The entire country is eagerly waiting to witness the intense face-off between Trinamool Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) in the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections that are slated to commence from March 27

Both the parties have taken the elections seriously. The BJP party has been using all the options to attract the voters in the state. From Union Minister Amit Shah to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath all the star campaigners have been touring in the state.

To make the polls even more interesting, current BJP leader and former TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari challenged her to contest from the Nandigram constituency in the upcoming polls and Mamata Banerjee aka Didi accepted his challenge.

The West Bengal Chief Minister announced the candidates’ list for all the Assembly constituencies. While announcing the list, she said, she will contest from the Nandigram seat.

Her decision became the talk of the town as Suvendu Adhikari holds a stronghold on the Nandigram constituency. It has to be noted that back in 2011, he led the TMC’s campaign from the very same constituency.

BJP which often wins the polls in other states by attracting leaders from other parties did the same with West Bengal too. The party had managed to attract several leaders from the ruling TMC including Suvendu Adhikari

While the BJP wants to win the seat by defeating Didi in the constituency, Didi is aiming to show her strong image among the voters by crushing the BJP leader and BJP in the polls. Let us wait and see who wins the contest.

Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta have bankrolled this project under ’14 Reels Plus’ banner while ‘Gang Leader’ fame Priyanka Arul Mohan is the heroine. The teaser and songs brought a positive response and Natural star Nani, Youth star Nithin and Mega Prince Varun Tej jointly unveiled the theatrical trailer and conveyed their best wishes to the team.

Sharwanand will be seen as a person who leaves an offer to go and work in America for doing agriculture in his village. He enters the village with a lot of new ideas and brings in new methods to cultivate crops throughout the year. Priyanka plays will be seen as the girl who pines over Sharwanand. Sai Madhav Burra’s thought-provoking and deep dialogues stand out in this trailer and so did Mickey J Meyer’s soulful background score. On the whole, the trailer successfully manages to create interest on this film.

Cinematography is done by Yuvaraj while Avinash Kolla is the art director for this film. Edited by Marthand K Venkatesh, the film has a big list of actors including Naresh, Saikumar, Murali Sharma, Rao Ramesh, Satya, Aamani, Saptagiri and others playing important roles. Let us hope Sharwa scores a good hit with this message-oriented family entertainer.

Andhra Pradesh to resort to Vote-On Budget once again!

The Andhra Pradesh government doesn’t seem to be in any rush to draft or announce the state’s budget for this year. The Telangana government has already finished its budget exercise, and CM KCR has asked for the budget to be drafted as practically as possible. On the other hand, sources say that the AP government might resort to a vote-on budget this year as well.

The Union government usually releases the year’s budget in February, through which it would be made clear how much budget is being allocated to a single state. Taking this as a reference point, the states then prepare their own budget, by also taking into consideration other factors that bring in revenue for the states.

Last year, due to Coronavirus, the Andhra Pradesh government resorted to a vote-on budget, and this year too, the government is expected to be following the same, for at least until three months. After that, the government is expected to release the official budget for the state. With the Municipal elections underway in the state, and with the parishad elections set to follow, the government is likely to state these as the possible reasons for postponing the budget announcement.

This year’s budget is going to be a herculean task for the Andhra Pradesh government, given that ti has a debt of over Rs. 50,000 Crores and the revenue that they are getting from the state is not enough. To top it all up, they also have to factor in all the schemes that they have introduced for the people of the state. They have to plan the budget in such a way that the state will manage to sustain, and the daily expenses can be met with. It is now to be seen what will happen.

Official! Krithi Shetty to romance Ram Pothineni in Lingusamy’s actioner

Turning the speculations true, Krithi Shetty has been confirmed as the leading lady in Ram Pothineni’s upcoming film tentatively referred to as RAPO19. The Tamil-Telugu bilingual will be directed by N Lingusamy who is known for actioners like ‘Run’, ‘Sandakozhi’ (Pandem Kodi) and ‘Vettai’. This will be the maiden Telugu film for Lingusamy and the debut for Ram in Kollywood. Touted to be a mass entertainer, the untitled project is bankrolled by Srinivasaa Chitturi under Srinivasaa Silver Screen. The production house is currently producing Urvashi Rautela’s Black Rose and Gopichand-Tamannaah’s Seetimaarr.

