Tollywood’s Big 2026 Lineup: Major Releases and Mega Clashes Ahead

Telugu cinema fans have plenty to look forward to in 2026, with a packed lineup of big-ticket films scheduled throughout the year. The year is expected to begin on a festive note with The Raja Saab, slated for a January 9, 2026 release during the Sankranthi season. Close on its heels is Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, which is also expected to hit theatres on January 12 as a festival release.
February 2026 will see the release of Swayambhu, starring Nikhil Siddhartha in a warrior role. Directed by Bharat Krishnamachari, the film features Samyuktha Menon and Nabha Natesh as the female leads and is generating decent buzz ahead of its release.
March is shaping up to be one of the busiest and most competitive months of the year. Decoit, starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur and directed by Shaneil Deo, is expected to arrive in mid-March. This will be followed by a major box-office clash on March 26, with Ram Charan’s Peddi, directed by Sana Butchi Babu, releasing alongside Nani’s The Paradise, helmed by Srikanth Odela. Adding to the heat, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan and directed by Harish Shankar, is also slated for release during this season.
March will also witness the arrival of the biggest release of the year, Dhurandhar 2, in its Telugu version. Though not a direct Tollywood production, the film is expected to create a massive impact and significantly shake up the box office in the Telugu states.
The summer season may bring Vishwambhara, starring Chiranjeevi, around June 2026, although the final release date is yet to be locked. Meanwhile, the much-talked-about project featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna and Gopichand under the direction of Hanu Raghavapudi remains uncertain, depending on production progress, making it a project to watch closely.
One notable point is that some of Tollywood’s biggest stars — Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu, and Jr NTR — are not expected to grace the box office in 2026, making the year particularly interesting as it relies on a diverse mix of stars, directors, and high-concept films to drive audience excitement.
Anil Ravipudi Clears Acting Debut Rumours

Popular director Anil Ravipudi has firmly established himself as a successful writer-director in Telugu cinema. Beyond his filmmaking credentials, his sharp comedic timing and natural screen presence—often evident during his appearances as a judge on television shows—have led many to believe that an acting debut might be on the cards, much like contemporaries such as Tharun Bhascker.
Addressing these speculations, Anil Ravipudi has now offered clear clarification. Speaking at the song launch event of “Mega Mass Victory” from Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, the director of blockbusters like F2, Sarileru Neekevvaru, and Bhagavanth Kesari confirmed that acting is not on his immediate agenda.
“When you’re doing well in one craft—direction in my case—people often suggest trying something new. But becoming a hero requires immense responsibility and complete focus. Right now, I’m comfortable and confident as a director, and I don’t plan to make my acting debut anytime soon,” Anil Ravipudi stated.
Having delivered back-to-back Sankranthi blockbusters at the Telugu box office, Anil appears keen on extending his successful directorial streak rather than diverting attention elsewhere. While the filmmaker in him remains firmly in control, fans who are eager to see the ‘actor’ side of Anil Ravipudi will have to wait a little longer.
Meenakshi Chaudhary Eyes Sankranthi Hat-Trick

Tollywood’s Sankranthi 2026 season is shaping up to be a vibrant and fiercely competitive festive window, with several stars eyeing big wins. Among them, one heroine who stands out with a genuine chance of achieving a rare hat-trick is Meenakshi Chaudhary.
After making her Tollywood debut, Meenakshi grabbed attention by landing a key role in Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram. Released during Sankranthi 2024, the film received mixed reviews initially but went on to perform well at the box office, putting her firmly on the radar.
She followed it up in 2025 with Sankranthiki Vastunnam, which emerged as a major blockbuster during the festive season. Meenakshi, playing the central female lead, earned praise for her confident screen presence and performance, further strengthening her standing in the industry.
Now, all eyes are on Naveen Polishetty’s Ananganana Oka Raju, a rom-com entertainer slated for a January 14, 2026 worldwide release. Featuring Meenakshi as the solo heroine, the film has already generated positive buzz, with songs like “Bhimavaram Balma” striking a chord with audiences.
If Ananganana Oka Raju clicks at the box office, Meenakshi Chaudhary will create history by becoming one of the few heroines in recent times to deliver three consecutive Sankranthi releases that turned out to be box-office successes.
As things stand, Sankranthi 2026 could well be the festival that completes Meenakshi Chaudhary’s impressive hat-trick and further cements her position as a dependable festive-season heroine in Tollywood.
Sara Arjun: Youngest ₹1000 Cr Heroine

