Akhanda 2 Box Office Faces Steep Decline

Share

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 arrived with massive anticipation, but the fantasy action thriller has struggled to maintain momentum at the box office. The film reportedly lost a significant portion of its audience due to underwhelming pre-release promotions and received largely negative reviews following its theatrical release on December 12, 2025.

According to Sacnilk, Akhanda 2 collected around ₹5.35 crore net in India on its fourth day across all languages. The film recorded an overall 23.47% Telugu occupancy on Monday, December 15, highlighting a sharp drop in footfalls. With this, its total India net collection has reached approximately ₹60.90 crore.

The day-wise trend shows a steep decline after the opening weekend. Thursday premieres earned around ₹8 crore, followed by ₹22.50 crore on Day 1. Collections dropped to ₹15.50 crore on Day 2, a decline of over 31%, and Day 3 saw a marginal dip with earnings of ₹14.90 crore. The biggest fall came on Day 4, with collections crashing to around ₹5.4 crore, a drop of over 64%.

Directed by Boyapati Srinu and produced by 14 Reels Plus and IVY Entertainment, Akhanda 2 now faces a challenging run, with weekday performance expected to play a crucial role in determining its overall box office outcome.

Tollywood 2025: Year of Star Absence and Sparse Releases

Share

The year 2025 is drawing to a close, beginning with a major hit like Game Changer and ending with another blockbuster, Akhanda 2. Yet, the question remains: how many big star films actually released in between? The answer—very few, so few that they can be counted on one hand.

Many top actors missed the year entirely, some due to previous flops, others because of strategic breaks to plan bigger projects. The result? Months slipped by with minimal star-driven releases.

Take Allu Arjun, for instance. After delivering the blockbuster Pushpa 2, he carefully planned his next move. Even discussions with director Atlee took considerable time, and by the time the project went on floors, much of the year had already passed.

Mahesh Babu faced a different scenario. Following Guntur Kaaram, a break became inevitable. His next film, directed by SS Rajamouli, extended the hiatus further, leaving Mahesh with no releases in 2025. His highly anticipated Varanasi project is now slated for a 2027 release.

Prabhas, despite having multiple commitments, could not release a film this year. Production delays, massive budgets, and intensive visual effects slowed his progress, especially as he worked on two films simultaneously. Fans had to settle for his guest appearance in Kannappa and the Baahubali re-release.

Chiranjeevi also had a blank year, with the failure of Bhola Shankar forcing him to drop certain projects and rearrange plans, effectively costing him the entire year.

Other stars faced personal or professional interruptions: Naveen Polishetty and Sai Durgha Tej due to accidents, Akhil, Vaishnav Tej, and Varun Tej following box-office failures.

All in all, numerous leading actors stayed away from theatres in 2025, leaving a noticeable void at the box office and making the year unusually quiet for star-driven Tollywood releases.

Ram Pothineni at a Career Crossroads: Box Office Struggles and Future Prospects

Share

Ram Pothineni’s recent film choices have left audiences and the industry pondering the next move in his career. When he attempted a mass entertainer like Skanda, theatre turnout was underwhelming. A feel-good film like Andhra King Taluka failed to recover costs, leaving both buyers and the producer facing significant losses. Even earlier ventures in the thriller genre could not make an impact at the box office.

Despite some films receiving positive word of mouth, they could not sustain theatrical runs, placing Ram’s career at a critical juncture. Currently, discussions are reportedly ongoing with RK Media for a potential project. However, repeated box office disappointments have significantly weakened his theatrical market value, now estimated at under ₹20 crore, while his OTT presence remains relatively stable.

Under these circumstances, producing a film with Ram would require a minimum budget of around ₹50 crore, with Andhra King Taluka itself reportedly costing close to ₹65 crore. Even a project made within this budget seems commercially risky in today’s market conditions.

The bigger challenge lies in determining what type of film could draw audiences back to theatres and who among producers will be willing to invest with confidence given the present uncertainties surrounding his market viability.

Dhurandhar Telugu Version Expected on December 19

Share

Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar continues to create a strong buzz following its worldwide release on December 5. While the film has been performing well with its core audience, a significant section of viewers from the South has been requesting dubbed versions.