Japan to extend COVID emergency for two weeks for Tokyo region

TOKYO: Japan’s government will extend a state of emergency in the Tokyo region for another two weeks because its medical systems are still strained by COVID-19 patients, the minister in charge of virus response said Friday.

“For two more weeks, we will keep the measure in place so that we can firmly ease strains on hospitals” to meet conditions for lifting the emergency measures, economic revitalization minister Yasutoshi Nishimura told reporters.

Nishimura said the government has received preliminary approval from experts to extend the emergency through March 21 for Tokyo and three neighbouring prefectures.

Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga is to formally announce the plan Friday night after parliament approval.

He said medical systems in the region are still burdened with COVID-19 patients and more hospital beds have to be freed.

Suga declared a monthlong emergency on January 7 for Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama and Chiba that was later extended through March 7.

An emergency that applied to other urban prefectures was lifted last week, underscoring the government’s eagerness to allow businesses to return to normal as soon as possible.

The state of emergency, which is a non-binding request, centres around asking restaurants, bars and other businesses to voluntarily close at 8 pm.

Japan has never had a mandatory lockdown, but has managed to keep infections relatively low with social distancing and such voluntary measures.

Controlling the spread of the virus, along with progress in vaccination, is considered key for Japan as Tokyo is to host the Olympics, delayed by one year because of the virus, starting July 23.

Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike and the heads of neighbouring prefectures have raised concerns that a lifting of the emergency this weekend could trigger a quick rebound in infections.

Daily new cases in Tokyo have decreased significantly after peaking at about 2,000 in early January, but the decline has slowed recently.

Tokyo on Thursday reported 278 new cases, slightly down from 316 from the day before, raising its total to 112,624.

Nationwide, Japan reported more than 436,000 cases and about 8,000 deaths as of Thursday.

Pakistan PM Imran Khan to meet allies ahead of vote of confidence in Parliament

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has convened a meeting of his allies on Friday to firm up his strategy, a day ahead of seeking a vote of confidence from the National Assembly following a key defeat in this week’s closely-contested Senate elections.

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidate and former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani defeated ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Wednesday, in a major blow to Khan, who had personally campaigned for his Cabinet colleague.

The defeat of the finance minister in the elections to the upper house prompted calls for resignation of Khan by the Opposition leaders.

Khan hit back by announcing to seek a vote of confidence from the National Assembly on Saturday.

Shaikh was defeated by a margin of 5 votes.

President Arif Alvi has summoned the session on Saturday where Khan’s PTI is determined to prove his majority with the help of allied parties.

Khan is expected to meet lawmakers from Mutahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) to discuss the vote of confidence.

Sources in the PTI said that GDA has some issues as its candidate for Senate seat lost in Sindh Assembly and the Prime Minister would like to address the concerns in the meeting.

Similarly, he will try to assure the MQM-P about its concerns regarding the issues faced by Karachi.

Khan needs the support of 171 lawmakers in the National Assembly, currently having 340 members out of total 342, as two seats are vacant.

Minister for Science Fawad Chaudhry said that Khan will easily win the confidence vote as PTI’s woman candidate for Senate, Fouzia Arshad, got 174 votes on Wednesday and won in the house where Shaikh got 164 votes and was defeated.

“The requisite support is available and Khan will easily win,” he said.

Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that the vote of confidence will be held in an open setting, which means that it will be hard for any PTI lawmakers to openly defy the Prime Minister.

However, Opposition leaders are calling it a victory that Khan was forced to seek a vote of confidence, saying it was a sign of weakness and will finally lead to his ouster.

“The Prime Minister has lost the moral ground to remain in power and winning the vote of confidence is immaterial,” said Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former premier and leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

Khan, addressing the nation on Thursday, said that he would sit on opposition benches if the house refused to pose trust in his leadership.

