Rakul Preet on Respectful Bond with Ajay Devgn

Share

Actor Rakul Preet Singh recently spoke about her professional dynamic with Ajay Devgn ahead of their film De De Pyaar De 2. She clarified that while they share a good working rapport, she does not consider him a friend. She attributes this distinction to respect, seniority, and the age gap between them.

Rakul explained, “We don’t have a friendship. My relationship with him is very respect-based. He’s still Ajay Devgn sir to me,” highlighting the admiration and professional regard she holds for the seasoned actor. She added that generational differences influence such dynamics, noting that friendships are more natural among peers, whereas she feels inexperienced in comparison to Ajay, both professionally and personally.

She has previously praised her co-stars, including R. Madhavan, calling him an “amazing human being” whose wisdom made working with him enjoyable. De De Pyaar De 2, directed by Anshul Sharma, explores the humorous and complicated romance between Ajay Devgn’s Ashish and Rakul’s Ayesha, continuing the narrative of the 2019 hit De De Pyaar De.

Vijay’s Jana Nayagan Audio Launch Set for Malaysia

Share

Kollywood star Thalapathy Vijay, who has recently stepped into active politics, has announced that his upcoming film Jana Nayagan will be his final outing as an actor. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film is slated for a grand Pongal release on January 9th, with expectations running high among fans and trade circles. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead.

As speculated in Tamil media, the highly anticipated audio launch of Jana Nayagan has been officially scheduled for December 27th at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Malaysia. To mark the announcement, the production house released a five-minute glimpse featuring iconic moments from Vijay’s illustrious career, including his signature dialogues.

The event promises to be spectacular, as it marks Vijay’s farewell to acting before he fully immerses himself in politics under his TVK party. Organizers chose Malaysia for security reasons, as obtaining permissions in India has become challenging after the tragic stampede during one of his political rallies. Malaysia, with its significant Tamil population, provides a safe and enthusiastic audience for Kollywood events.

Fans are eagerly waiting to witness Vijay’s reaction and his farewell speech as an actor. Music composer Anirudh Ravichander is expected to perform live at the launch. The first single, Thalapathy Kacheri, has already become a chartbuster, and anticipation for the rest of the album is at an all-time high.

Ravi Emandi Arrest Sparks Ticket Price Debate Ahead of Akhanda 2

Share

The recent arrest of Ravi Emandi, linked to the iBomma piracy site, has become a hot topic, with Gen Z showing overwhelming support for him. Social media comments reveal a strong resentment toward the film industry, particularly over how producers hike ticket prices for star-studded releases, leaving audiences feeling exploited.

The first major release under this scrutiny is Akhanda 2, set to hit theaters on December 5th. Questions are now arising: Will ticket prices for the film increase despite the public sentiment? Producers are likely to approach the government seeking permission for a price hike, but it remains to be seen how the authorities in the Telugu states respond.

Will the governments side with Gen Z’s mood and reject the request, or will they allow the usual surge in ticket costs? The coming days will provide clarity. Akhanda 2 stars Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead, with Boyapati Srinivas at the helm as director.

Upendra on Kannada Language Controversy Ahead of Andhra King Taluka

Share

In recent times, pro-Kannada activists created ruckus outside some theatres in Karnataka and vandalised posters and cut-outs of Telugu films with the objection that the local language was missing on them. They demanded that Kannada language is a must on the promotional material of films from other states if they want to release them in Karnataka. However, many pointed out that it was quite absurd and regressive to demand posters in local language when films are releasing in direct Telugu and not dubbed in Kannada.

Now, Kannada superstar Upendra, who is soon going to be seen in a significant role in Ram’s upcoming entertainer Andhra King Taluka, has opened up about this language controversy. During his recent interview in Hyderabad, Upendra defended the demands of Kannada activists and stated that there is no wrong in insisting posters and other promotional material in Kannada instead of Telugu because everyone loves and respects their own language.

