TRS MLA T Rajaiah clarifies on meeting Bro Anil

TRS MLA Dr Tatikonda Rajaiah is rumoured to have been meeting frequently with YSRTP President YS Sharmila’s husband, Bro Anil, for a few days. The two are said to be meeting in a place other than Lotus Pond in Hyderabad. It is unclear whether the meeting was religious or political.

Tatikonda Rajaiah has now clarified his meeting with Brother Anil. The TRS MLA explained he had told Anil that he would not leave TRS, saying his entire growth has been with TRS.

Rajaiah said a lot of people have been meeting him after leaving the deputy chief minister’s office. While some people said that the MLA may have met Anil for religious purposes, many others believe that they are discussing the ongoing political developments.

However, Rajaiah made it clear that he would stay in TRS for the rest of his life. He said that he had been falsely publicized on social media. The TRS MLA also reacted to former IPS officer Praveen Kumar joining the BSP. He opined that the BSP was not popular in Telangana. He questioned whether the BSP had implemented a scheme like Dalit Bandhu.

CM KCR releases Rs 500 Cr for Dalit Bandhu scheme

Telangana Chief Minister KCR recently announced that his government is ready to spend Rs Rs 1 lakh crore for Dalit Bandhu, touted as India’s biggest direct benefit transfer scheme, to uplift Dalits across the state.

KCR has designed the scheme to bring about a qualitative change in the lives of Dalits. As part of this, Rs 500 crore has been released for the scheme. Dalit Bandhu will first be implemented in Huzurabad Assembly Constituency on a pilot basis, which is due for bye-elections. The decision of KCR has drawn widespread criticism from the Opposition parties in the state, which senses a poll stunt.

However, the Telangana government, on Monday, issued orders releasing Rs 500 crore. In the wake of unforeseen developments, the scheme was initiated from Vasalamarri, a village adopted by KCR.

The CM has announced that the Dalit Bandhu scheme will be extended to 76 Dalit families in the village and Rs 7.6 crore will be credited to their accounts.

Beneficiaries will be selected from 5,323 Dalit families in Huzurabad Mandal, 4,346 families in Kamalapur Mandal, 3,678 families in Veenavanka Mandal, 4,996 families in Jammikunta Mandal and 2,586 families in Illandakunta Mandal out of a total of 20,929 Dalit families in the Huzurabad constituency.

Allu Arjun is currently busy with Pushpa Part 1 – The Rise, which is in the final leg of the shoot. This project will be wrapped up by the end of this September. Interestingly enough, there have been contrasting rumors about Allu Arjun’s immediate next project after Pushpa. While a few say Allu Arjun will start working on Pushpa Part 2 once he is done with Part 1, others say he might take up some other project and possibly even commence shooting for Icon. The fact that Sriram Venu, the director of Icon has already commenced the pre-production is adding more weight to the rumors that Icon might be hitting the floors once Allu Arjun is done with Pushpa Part 1. An official announcement in this regard is awaited though.

Coming to the topic, Sriram Venu has apparently started finalizing the principal cast and crew for the project already. His script accommodates not just one but two female leads. Both these characters are author backed ones and they will have a lot of prominence in the script. So, the makers want to rope in two happening actresses for these two roles.

As per the latest reports, the makers of Icon intend to rope in Pooja Hegde and Rashmika Mandanna for the two female lead roles in the film. The final call about the casting of these two actresses is yet to be taken but as things stand, they are the front runners for the female lead roles in the film. If the two glamour dolls do agree to come on board for Icon, then the canvas of the project would increase multi-folds. The makers might be initiating talks with these two beauties in the near future. Whether or not they will come on board will be determined only as the films gears up to hit the floors. Notably, both Pooja and Rashmila have worked with Allu Arjun in the recent past, so the shouldn’t be hesitant to work with him again in the near future.

Star producer, Dil Raju will be bankrolling Icon and it will be promoted as a pan-India film, much like Pushpa.

Deepika Padukone is one of the most followed actresses in Indian cinema. She commands the best box office pull for any actress in the Indian film industry and is one of the frontline choices for every big-ticket project in Indian cinema. Also, Deepika is a very outspoken person by nature. She doesn’t mince words while speaking against the pay disparity in the film industry. She bats for equal pay for male and female actors in the film industry. She had openly spoken about the same on various occasions in the past.

Previously, Deepika charged equal or even more remuneration than her male co-stars. This was very much evident in the case of Piku. Deepika charged more remuneration than her co-star Amitabh Bachchan. This became a hot topic back then. She did the same for Padmaavat as well. She charged more remuneration than both her co-stars in the film, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. Given Deepika’s box office pull, the makers of the periodic drama paid her big bucks.

