahana Sahana” have already gone viral, amassing millions of views across platforms.

Veteran actress Zarina Wahab also plays a key role in the film. At a recent pre-release event in Hyderabad, Prabhas fondly referred to her as “Nannamma” and even called her the heroine of the film, highlighting her importance in the narrative. However, details regarding her remuneration remain undisclosed.

SpaceX to Lower Starlink Satellites by 2026 to Boost Speed and Space Safety

Share

SpaceX has announced plans to shift a significant portion of its Starlink satellite constellation into lower orbits by 2026. The technical reconfiguration aims to improve network performance and enhance space safety by reducing the long-term risk of orbital debris.

According to the company, future Starlink satellites will operate at altitudes around the 480km mark, a notable reduction from the current primary operating altitude of approximately 550km. This transition is designed to decrease signal latency, providing faster internet speeds for users globally. Furthermore, the increased atmospheric drag at these lower altitudes ensures that any decommissioned or malfunctioning satellites will de-orbit and burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere within weeks, instead of years.

This comes after a statement from Starlink in December regarding a rare incident in which a satellite suffered an anomaly at an altitude of 418 km. The event resulted in a total loss of communication with the spacecraft and generated a small amount of orbital debris, marking a notable technical failure for the satellite internet provider.

The decision also follows growing scrutiny from the international scientific community and space agencies regarding the density of satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). By moving to a lower shell, SpaceX aims to mitigate the “Kessler Syndrome” risk, which is a scenario where a single collision could trigger a catastrophic chain reaction of debris. The company stated that the move demonstrates its commitment to space sustainability, as the VLEO environment is effectively self-cleaning due to natural atmospheric resistance.

With only two failed satellites out of more than 9,000 launched to date, Starlink already boasts an outstanding reliability record, yet this proactive reconfiguration, coordinated closely with regulators, other operators, and US Space Command, ensures that any future failures de-orbit much faster, raising the bar for overall orbital safety.

Australia Tightens Post-Study Work Rules Under 2025–26 Migration Strategy

Share

Australia is set to significantly reshape post-study opportunities for international graduates under its 2025–2026 Migration Strategy, marking a decisive shift toward a skills-first immigration framework. The changes tighten work rules, reduce automatic extensions, and link post-study visas more closely to national skills shortages—moves that will directly impact Indian students and global education providers.

At the centre of the reform is the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485), the primary post-study work pathway for international students. While the visa remains in place, its purpose has been clearly redefined. From July 1, 2024, new study-based immigration streams replaced earlier arrangements, with the Post-Higher Education Work stream emerging as the main option for graduates seeking short-term work experience in Australia.

Under the revised structure, post-study stay periods are limited and tied to qualification level, and in some cases, regional study locations. The Australian government has emphasised that the 485 visa is designed to support early-career development rather than serve as a long-term temporary residence pathway.

A major change affecting the 2025–2026 intake is the end of the two-year post-pandemic graduate visa extension that applied to select disciplines. The Department of Education has confirmed these extensions will conclude by mid-2024, restoring standard stay durations and removing an incentive that previously boosted enrolments in certain fields.

Alongside post-study reforms, student work rights have also been tightened. After pandemic-era flexibility allowed unlimited work hours, Australia reinstated limits from July 1, 2023. International students on a Subclass 500 visa are now restricted to 48 hours of work per fortnight during teaching periods, with full-time work permitted only during scheduled breaks. The government says the move reinforces study as the primary purpose of the visa while addressing exploitation in low-wage sectors.

These policy shifts come amid broader migration controls introduced under Australia’s Migration Strategy released in December 2023. While international education contributed nearly A$48 billion to the economy in 2023, housing shortages and infrastructure pressures have driven the government to curb long-term temporary migration and raise compliance standards across education providers.

For graduates entering the 2025–2026 cycle, competition is expected to intensify. Fewer automatic extensions and closer scrutiny of skills alignment mean post-study outcomes will increasingly depend on how well qualifications match Australia’s skilled migration priorities.

Hiring trends further reinforce this shift. Employers are prioritising demonstrable skills, job readiness, and relevant experience over visa status alone. OECD data indicates migrant workers continue to perform strongly even as migration numbers tighten, highlighting the growing importance of clear skills signalling.

For Indian students and education planners, the message is clear: post-study work opportunities remain available, but within narrower boundaries. Success under Australia’s updated framework will increasingly favour students who choose courses aligned with skills shortages, understand visa conditions clearly, and can demonstrate workforce-ready capabilities in a more competitive graduate market.

South Korea Extends Visa Fee Waiver for Indian Group Tourists Until June

Share

South Korea has decided to extend its visa fee waiver for group tourists from key Asian markets, including India, as part of its efforts to maintain the strong rebound in inbound tourism. Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol announced on Wednesday that the exemption on visa processing fees for short-term group travellers will continue for another six months.

The fee waiver applies to C-3-2 short-term group visas and was originally scheduled to expire this week. Under the new decision, the exemption will remain in effect until the end of June next year, according to Yonhap News Agency. Besides India, the extension covers travellers from China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Cambodia. The standard processing fee for this visa category is currently 18,000 won (about $12.46).

The move comes amid a steady recovery in South Korea’s tourism sector, which has not only bounced back from the pandemic but has begun to surpass pre-Covid levels. “The move is aimed at sustaining momentum in inbound tourism,” Koo said, highlighting the government’s focus on keeping arrivals strong through supportive policy measures.

Official data from the Korea Tourism Organisation shows that foreign arrivals rose sharply in November, increasing 17.3 per cent compared with the same month last year. Around 1.6 million foreign tourists visited South Korea in November, up from 1.36 million a year earlier and 9.6 per cent higher than in November 2019.

China continued to be the largest source market with 378,000 visitors, followed closely by Japan at 363,000. Taiwan accounted for 158,000 arrivals, the United States 133,000, and the Philippines 60,000. While tourist numbers from China have recovered to about 75 per cent of pre-pandemic levels, Japan has shown a much faster rebound, with arrivals jumping 40.4 per cent compared with the same period in 2019.

Between January and November, South Korea welcomed 17.42 million foreign visitors, marking a 15.4 per cent increase year-on-year and an 8.6 per cent rise over 2019 levels. Chinese tourists made up the largest share during this period, accounting for 29.2 per cent, or roughly 5.09 million visitors.

By extending the visa fee waiver, South Korea aims to further strengthen travel demand from fast-growing Asian markets and ensure continued growth in its tourism industry.
