After making Revanth Reddy the PCC chief in Telangana, the Congress High Command is now said to be focusing on Andhra Pradesh. It now wants to reconstitute a new PCC and replace inactive Shailajanath with someone who could breathe life into the moribund party.

And what are its options? The Congress today does not have any leader worth the name. Many seniors have either retired from political life or have joined the other parties. While many joined the YSRCP, some joined the TDP. Some like Kanna Lakshminarayana have joined the BJP. The party organisation is in a bad shape and the party did not organise even a single protest worth the name in the last two years. Recently party observer Oomen Chandy visited AP for two days and met several leaders.

The grapevine has it that the Congress High Command is trying to bring back another leader who has left the party and hand him over the reins of the party. The leader in question is former chief minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy. Kiran Kumar Reddy comes from a dyed-in-the-wool Congress family and worked hard for the party for decades. However, he fell out with the party leadership on the issue of the AP bifurcation. He then formed the Jai Samaikyandhra Party, which contested 2019 elections. The party failed to make a mark. Since then, Kiran Kumar Reddy was in hibernation for over two years.

The Congress High Command feels that Kiran Kumar Reddy still has a lot of goodwill among the people of Andhra Pradesh for his strong advocacy of united AP. He was not corrupt. Indian Film Fraternity mourned the demise of legendary actor Dilip Kumar, yesteryear Superstar of Bollywood, who passed away on Wednesday morning. The veteran actor was 98 years old. Politicians, celebrities, and netizens have condoled his death.

However, a BJP leader landed in a big soup with his tweet on Dilip Kumar. Netizens trolled BJP leader Arun Yadav brutally for linking religion while condoling the death of the actor.

Arun Yadav, who is believed to be the Head of IT and Social Media for Haryana state in a tweet said: The demise of Mohammad Yusuf Khan (Dilip Kumar), who earned money in the film world by Hindu name is a boss loss to Indian film industry!. My deepest condolences to his family, he said. The tweet was made in Hindi.

His objectionable tweet did not go well with former actress and Congress leader Urmila Matondkar. She slammed the BJP leader for his tweet and said “Shame on you”.

Speaking to the media, actress-turned-politician Urmila slammed Arun Yadav over his tweet and expressed her shock over religion being dragged while talking about a superstar who was loved by everyone.

The actress asked, what’s there in the name?” Dilip Kumar was an Indian. The veteran actor was beyond the religions, Urmila said.

Dilip Kumar breathed his last on Wednesday at a private hospital in Mumbai. The veteran actor passed away with a prolonged illness. The actor was born in Pakistan’s Peshawar. After joining Bombay Talkies, he changed his name to Dilip Kumar.

Veteran actor Dilip Kumar enjoyed a career that lasted for five decades. In his long career, he became part of several critically acclaimed films and commercially successful films.

Dilip Kumar made a debut with Jwar Bhata in 1944.Among his contemporaries, Dilip Kumar, popularly known as Tragedy King has won the highest number of Filmfare awards as the Best Actor. He was called Tragedy King, for appearing in films that had sad or tragic endings.

The veteran actor shot to fame with Andaz, helmed by legendary producer-director Mehboob Khan. Andaz was released in 1949. Shabnam released in the same year consolidates his place in the industry as one of the prominent faces.

Twitter India MD seeks quashing of police notice asking him to appear in person

Bengaluru: Twitter India Managing Director Manish Maheshwari on Thursday sought the quashing of a notice issued by the Uttar Pradesh police seeking his physical presence in connection with a case registered for uploading and circulating a “communal sensitive” video on the platform.

Appearing on behalf of Maheshwari before the single bench of Justice G Narendar in the Karnataka High Court, his counsel C V Nagesh contended that the notice under Section 41 -A of the CrPC was issued “without jurisdiction, without the sanction of law.”

He claimed that the first notice was issued on June 17 under Section 160 of the CrPC.

The legal obligation under Section 160 of the CrPC is based upon a person who resides at a place which is located within the territorial jurisdiction of the police station where the crime is registered, the counsel argued.

After the notice under Section 160 was issued, Maheshwari told the investigators that he did not know anything about the issue, Nagesh said.

He added that even if Maheshwari appeared before them in person, the reply would be the same.

“The IO (investigating officer) was not satisfied because there was a hidden agenda. Then what he (IO) did is, he invoked the powers under Section 41-A of the CrPC, which is not right”, he alleged.

“Law does not empower him (the IO) to do so. It is an act which has been done without the sanction of law,” the counsel argued.

The Twitter MD resides in Bengaluru, and his office is located in the city, Nagesh pointed out.

Maheshwari had earlier indicated that he was prepared to cooperate with the investigation through video conference.

The case has been posted for further hearing on Friday.

The Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) police issued the notice under Section 41-A of the CrPC on June 21 asking him to report at the Loni Border police station at 10.30 AM on June 24.

Maheshwari then approached the Karnataka High Court as he lives in Bengaluru in Karnataka.

On June 24, the High Court, in an interim order, restrained the Ghaziabad police from initiating any coercive action against him.

Justice Narendar had also maintained that if the police wanted to examine him, they could do so through virtual mode.