Coming to the topic, Deepika apparently walked out of her upcoming project, citing remuneration grounds. She was supposed to pair with her husband Ranveer Singh in the film. Apparently, Deepika demanded the same remuneration as Ranveer if she is to act in the film. She didn’t agree to charge a penny less than her husband. However, the makers weren’t willing to meet her financial demands and conveyed their intention to the star actress. Vexed with the same, Deepika opted out of the project. She wasn’t prepared to deduct her remuneration and after coming to know that the makers aren’t ready to meet her demand, she walked out.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who will be helming the project is now in search of another actress who can reprise the female lead role in the film. They will be initiating talks with a few top Bollywood actresses soon.

Incidentally, Deepika Padukone is also set to collaborate with Prabhas for his upcoming sci-fi thriller which will be helmed by Nag Ashwin. Interestingly, this film will also feature Amitabh Bachchan in an important role. This project will be commencing shoot very soon.

COVID-19: 8.48 per cent positivity rate worries officials in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: The official machinery of East Godavari is a worried lot as the district reported the highest test positivity rate of 8.48 per cent in the State during the week ending on August 5. The daily COVID-19 count had been more than 400 for the past 10 days.

The number of new infections declined to 375 only on Sunday from 438 on Saturday. On an average, 6,500 COVID tests are being conducted a day. East Godavari has the highest active caseload of 3,395 in the State due to high positivity rate.

Speaking to The New Indian Express, District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr KVS Gowreswara Rao said, “The test positivity rate is not coming down though we are making concerted efforts to curb the spread of Covid. We are doubtful whether it (the high daily count) is the beginning of the third wave or the end of the second wave in the district.”

Attributing the increase in the positivity rate to people’s reluctance to strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocol, the DM&HO said more cases are being reported in Konaseema revenue division. The incidence of COVID-19 is also high in fishermen’s villages, he said.

RT PCR test centres will be set up at Amalapuram and Rajamahendravaram soon. Task force committees have also been formed to combat Covid effectively, the DM&HO said. “Emphasis will be laid on vaccination and strengthening of medical infrastructure in government hospitals and PHCs, besides ramping up testing,” he said.

Rajamahendravaram DM&HO Dr Komali told The New Indian Express that a 27-day awareness programme has been taken up to promote COVID Appropriate Behaviour among people in a big way. As Rajamahendravaram division has a test positivity rate of 4 per cent, transit hospitals will be set up and affiliated to COVID Care Centres to combat the pandemic effectively, she added.

50 cr get at least one jab: FM

VISAKHAPATNAM: About 50 crore people across the country have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine so far, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday. Speaking to mediapersons, after visiting vaccination site Chinna Waltair in the city, Sitharman said, by July-end, they had achieved more than the target. As more foreign vaccines were getting approval for use in India, the vaccination drive will pick pace, she said.

Chinmayi speaks about the harassment of lady teachers

Singer and voice artiste Chinmayi Sripada has been quite vocal about the abuse of all kinds on women for quite some time. She has steered the #MeToo movement and has shut trolls frequently.

Chinmayi regularly addresses social media about rapes and atrocities against women. As the latest, she mentioned about the sexual harassment faced by lady teachers in educational institutions.

The singer shared a few screenshots of her inbox messages where some lady teachers shared the horrible experiences which they faced in their professional life. In her tweets, we can find that woman teachers had encountered unimaginable behaviour even from sixth and eighth class students. She said that it was unfortunate that school children and their fathers were having similar thoughts.

“We were discussing the harassment lady teachers were facing from their students (sending p*nis photos) / from the students fathers in this era of online classes and this scholar from Loyola College happened to share this,” she wrote in one of her tweets.

In colleges, she also tweeted that sexual harassment was taking place at research sites. Now, these tweets of the singer have become a topic of discussion on social media. Many are responding to Chinmayi’s tweets.

Telangana minister T Harish Rao asks BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar to clarify stance on Dalit Bandhu

SIDDIPET: Demanding that BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar clarify his stance on the State government’s decision to implement Dalit Bandhu scheme, Finance Minister T Harish Rao asked if the Karimnagar Parliamentarian was against the scheme that would benefit SCs.

“Sanjay Kumar should make it clear – is he in support of or against the Dalit Bandhu scheme, which would implemented in Huzurabad just like Rythu Bandhu and Kalyana Laxmi,” Harish Rao asked. Meanwhile, he urged the pink party activists to work collectively against the false propaganda being spread in social media platforms by the saffron party cadre.

He made these statements while addressing a meeting of TRS social media workers, in Siddipet on Sunday. He also alleged that the BJP activists do not have any moral right to seek votes in Huzurabad.The Finance Minister went one step further and stated that India’s GDP, under the BJP rule, will fall below that of Bangladesh’s, in no time.
