Mithra Mandali: Forced Laughs, Weak Plot

Share

Following Priyadarshi’s acclaimed performance in Court, Vishnu Oi’s comic brilliance in Mad Square, and Niharika NM’s Telugu debut, expectations were high for Mithra Mandali. With Bunny Vas presenting, the buzz was real—but does the film live up to it?

Story:
The film opens at a local police station, where officer Sagar K. Chandra (Vennela Kishore) refuses to file a complaint. At the same time, MLA aspirant Tutte Narayana (VTV Ganesh) rushes in, claiming his daughter Swecha (Niharika NM) has gone missing. It soon emerges that Swecha eloped with Chaitanya (Priyadarshi) and his group of friends, the “Mithra Mandali.” The rest of the story follows their romance and how a simple elopement escalates into a full-blown kidnapping drama.

Performances:
Priyadarshi blends into the ensemble, with his role largely confined to the romantic track and a song sequence. Vishnu Oi delivers occasional laughs, while Rag Mayur is decent in comic timing. Prasad Behara’s comedy, however, mostly falls flat. Vennela Kishore and Satya provide some levity, and VTV Ganesh performs reliably. Niharika NM has screen presence but doesn’t leave a lasting impression.

Technical Aspects:
The background score complements the comedy, and the songs are humorous. Cinematography is functional, while the screenplay lacks finesse and feels inspired by Jathi Rathnalu. Other technical departments meet basic expectations.

Highlights:

  • A few genuinely funny moments, including the meta gag and select scenes with Vennela Kishore and Satya

Drawbacks:

  • Silly and incoherent overall setup
  • Repetitive jokes and sequences
  • Lack of strong storytelling

Analysis:
Mithra Mandali is built on a thin premise and unfolds like loosely connected skits. The idea of parallel storylines—a politician framing his daughter’s elopement as a kidnapping and the chain of events leading to it—starts off clever but loses novelty quickly.

Instead of mining humor consistently from this setup, the film stretches scenes, recycles jokes, and fails to maintain comic timing. A few meta jokes and English-language bits land, but repetitive subplots about buying drinks, borrowing money, and Prasad Behara’s portions test patience.

Sharp writing and precise timing are essential for plot-less comedies, but both are missing. Even Satya’s supposedly “important” character feels illogical. Priyadarshi is relegated back to a comedian rather than emerging as a lead actor.

Bottom Line:
Mithra Mandali offers sporadic laughs but is largely repetitive and incoherent. While a few scenes work, the farcical execution and weak screenplay make it a dull watch overall.

Vetrimaaran & Simbu’s ‘Arasan’ Set for Tamil-Telugu Promos

Share

Director Vetrimaaran and actor Simbu are teaming up for an exciting new film set in the Vada Chennai universe. While not a direct sequel, the project expands the world introduced in Vada Chennai, marking Vetrimaaran’s first venture into creating a cinematic universe.

Titled Arasan in Tamil, the film’s promo is set to release in theatres across Tamil Nadu on October 16, with plans to attach it to Diwali releases. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his first collaboration with both Simbu and Vetrimaaran.

The Telugu version, titled Samrajyam, will have its promo launched by Jr NTR on October 17, fueling speculation about a possible collaboration between NTR, Vetrimaaran, or Simbu. During Devara promotions in Chennai, NTR expressed interest in working with Vetrimaaran, even considering a Tamil film that could later be dubbed into Telugu. Vetrimaaran confirmed that discussions have taken place and plans for collaboration are in motion once current projects are completed.

Meanwhile, NTR is busy with Devara Part 2, currently in pre-production. While the sequel continues the story from Part 1, it will introduce new characters, and reports suggest that Simbu has been approached for a key role. If everything aligns, fans may soon witness either NTR teaming up with Vetrimaaran or sharing the screen with Simbu in Devara 2.

Chiranjeevi’s Meesala Pilla Song Goes Viral Ahead of Film Release

Share

After delivering back-to-back commercial entertainers, Megastar Chiranjeevi is all set to charm audiences in a vintage humorous role in his upcoming film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi with music by Bheems Ceciroleo.

The Dussehra promo of the film created a buzz, but it was the recent lyrical video of the song that truly took social media by storm. Within days of its release, the track went viral, with fans celebrating Chiranjeevi’s hook step and stylish dance moves.

The major highlight, of course, is Chiranjeevi himself. The actor appears youthful, energetic, and charismatic, and his body language, graceful dance moves, and signature mannerisms make for a visual treat.

Interestingly, the song is now topping music charts across India, an impressive feat for a Telugu track and a testament to Chiranjeevi’s enduring star power. The excitement is further amplified by this being his first collaboration with director Anil Ravipudi.

With Meesala Pilla alone setting the bar sky-high, expectations are soaring not just for the upcoming songs, but for the film itself. Fans are eagerly awaiting more musical and cinematic treats from this much-anticipated entertainer.

Mythri Movie Makers Gears Up for Dude Release

Share

Mythri Movie Makers, one of India’s leading production houses, celebrated a decade in the film industry this year. Known for collaborating with top pan-India stars, the banner recently made its Tamil and Hindi debut with Good Bad Ugly and Jaat. Both films delivered decent box office numbers, though the returns were moderate compared to their budgets.