The Ghaziabad Police on June 15 booked Twitter Inc, Twitter Communications India Pvt. Ltd. (Twitter India), news website The Wire, journalists Mohammed Zubair and Rana Ayyub, besides Congress leaders Salman Nizami, Maskoor Usmani, Shama Mohamed and writer Saba Naqvi.

They were booked over the circulation of a video in which an elderly man, Abdul Shamad Saifi, alleges he was thrashed by some young men who also asked him to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on June five.

According to police, the video was shared to cause communal unrest.

Tamanna and Mehreen are the heroines in this film.

As per reports, he will be playing a greedy police officer, who appears to be the main antagonist. Reports suggest that the scenes between Arjun and Mahesh Babu will be a treat for the audience.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy recently visited the Ananthapur district, on the occasion of Farmer’s day. During this event, he addressed the public, and for the first time, made a public comment on the water disputes going on between AP and Telangana currently.

Jagan said that both the states had earlier come to an agreement on how much water each state should use, and questioned why using the allotted amount of water is being looked at, as a crime. With Jagan directing these comments at Telangana ministers, it is being considered as if he directly spoke them to Telangana Chief Minister KCR.

Jagan noted that the Rayalaseema region wouldn’t get water until the water level reaches 881 feet at Pothireddypadu, and asked the duration for which this was the amount of water at Pothireddypadu. Jagan also said that he never interfered with the politics of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and said that water distribution between states should be politicised, as it has to do with the livelihood of people.

It is being said that Jagan’s statements of not interfering in Telangana politics, and stating that AP has always used the exact amount of water it was allotted, were directed towards KCR and other Telangana ministers, considering that everyone belonging to the TRS are of the thought that Sharmila was made to launch a party in Telangana by Jagan. Given that there are rumours that KCR is in a dispute with AP over Krishna due to Sharmila’s party, it is now to be seen what KCR will do, following Jagan’s statements.

Union Cabinet Minister G Kishan Reddy set to become face of Telangana BJP?

HYDERABAD: The BJP, which is raring to capture power in the next Assembly elections in the State in 2023, has rolled the dice by promoting its senior leader from Telangana, Gangapuram Kishan Reddy, an MP from Secunderabad, from the rank of Union Minister of State to Cabinet Minister in the Cabinet expansion carried out on Wednesday.

For Kishan Reddy, it is an unexpected windfall, because even though he was only a first-time MP, he was first made the Minister of State and now has been promoted to a Cabinet rank. The party appears to want to make him the face of Telangana BJP, as it moves forward to take on the TRS and the doughty Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Union Minister’s task: To cut into Opposition’s vote bank

Kishan’s task is now cut out. As a position in the Cabinet would add to his persona, he would have to go about proselytising TRS supporters into BJP foot-soldiers, with the help of another dynamic BC leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who is heading the party State unit.

As the Telangana Congress now has a new leader in A Revanth Reddy, Kishan Reddy would have to sharpen his rapier both ways to cut into both the Congress and the TRS vote bank to turn the tables against KCR when the day of reckoning arrives. The BJP is already gathering momentum, having bagged the Dubbaka Assembly seat and made inroads into the GHMC, its electoral reverses in the MLC polls and Nagarjunasagar Assembly by-election notwithstanding.

Readiness by Reddy-ness

In fact, a Cabinet rank is almost equal to the rank of a Chief Minister, and the saffron party appears keen on Kishan Reddy taking on the TRS with redoubled vigour. In its eagerness to demolish the TRS monolith, the BJP has been carefully crafting its strategies. As part of this, the party is handpicking Reddy leaders as it feels they alone are capable of taking on the Velamas in Telangana.

Another instance of the BJP handpicking Reddy leaders in the State is the admission of former Congress minister DK Aruna and making her vice-president of the party. And now, it has infused new strength into the sinews of Kishan Reddy by giving him the Cabinet berth.

Happening beauty Krithi Shetty has been roped in to play the heroine in this flick while rockstar Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music.

Ram is known for his energy and Lingusamy made some cool action entertainers in the past like ‘Awara’, ‘Vettai’, ‘Pandem Kodi’ and ‘Sikander’. People are curious to know how the Tamil director will be presenting Ram in this highly-anticipated film. Apparently, Ram is highly impressed by the narration of the full script and the shooting is about to kickstart from July 12th.

This is the sixth film under Srinvasaa Silver Screen banner and Sujeeth Vaasudev who worked on films like ‘Drushyam’ and ‘Lucifer’ will be the cinematographer for this film. Fight masters Anbu and Arivu who composed brilliant fights in films like ‘Dhruva’, ’24’, ‘Kabali’, ‘KGF: Chapter 1’, ‘Khaidi’, ‘Mumbai Saga’ and ‘Radhe’ are working on this project while national award winner Naveen Nooli is the editor. Sai Madhav Burra is penning the dialogues for this bilingual.

Producer Srinivasaa Chitturi revealed that it is a powerful mass subject and everyone is very excited to start filming. The first schedule will kickstart from 12th July in Hyderabad and music sittings with Devi Sri Prasad all already done as per the producer. Apparently, the star music director already composed a love song and the rest are coming out brilliantly. The rest of the details regarding the film’s cast is expected to come out soon.
