BJP MP Subramanian Swamy reacts on Vizag steel plant Privatization

BJP MP Subramanian Swamy passed sensational statements against his own party that he opposed the privatization of the Visakhapatnam steel plant. After meeting AP CM Ys Jagan in Amaravathi, the MP said that blind privatization of public sector companies is not a good thing.

Mr. Swamy mentioned he even opposed the Centre when Air India was given for privatization. He said the policy of privatizing everything is not acceptable. He thinks there should be sound reasons for selling shares in a company.

“I will go with CM Jagan when he meets the Prime Minister to oppose the privatization of the Visakhapatnam steel plant,” he said. He opined that the government should look at the case by case on whether it can do business.

The BJP MP also asked to make the TTD an autonomous body. He welcomed CM Jagan’s decision of auditing TTD accounts with the CAG and suggested that TTD should be run by devotees.

Libyan lawmakers confirm unifying interim government

BENGHAZI: Libyan lawmakers confirmed a newly appointed government on Wednesday, in the hopes it will help unify the divided, war-wracked North African country, and shepherd it through to elections at the end of the year.

The government of Prime Minister-designate Abdul Hamid Dbeibah replaces two rival administrations — one based in the East and another in the West — that have been ruling Libya for years.

“This a historic day for the House Representatives,” declared Speaker Aguila Saleh at the end of the vote.

Saleh said 132 lawmakers approved Dbeibah’s government, which has a mandate that lasts until elections are held on Dec. 24, according to a U.N.-brokered roadmap.

The vote came after two days of deliberations in the coastal city of Sirte. The confirmation came after Dbeibah last week presented his proposed Cabinet to Speaker Aguila Saleh.

“Congratulations on the formation of an interim unity government to set the stage for elections in December,” tweeted The U.S. Ambassador in Libya Richard Norland.

Dbeibah, a powerful businessman from the western city of Misrata, was appointed last month to lead the executive branch of an interim government that also includes a three-member Presidential Council chaired by Mohammad Younes Menfi, a Libyan diplomat from the country’s east.

Dbeibah’s proposed Cabinet includes 33 ministers and two deputy prime ministers who he said are representative of Libya’s different geographic areas and social segments.

Oil-rich Libya was plunged into chaos after a 2011 NATO-backed uprising toppled and killed longtime dictator Moammar Gadhafi. The country has been divided between two governments, one in the east and another in the west, each backed by a vast array of militias as well as foreign powers.

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin to travel to India along with Japan and South Korea next week

WASHINGTON: US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin will visit India next week along with Japan and South Korea, the Pentagon announced on Wednesday, in the first overseas trip of a senior member of the new Biden Administration.

This is for the first time that India has been included in the itinerary in the first overseas trip of a US Defence Secretary.

“Austin will meet with his counterparts and other senior officials to discuss the importance of international defence relationships and reinforce the United States’ commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region -ounded on respect for international rules, laws, and norms,” the Pentagon said.

Austin will embark on his first overseas trip on March 13 to visit US Indo-Pacific Command Headquarters in Hawaii, US troops and senior government leaders in Japan and the Republic of Korea, and senior government leaders in India, it said.

The date of Austin’s visit to India has not been announced. However, it would be the last leg of his maiden foreign trip.

“In India, Secretary Austin will meet with his counterpart, Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh, and other senior national security leaders to discuss deepening the US-India Major Defence Partnership and advancing cooperation between our countries for a free, prosperous and open Indo-Pacific and Western Indian Ocean Region,” the Pentagon said.

In Japan, Austin will join US Department of State Secretary Antony Blinken for the US-Japan Security Consultative Committee (‘2+2’), hosted by Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and Defence Minister Nobuo Kishi, to emphasize that the US-Japan Alliance has never been more resolute and resilient ; the cornerstone of peace and security in a free and open Indo-Pacific in the face of long-term competition with China, it said.

