The re-release, scheduled for October 31, combines Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) into a single, immersive cinematic experience. Kantara Chapter 1 Continues Its Box Office Rampage

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 is roaring at the box office with sensational numbers. The film has maintained a phenomenal hold through its opening weekend, collecting close to its day-one figures on Sunday and taking its total to a whopping ₹223.25 crore across all languages.

On Sunday alone, the mythological action drama raked in ₹61 crore, matching its ₹61.85 crore opening day collection across Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam markets. According to Sacnilk, by Saturday, the Kannada version had earned ₹47.6 crore, while the Hindi version showed exceptional growth, minting ₹50.5 crore at the domestic box office.

Mounted on a massive ₹125 crore budget, Kantara Chapter 1 has already shattered multiple records, becoming the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025 so far.

Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, who also co-wrote the story with Anirudh Mahesh and Shanil Guru, the film features Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles.

Serving as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, this chapter dives deeper into the mystical folklore that captivated audiences worldwide. Notably, Rishab Shetty had earlier bagged the National Award for Best Actor (2024) for Kantara, which also won the Best Popular Film award.

US Introduces 12-Month Visa Bond Pilot for Travelers from The Gambia, Malawi, and Zambia

The United States has introduced a 12-month visa bond pilot program targeting nationals from The Gambia, Malawi, and Zambia — countries with high US visa overstay rates. Effective August 20, 2025, the initiative requires applicants for short-term B-1/B-2 tourist or business visas to post financial bonds ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, as determined during consular interviews.

Under the program, approved travelers must enter and exit the US exclusively through Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), or Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). The US Department of State launched this program to curb visa overstays, which occur when visitors remain beyond the authorized period of stay.

Overstay rates for the targeted countries are significantly higher than global averages. In fiscal year 2023, The Gambia reported an 18.6% overall overstay rate, rising to 38.79% among B-1/B-2 visa holders. Malawi’s rates were 4.17% by air and sea, and 14.32% by land, with student and exchange visitors reaching 19.71%. Zambia exceeded the 10% threshold in multiple categories. By comparison, India’s overall overstay rate was 1.58%, and just 1.29% for B-1/B-2 visas.

Visa bonds will be fully refunded if holders comply with all non-immigrant visa conditions, including timely departure from the US, or if the visa holder does not travel. Bonds are also reimbursed if entry is denied at the port of arrival. Applicants must submit Form I-352 (Immigration Bond) via the Department of Homeland Security and complete payment through the US Treasury’s online Pay.gov portal. The pilot program is scheduled to run until August 5, 2026.

They Call Him OG Tops Telugu Box Office 2025

Earlier this year, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam dominated theatres during the Sankranthi season, collecting nearly ₹300 crore worldwide. Since then, no straight Telugu film had crossed that benchmark—until They Call Him OG arrived in September.

Released on September 25, the film opened to a strong response and grossed close to ₹300 crore within its first ten days. On Sunday, the makers officially announced that it is now the highest-grossing Telugu film of the year.

The Telugu film industry has seen a quieter year, with fewer big releases and several major films underperforming at the box office. The absence of pan-India stars like Prabhas and Allu Arjun, coupled with Jr NTR’s War 2 being classified as a Hindi film, left limited competition. Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu is busy with #Globetrotter, which is yet to hit theatres.

Looking ahead, the next major contender is Akhanda 2 Thaandavam, slated for release on December 5, 2025. The sequel carries the brand value of the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda and marks the reunion of Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu, a duo known for delivering three consecutive hits. The first film also performed well on OTT platforms in dubbed versions, and with Akhanda 2 planned as a pan-India release, positive word of mouth could help it compete for the top spot.

Akhanda 2 Thaandavam stars Nandamuri Balakrishna and Samyuktha Menon, is directed by Boyapati Sreenu, produced by Raam Achanta and Gopi Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner, and features music by Thaman.