In recent days, social media has seen a surge in demands for Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam releases. The demand has grown substantial enough to attract attention from trade circles. According to industry sources, a Telugu dubbed version of Dhurandhar is reportedly in the works and is expected to hit theatres on December 19.

Although the makers have not made an official announcement yet, discussions are said to be progressing quickly, with an update likely soon. Adding to the excitement, there is stiff competition for the Telugu distribution rights, with multiple parties reportedly vying for the opportunity. Rumours suggest that Allu Aravind may acquire the rights and release the Telugu version under the Geetha Arts banner, potentially ensuring a strong release strategy across Telugu states.

Fans are eagerly awaiting official confirmation from the makers as anticipation for the South release continues to grow.

Roshan Kanakala Back to Square One After Two Film Failures

Share

Roshan Kanakala, son of popular television anchor Suma Kanakala and actor Rajeev Kanakala, made his acting debut with Bubblegum. Unfortunately, the film failed to create an impact at the box office or earn favorable reviews.

It was widely reported that Suma Kanakala invested her own money to launch her son. While Bubblegum did not recover its costs, such financial backing is often viewed as a natural part of supporting a child’s entry into the film industry.

Roshan was later given a second opportunity, this time under the banner of leading production house People Media Factory. Expectations were noticeably higher for his sophomore project Mowgli, especially as it was directed by Sandeep Raj, who had earned critical acclaim with Color Photo. The collaboration was seen as a potential turning point for the young actor.

However, like many filmmakers who face challenges with their second outing, Sandeep Raj could not replicate his earlier success. Mowgli ended up being an even bigger disappointment than Bubblegum, failing to connect with audiences despite strong production values and promotional backing.

With neither of his first two films yielding positive results, Roshan Kanakala now finds himself at a crucial juncture in his career. How he reassesses his choices and charts his next move remains to be seen.

Shruti Haasan Heads on a Long-Overdue Vacation

Share

Actress Shruti Haasan has finally taken some time off after months of packed schedules and professional commitments. The actress is currently enjoying a much-needed vacation, giving herself a break from continuous work.

Shruti shared a cheerful selfie on her Instagram stories from aboard a flight, looking relaxed and happy. While she did not disclose her destination or the duration of her trip, the post clearly reflected her excitement about the long-overdue getaway.

On the work front, Shruti Haasan was last seen in Coolie, where she played the role of Preethi Rajasekar. The film featured an ensemble cast that included stalwarts of Indian cinema such as Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, and Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in a special cameo.

Coolie revolves around a former coolie union leader who investigates the mysterious death of his close friend, leading him into the depths of a powerful crime syndicate. The film was officially announced in September 2023 under the tentative title Thalaivar 171, marking Rajinikanth’s 171st film as a lead actor. The official title was unveiled in April 2024, with principal photography carried out between July 2024 and March 2025 across multiple locations including Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, and Bangkok.

Looking ahead, Shruti Haasan will next be seen in Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam. The first installment, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, released in 2023 and emerged as a massive success. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the epic neo-noir action thriller stars Prabhas in the lead and features an ensemble cast including John Vijay, Easwari Rao, Tinnu Anand, Devaraj, Brahmaji, and Mime Gopi. Set in the dystopian city-state of Khansaar, the film explores the deep bond between Deva, the exiled prince, and Varadha, the reigning prince, as political conspiracies threaten the kingdom.

With exciting projects lined up, Shruti’s brief vacation comes as a refreshing pause before she returns to the spotlight.

Ranveer Singh–Kantara Gesture Sparks Controversy

Share

star Ranveer Singh is no stranger to controversies. Since the early days of his career, even incidents without any intention to offend have occasionally landed him in trouble.

During the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa last month, Ranveer Singh showered praise on Rishab Shetty for his powerful performance in Kantara: Chapter 1. However, while expressing his admiration on stage, Ranveer went a step further by imitating Goddess Chamundi. This gesture did not sit well with a section of Kannadigas and Hindu audiences.

Interestingly, Rishab Shetty had reportedly hinted to Ranveer beforehand to avoid such gestures before he came on stage. Despite this, Ranveer proceeded. Though the act was intended as a form of appreciation, devotional sentiments are deeply sensitive, and such portrayals can easily hurt religious emotions. The situation worsened when Ranveer, in the heat of the moment, allegedly referred to Goddess Chamundi as a “female ghost,” which triggered widespread outrage on social media.