Upendra said people in Karnataka expect films from other languages to be dubbed into Kannada so that they can encourage them and added that there is nothing wrong in demanding posters in the local language. He even cited the grand success of Pushpa 2 in Karnataka as an example and defended that people there want more films to be dubbed into Kannada.

The anchor tried to refer to some recent incidents where Telugu posters for direct releases were also teared by activists for not having Kannada language on them, but Upendra seemed to have missed a logic on how films like Game Changer, Hari Hara Veera Mallu and OG were targeted over this language row and instead defended that there is no wrong in their demands.

It is quite illogical to print banners in the local language for films which are releasing directly in Telugu in particular places as it is customary for our people residing in and around Bangalore to celebrate the release of Tollywood films with banners in our own language instead of Kannada as it doesn’t make any sense to display them in other languages for Telugu heroes.

It is unclear if Upendra misunderstood the context and whether he is trying to downplay the issue ahead of his film’s release. Andhra King Taluka will see him playing a superstar with Ram essaying the role of his fanboy. The film is slated for release on this 27th.

12A Railway Colony Review: Allari Naresh’s Uneven Murder Mystery

Share

Allari Naresh, long celebrated for his comedy timing, has gradually been exploring more serious roles. 12A Railway Colony sees him venturing into completely new territory—a murder mystery. For audiences accustomed to seeing him in light-hearted roles, this film offers a fresh, albeit uneven, experience.

Story:
Karthik (Allari Naresh) works as a henchman for Warangal politician Tillu. He is deeply in love with his neighbour, Aaradhana (Kamakshi Bhaskarla), an aspiring sportsperson living with her mother. One day, while hiding something in Aaradhana’s house, Karthik is shocked to find both her and her mother dead. Who is behind the murders? And if Aaradhana was already dead, who did Karthik see at her doorstep earlier?

Teaming up with police officer Rana Pratap (Sai Kumar), Karthik’s investigation uncovers a series of startling revelations that drive the rest of the story.

Performances:
Allari Naresh adopts the Telangana dialect for this role, but his performance feels strained despite his sincere effort. Kamakshi Bhaskarla is limited by a wafer-thin role and delivers a routine performance. Sai Kumar talks more than he investigates, though Abhirami impresses in a crucial supporting role. Anish Kuruvilla is effective as the doctor, while Viva Harsha provides adequate comic relief. Jeevan Kumar fits the politician’s part well, and Madhumani brings authenticity as Aaradhana’s mother.

Technical Aspects:
On the technical front, there’s little to commend beyond the production design. Cinematography, music, and visual effects are underwhelming, and editing is uneven. The writing lacks depth and originality, making the narrative feel flat. Two songs are included, but neither leaves an impression.

Highlights:

  • Some plot twists
  • The climactic moments

Drawbacks:

  • First half is slow and dull
  • Superficial investigation
  • Weak pacing and narrative direction

Analysis:
Dr. Anil Vishwanath, who made an impact with Polimera, serves as the writer and “showrunner” for 12A Railway Colony, while editor Nani directs. Unfortunately, the film struggles to recreate the intrigue of his earlier work.

The first half drags painfully, with little happening until the interval when the hero discovers the heroine’s death. Even then, the narrative momentum is just beginning to build. The actual plot unfolds only in the second half, but its twists and the revelation of the killer fail to generate real excitement. Subplots involving a doctor and a politician add some interest, but the investigation often feels unconvincing. Attempts to incorporate ghost-thriller elements appear forced and out of place.

Overall, 12A Railway Colony suffers from a weak narrative spine. The surprises don’t land, the ghost elements feel tacked on, and the story around the motive isn’t engaging enough. Even Allari Naresh, trying a serious role, feels miscast in this genre.

Bottom Line:
12A Railway Colony is an average murder mystery with minor twists. It lacks the thrills and tension required to keep audiences hooked, falling short of the benchmark set by Polimera.
