“Mirai” Shines Overall but Struggles in Hindi Market

Share

Teja Sajja’s latest film, Mirai, has emerged as a super hit overall, yet it fell short of achieving pan-Indian success. Unlike his previous project, HanuMan, which performed strongly in the Hindi belt, Mirai struggled to capture the Hindi audience’s attention.

The actor had high hopes for the Hindi market, considering its critical importance for pan-Indian films. With expectations of strong numbers, the film’s Hindi distribution rights were handed to Karan Johar on a commission basis. However, Mirai barely made an impact, collecting less than ₹15 crore in Hindi—a fraction of its ₹150 crore worldwide gross.

This underperformance prompted the production house to fast-track the film’s OTT release. Mirai will begin streaming on JioHotstar in September, just 28 days after its theatrical debut.

The film’s journey underscores the ongoing challenge of cracking the Hindi market, even for actors who have delivered prior hits.

The film marks the directorial debut of Keerthiswaran and is being produced by the prestigious Mythri Movie Makers banner. Premalu fame Mamitha Baiju plays the female lead opposite Pradeep.

With music, humor, and youthful energy in perfect sync, Dude is shaping up to be a complete festive entertainer. The movie is all set to hit the big screens this Diwali, on October 17th.

They Call Him OG Soars Past 300 Crores, US Fans Celebrate Success

Share

They Call Him OG, released on September 25, has opened strongly at the box office and is rapidly approaching the 300 crore mark. Among all regions, the USA has emerged as the strongest performing territory, with North American collections nearing $6 million. The film reached its breakeven point shortly after release and has now entered profit territory.

To celebrate the film’s success, director Sujeeth and music director Thaman visited Dallas, USA, for special screenings and fan interactions. Sujeeth, a longtime fan of Pawan Kalyan, had previously received an enthusiastic welcome in Hyderabad, and the Dallas reception was equally warm. Speaking to fans, he revealed a personal moment when Pawan Kalyan called him the day after release and hugged him—a memory he described as very special.

Sujeeth emphasized that his priority was delivering a euphoric cinematic experience rather than focusing solely on the film’s theatrical run. “It feels great to see that euphoria on the 10th day in the USA. Hopefully next time, I will be here from day one,” he said. He also referred to Part 1 of They Call Him OG as a “trial ball,” hinting at even bigger celebrations for the next installment. Thaman noted that the energy from the US audience matched that of Hyderabad.

They Call Him OG stars Pawan Kalyan, Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Neha Shetty, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, and Prakash Raj. The film is produced by DVV Danayya and Kalyan Dasari under DVV Entertainments, with music by Thaman S.

Samantha Confirms Maa Inti Bangaram, Returns to Telugu Films with Pay Parity Promise

Share

Tollywood star Samantha Ruth Prabhu is making her much-awaited comeback to Telugu cinema. After taking time off to recover from the autoimmune condition myositis, Samantha is gradually returning to work and balancing her career as both an actor and producer.

Her last full-length Telugu film was Kushi (2023) opposite Vijay Deverakonda. Since then, Samantha has been focusing on her production house, Trilala Moving Pictures, which aims to tell meaningful stories while offering equal opportunities to talent from diverse backgrounds.

In April 2024, on her birthday, Samantha announced her next project titled Maa Inti Bangaram. However, no updates followed for more than a year, leaving fans curious. During a recent Instagram Q&A session, she finally gave clarity, saying:
“Finally, I have an answer to this question. Maa Inti Bangaram is finally starting this month.”

Earlier this year, Samantha turned producer with Subham, which was both critically and commercially appreciated. Speaking about her production philosophy, she said:
“I never say never, but under Trilala Moving Pictures, I believe in equal skill, equal experience, and equal pay.”

Director Nandhini Reddy, who is set to direct Maa Inti Bangaram, also confirmed Samantha’s pay parity initiative:
“Samantha said she would ensure equal pay for all men and women working on her production, Maa Inti Bangaram, under Trilala Moving Pictures.”

On the professional front, Samantha made a cameo in Subham. Her upcoming lineup includes Maa Inti Bangaram and Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom, produced by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.

With Maa Inti Bangaram, Samantha is not only returning to Telugu cinema but also reinforcing her stand on pay equality in the film industry, setting a strong example for the future.

Sujeeth Hints at Nani’s Role in OG Cinematic Universe During Dallas Tour

Share

Director Sujeeth is riding high on the massive box office success of OG and is equally thrilled with Pawan Kalyan’s positive nod to feature in future installments of his Cinematic Universe. Energized by this response, Sujeeth is already looking ahead to both a sequel and a prequel to OG, which he plans to take up after completing his immediate next film with Natural Star Nani.

However, the director seems to be giving away more than he should at this early stage. While on his ongoing success tour in Dallas, Sujeeth made a revelation that could have been better kept under wraps. When fans asked whether Nani would be part of his cinematic universe, Sujeeth smiled and threw the question back at them—only to end up giving a positive hint.

Cinematic universes thrive on suspense, surprise casting choices, and unexpected story connections. That mystery is what fuels anticipation and builds fan craze for upcoming chapters. By confirming combinations too early, Sujeeth risks creating pressure to align his scripts around expectations rather than crafting the most compelling storyline possible.

With Nani being his next collaborator, it is natural for fans to speculate about connections between OG and the upcoming project. But keeping the suspense intact would have amplified the hype instead of giving away potential surprises or teasing forced crossovers.

The Dallas special interaction may have excited fans in the moment, but it also highlights the delicate balance between generating buzz and preserving the mystery that makes cinematic universes so thrilling.

Pawan Kalyan Warns Janasena MLAs Over Discipline and Performance

Share

Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena Party president Pawan Kalyan has expressed displeasure with the functioning of some of his own legislators. At a review meeting with Janasena MLAs and MLCs in Mangalagiri on Saturday evening, Pawan reportedly questioned their lack of accountability and commitment.

Although the MLAs were asked two days in advance to attend the meeting with details of issues in their constituencies, a few skipped it with prior permission, while two others were absent without even informing the party. Taking strong exception, Pawan singled out a senior MLA from the Godavari region for neglecting constituency work and reminded others about their responsibility on the ground.

He further criticised the silence of Janasena legislators during recent Assembly debates, especially on issues such as pollution. Stressing that governance is collective, he urged his representatives to actively take part in developmental programs, maintain close contact with local leaders, and engage with the people.

“Those who received tickets are not the only capable ones. Every member deserves recognition, and we must work together for the people and the organization,” he told them, emphasizing discipline, responsibility, and coordination.