Following the backlash, Ranveer Singh issued an apology via Instagram, clarifying that he never intended to disrespect any culture or belief and expressing regret if his actions hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Now, Rishab Shetty has finally responded to the incident, without directly naming Ranveer Singh. Speaking at a Behindwoods event in Chennai recently, Rishab stated that imitating divine elements on stage, in reels, or on social media is inappropriate. He openly mentioned that such acts make him feel “uncomfortable.” Rishab also revealed that he and the Kantara team have repeatedly requested people not to casually recreate or imitate divine references.

The episode once again underlines how even unintentional gestures can spark controversy. It serves as a reminder for actors and public figures to exercise greater sensitivity while dealing with matters of faith, culture, and devotion—especially on public platforms.

Pathaan 2 Buzz: Is NTR Set to Join Shah Rukh Khan’s Spy Universe Again?

Share

Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan’s next big outing is expected to be Pathaan 2. While an official announcement is still awaited, the project is said to be confirmed and will be bankrolled by Yash Raj Films as part of the popular YRF Spy Universe.

The latest buzz in Hindi film circles suggests that NTR is reportedly in talks for the film. Notably, NTR has already been associated with the YRF Spy Universe through War 2, where he shared screen space with Hrithik Roshan. The film carried massive expectations, but its outcome reportedly failed to meet both audience and fan expectations.

Following the film’s response, NTR faced criticism for his role, with reports indicating that his performance did not live up to the hype among his fan base. After this setback, the actor is believed to have shifted his focus firmly back to Telugu cinema, prioritizing projects closer to home.

However, fresh speculation claims that YRF has once again approached NTR, this time for Pathaan 2. Discussions are said to be in an early stage, with the makers exploring the possibility of integrating NTR’s character into the franchise’s flagship film to amplify the impact of his screen presence alongside Shah Rukh Khan.

In reality, NTR’s schedule is already packed for the next three years, making it challenging for him to accommodate dates for another Hindi project. Additionally, it remains uncertain whether NTR would be willing to take on another high-risk Bollywood assignment after the War 2 experience.

For now, there is no official confirmation from either side, and all developments remain in the realm of speculation. Until clarity emerges, the gossip continues to fuel curiosity among fans and industry watchers alike.

Akira Nandan Launch: Pan World Film Talk Creates Massive Buzz

Share

Akira Nandan’s launch has emerged as one of the most eagerly anticipated debuts in Telugu cinema. As the son of Power Star Pawan Kalyan, Akira already enjoys immense curiosity and admiration among Mega fans and the younger generation. Despite staying away from films so far, even his rare public appearances or birthday celebrations are enough to set social media abuzz.

In recent times, Akira has been spotted at select public and private events alongside his father, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. These appearances have only intensified the buzz, with fans and netizens taking note of his impressive physique, height, and confident body language. His visible transformation has caught the attention not just of Mega fans, but also of the general Tollywood audience. Adding to the intrigue, Akira has also been accompanying Pawan Kalyan on spiritual tours, which has further enhanced the curiosity and admiration surrounding him.

At present, Akira is said to be focusing on music and martial arts, while reports suggest that he has also begun training in acting. Industry circles strongly believe that his screen debut is only a matter of time, likely a few years down the line. Naturally, there is growing speculation about who will launch him and which banner and director will shoulder the responsibility of introducing him to cinema.

In this context, People Media Factory head T G Vishwaprasad has made a striking statement that grabbed attention. Speaking in an interview, Vishwaprasad opened up about his bond with Pawan Kalyan and the possibility of collaborating with him again. When asked about Akira, he said that if he ever gets the opportunity to launch him, it would not be a pan-India film but a pan-world project.

Vishwaprasad confidently stated that People Media Factory would be keen on launching Akira if the chance arises and revealed that the banner is already developing a pan-world subject, which will be officially announced soon. He added that Akira’s height, personality, and overall presence make him perfect hero material, expressing strong interest and belief in Akira’s potential as a future star.

With such statements coming from a leading producer, the excitement around Akira Nandan’s debut has only grown stronger, making his eventual launch one of the most watched developments in Tollywood.