A month ago, the name Sara Arjun may not have been widely recognized. However, everything changed with the release of the teaser for Dhurandhar. The spotlight quickly shifted to her, not just for her screen presence, but also due to the intense online trolling surrounding her pairing with Ranveer Singh, who is nearly twice her age. The casting sparked heated debates across social media, with critics questioning the age gap and creative choices.
Despite the initial backlash, Dhurandhar proved its critics wrong. The on-screen pairing of Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, along with their character design and love story, resonated strongly with audiences. The film went on to become a massive blockbuster, grossing over ₹1000 crore worldwide, validating director Aditya Dhar’s conviction in his casting and storytelling.
With this achievement, Sara Arjun has etched her name into the record books as the youngest heroine to enter the ₹1000 crore club. At just 20 years of age, she has reached a milestone that many actresses achieve only after a decade-long career or in their late twenties. This early success sets her apart and positions her as one of the most promising young faces in Indian cinema.
Now, with the milestone achieved, industry attention turns to Sara Arjun’s future choices, which will play a crucial role in shaping her long-term career trajectory. Adding to the excitement is the anticipation around Dhurandhar Part 2, which is slated to hit theatres in March 2026. Many are curious to see whether Sara Arjun will reunite with Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh and recreate the same magic once again.
Her journey from relative anonymity to a record-breaking blockbuster in such a short span marks a remarkable beginning—one that could define a significant chapter in contemporary Indian cinema.
Immigration Fears Rise in US as Trump Tightens H-1B Rules and Enforcement

Immigrant communities across the United States are experiencing heightened anxiety as stricter immigration enforcement and increased H-1B visa fees come into force under the Trump administration. According to the 2025 Survey of Immigrants conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) in partnership with The New York Times, fear of detention and deportation has surged sharply across immigrant groups, including those who are lawfully present and even naturalised citizens.
The survey found that 22% of immigrants personally know someone who has been arrested, detained, or deported on immigration-related grounds since President Trump assumed office in January. Notably, most of those affected had not committed serious crimes. Overall, 41% of immigrants now worry that they or a family member could face detention or deportation, a significant increase from 26% in 2023.
While concern remains highest among likely undocumented immigrants at 75%, apprehension has also risen substantially among lawfully present immigrants, increasing from 33% to 50%. Even naturalised citizens reported a sharp rise in fear, with concerns jumping from 12% to 31%. More than half of all immigrants surveyed said they lack confidence that they or their family members would be treated fairly by the U.S. legal system if detained on immigration-related charges.
The impact of these fears is extending into everyday life. Nearly 30% of immigrants reported cancelling travel plans to avoid potential encounters with immigration authorities. Among undocumented immigrants, 63% said they are avoiding both domestic and international travel. This caution is not limited to undocumented groups, as 32% of H-1B visa holders and 15% of naturalised citizens also reported refraining from travel.
Adding to the uncertainty, the Department of Homeland Security announced in December 2025 that the H-1B visa lottery system will be replaced with a weighted selection process favouring higher-paid and more highly skilled applicants. The new rule, issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, is set to take effect on February 27, 2026. Earlier, in September, President Trump signed a proclamation increasing H-1B application fees, stating the move was aimed at curbing misuse of the programme and protecting American workers.
These changes have had a pronounced impact on Indian professionals, who have historically been the largest beneficiaries of the H-1B visa programme. Indian IT firms are now facing higher costs for employing thousands of workers in the U.S., while many professionals in technology, finance, and healthcare sectors are grappling with delayed visa appointments and growing uncertainty.
As major technology companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Meta Platforms, and Tata Consultancy Services continue to rely heavily on H-1B talent, the industry is being compelled to adjust to a rapidly shifting immigration landscape. Meanwhile, fear and uncertainty within immigrant communities continue to mount as U.S. immigration policies undergo significant transformation.