Currently, Mythri is gearing up for the release of the Tamil film Dude, starring Pradeep Ranganathan and directed by Keerthiswaran. The film is set to release on October 17 in both Tamil and Telugu. On Wednesday, producers Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar held a media interaction to promote the film and share updates on their upcoming projects.

Speaking about Good Bad Ugly, starring Ajith Kumar and directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the producers said,

“We’re happy with the film. It turned out to be a big grosser for Ajith Kumar. While the profits were moderate, we didn’t incur losses. It gave us a strong entry into Tamil cinema, and we plan to collaborate with Ajith again in the future.”

Addressing the recent controversy where Netflix removed Good Bad Ugly due to a case filed by Ilayaraja, they clarified,

“We purchased the rights for the songs from Sony Music, paying around ₹15–20 lakh per song. The dispute is between Ilayaraja and Sony Music. The songs have been temporarily replaced, and a verdict is expected on October 16. We followed all legal procedures and have the documents, so we cannot comment further while the case is ongoing.”

Regarding Jaat, starring Sunny Deol and directed by Gopichand Mallineni, they stated,

“The film performed well at the box office, though it didn’t generate huge profits. There’s already anticipation for Jaat 2. Several parties, including OTT platforms, have approached us. We plan to start Jaat 2 soon. If Gopichand Mallineni is unavailable, we will consider another director.”

For the upcoming Dude, the producers added,

“The film is primarily made in Tamil, but we expect good performance in Telugu as well. The film has made a table profit of around ₹35 crore. Pradeep’s last film earned about ₹31 crore in Tamil Nadu and ₹12 crore in Telugu states, so anything above that will be considered a success. We are releasing it ourselves across all regions.”

Overall, Mythri Movie Makers has shown strong returns from smaller-budget films compared to some larger projects, and the banner continues to expand its presence across multiple languages and regions, reaffirming its position as a prominent player in Indian cinema.

Prabhas Birthday 2025: Triple Treat for Fans

Share

When a star’s birthday approaches, fans eagerly await updates about their favorite actor’s projects. Prabhas’ birthday on October 23 is no exception. In previous years, even while juggling multiple films, his team chose to limit updates on his special day to maintain focus on upcoming releases. This year, however, fans are in for something special.

The Raja Saab is in its final leg of shooting, with the team currently filming songs in Greece. The film is slated for a Sankranti release on January 9, 2026. To mark Prabhas’ birthday, the makers plan to release the first single from the film, which will serve as his grand introduction in the movie. The track has been shot on a spectacular scale, promising a visual treat for fans.

At the same time, Prabhas is also working on a project tentatively titled Fauji, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi of Andhala Rakshasi and Sita Ramam fame, and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. At the Dude pre-release event, Hanu confirmed that a title reveal for Fauji is scheduled for Prabhas’ birthday, giving fans another reason to celebrate.

Adding to the excitement, the recut version of Baahubali: The Epic — condensing the two-part franchise into a single film — is set for a worldwide release on October 31. It will be available in multiple premium formats including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, DBox, EpiQ, ICE, and PCX. The makers plan to release the trailer for this epic edition around Prabhas’ birthday, completing a trifecta of updates.

This year, fans will get a rare triple treat: a song from The Raja Saab, a title reveal for Fauji, and the trailer for Baahubali: The Epic. However, those hoping for updates on Prabhas’ personal life, such as wedding news, may have to wait a little longer.

Arya Inspired My Film, Says Dude Director Keerthiswaran

Share

Some films leave a lasting impact, and Sukumar’s cult classic Arya, starring Allu Arjun, is one of them. Even after more than two decades, the film and its chart-topping music by Devi Sri Prasad continue to be cherished by audiences across India.

This Diwali, among the four films hitting theatres, one stands out — Dude. Though it’s a dubbed film, it has managed to capture the attention of Telugu audiences with its catchy music, relatable theme, and impressive promotional content.

A grand pre-release event for Dude was held in Hyderabad on Wednesday, where the film’s team interacted with fans and the media.

Director Keerthiswaran, making his debut with Dude, opened up about his journey and creative inspiration. Having previously worked as an associate to Sudha Kongara on Soorarai Pottru (Aakasam Nee Haddura in Telugu), he shared that Arya played a major role in shaping his vision for Dude.

“I love Arya so much. It inspired me to make Dude,” he said, expressing admiration for the timeless film.

Keerthiswaran also spoke warmly about his bond with Telugu cinema and its people.

“Though I was born and raised in Chennai, my first film offer came from Mythri Movie Makers, a Telugu production house. I worked under Sudha Kongara, who is also Telugu, and I reached out to Mythri because of my cinematographer and close friend Niketh Bommi, who too is Telugu,” he shared.

He went on to praise the production banner for their trust in newcomers.

“What’s special about Mythri Movie Makers is that they approved my script in just one narration. They make massive films but also encourage debutant directors — and that’s very rare,” he added.

Starring Pradeep Ranganathan, who became a familiar face among Telugu audiences with Love Today and Dragon, Dude is written and directed by Keerthiswaran, with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar.

Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Dude is set for a theatrical release on October 17, promising a youthful and emotional cinematic experience this Diwali.