However, it is generally believed that he will come out unscathed from the current political challenge but his problems will not end as the 11-party opposition alliance, PDM, already announced a march on Islamabad on March 26 to topple his government.

But before that an even more interesting round of fighting is expected next week in the Senate, which will elect its new chairman.

The ruling PTI announced to support the incumbent Sadiq Sanjrani, while PDM is expected to field Yusuf Raza Gilani.

In the house of 100, the PDM has a slight majority but the election will be held on the basis of secret ballots and anything can be expected.

Confusing statements by Buggana surprising all

Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy has made two very different statements in front of the media, which is causing a lot of discussions. The minister rarely addresses the media but did so after the recent report released by CAG. The report said that there is a deficit of 300% between the debts that the state has made, and the revenue that the state is getting.

Reacting strongly to this report, Buggana said that the reason why the state had to take so many debts is because of Coronavirus, which ha caused a lot of financial problems for the state. He even went on to accuse the previous government of making too many debts, but the YSRCP government has made more debts in one year when compared to the debts that the previous government made in 5 years.

In the press meet, Buggana said that the state’s revenue has increased, and in the same press meet, he said that the state’s revenue has decreased. Saying two different statements about the same thing is really shocking people, and a lot of discussions have begun on the contrasting statements that Buggana has made.

Experts recently concluded that the state is on the edge of bankruptcy, and criticised the government for using its revenue to generate more revenue, and for not investing the money properly. The state government is now expected to increase the taxes, to generate more revenue, which is troubling the people of the state. The government is reportedly planning to generate additional revenue of Rs. 250 Crores through these increased taxes, which will definitely be a huge problem for the common man.

Political analysts are now saying that Buggana has to prove himself now, by driving the state into a more financially stable position, and by putting into use all of his expertise, and manage the state’s finances in such a way that more revenue is generated, and so that no one has to suffer.

Taapsee’s boyfriend requests Union Minister for help after IT raids

We are aware that the income tax department raided the properties of Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap lately. Now, her boyfriend, former badminton player Mathias Boe came in support of the actress.

Mathias Boe took to Twitter on Thursday to tell how the IT raids on the actress are causing stress to her family, especially her parents. Tagging the Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Boe asked for help.

In his tweet, he wrote, “Finding myself in a bit of turmoil. Representing Flag of India for the first time as a coach for some great athletes, meanwhile IT department is raiding Taapsee’s house back home, putting unnecessary stress on her family, especially her parents.”

Nampally court Friday has issued a non-bailable warrant against AP Minister Kannababu and MLA Ambati Rambabu in a defamation case filed by Heritage. We are aware the company has filed a defamation suit against Minister Kannababu and Ambati Rambabu for their derogatory comments.

However, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against them as they failed to appear in court despite being ordered to appear before the court on February 5.

The court, which is serious about this, issued a non-bailable warrant to this effect stating that both the YSRCP leaders should come for the next hearing. The court adjourned the case to March 24. It should be noted that the Centre asked the courts to resolve the pending cases on MLAs and MPs expeditiously.

It is well known that YSRCP leaders have made serious allegations against Heritage Foods on several occasions. However, Heritage Foods President M Sambashivarao had earlier denied that everything was untrue and baseless. When Heritage Foods was established in 1993-94, its revenue was Rs 4 crore. After that, it gradually grew to Rs 2,726 crore by 2019-20. He said the value of the Heritage share was increased due to the company’s performance, credibility and discipline.

The Income Tax department sleuths carried out raids at residences and offices of Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, actress Taapsee Pannu, and others which had shocked the industry.

As a sudden development in IT-Raids row, gold medalist Badminton player and rumored boyfriend of Taapsee Pannu Mathias Boe requested Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to do something with the raids.

In the tweet, the gold medalist player said he is representing India as a coach for athletes for the first time, and IT Raids on Tapsee’s residence is putting unnecessary stress on her family and urged the Minister to intervene.

In the reply tweet, the Minister maintained that the Law of the land is supreme and everyone should abide by the law. He said the is out of his domain and beyond the Badminton player. In the best interest of Indian Sports, we must stick to our professional duties, he added.