In South Korea, Austin and Blinken will attend a US-South Korea Foreign and Defence Ministerial (‘2+2′), hosted by Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong and Defence Minister Suh Wook, to reaffirm the United States’ ironclad commitment to the security of the Republic of Korea, and emphasise that the US-South Korea alliance remains a linchpin of peace, security, and prosperity in Northeast Asia, a free and open Indo-Pacific, and around the world, the Pentagon said.

Over the past six years., the Telangana employees have been requesting the Telangana government to accept their requests to bring them back to Telangana and appoint them in the state government jobs.

Now, Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) chief, serving Telangana Chief Minister left the Telangana employees working in the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat in a state of happiness by giving his not to bring them to Telangana.

These employees who were thrilled to return to their state after six long years expressed their happiness by performing Palabhisekham to Chief Minister KCR’s portrait.

The visuals of Palabahisekam to KCR’s portrait went viral on social media. In the video, the employees can be seen jumping out of joy and raising Jai KCR slogans. This shows their happiness on KCR’s decision.

The latest song from Sekhar Kammula‘s upcoming film Love Story was released a few days ago. The song, Saranga Dariya, sung by Mangli, became an instant chartbuster, and has garnered over 33 million views so far, and is still going strong. At the same time, the song has become highly controversial ever since its release. Suddhala Ashok Teja provided the lyrics for the film version of the song.

Director Sekhar Kammula has finally responded to this controversy. He said that his team initially approached the original singer of Saranga Dariya, Komali, but since she wasn’t available at the time due to suffering from severe cold, the team decided to go ahead with Mangli and that the song was recorded at the end of February.

Sekhar Kammula also clarified that he promised to compensate Komali financially, for the song, and even promised to make her sing the song if there is an audio or pre-release function, and even give her the due credit in the film. There was another singer that claimed rights to the song, but since Komali was the person who made it famous, Sekhar Kammula was advised by Suddhala Ashok Teja, to go with Komali.

Explaining the process of the song making it into the film, Sekhar Kammula said that whenever he writes a film script, one song keeps playing in his mind and that this has happened with several songs in the past. He said that he gave the necessary amount and the due credit wherever necessary, and was always of the mind that he would definitely do the same in this case as well.

Sekhar Kammula also said that he hasn’t been up to date with the controversy, as he hasn’t been getting much time to watch TV because he’s been busy with the post-production of Love Story. He said that this is why he chose to share his version of the story on Facebook, hoping that it would clarify everything.

KTR extended his support to Vizag steel plant agitation

Telangana Minister KTR responded to the privatization of the Visakha steel plant. He said the Visakhapatnam steel plant would not be privatized.

“We are completely opposing the privatization of Vishakapatnam Steel plant,” said KTR. He said that he would participate in the Visakha steel movement if ordered by KCR and would give direct support to the movement.

He said that they are selling AP today and they will start selling Telangana tomorrow.

KTR alleged that the Union govt would sell BHEL and Singareni after the Vizag steel plant. Steel plant employees said they were thankful to KTR for supporting them.

He said it was a matter of pride for Telangana to support their movement.

Not Sharwanand, Nani was the first choice for ‘Sreekaram’

Sharwanand’s Sreekaram is gearing up for release on the 11th of this month as Maha Shivaratri Special. The film has been censored with 132 minutes of runtime with a U certificate. Directed by Kishore B, Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta bankrolled it under the 14 Reels Plus banner.

Not many know the film is based on the director’s earlier short film ‘Sreekaram’. After the short film received critical acclaim, Kishore B developed it into a full-length story.

Andhra Pradesh witnessed urban local bodies (ULB) elections for 12 municipal corporations and 71 municipalities today. Andhra Pradesh’s State Election Commission made all the required arrangements to see that the elections are held smoothly.

Along with eligible voters, politicians have also cast their votes and urged everyone to exercise their vote in the civic body polls. Not less than As many as 78.71 lakh voters are expected to cast their votes.

Actor-turned-politician, Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan exercised his vote in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation elections. He cast his vote at the polling booth set up in ZP Girls High School in Vijayawada’s Patamata Lanka area.

Ruling YSRCP and opposition TDP are aiming to win the three crucial Municipal Corporations, Guntur, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam. Strong candidates have been fielded in these Corporations by both parties.
