Akhanda 2 Pushes Hard in Hindi Market Ahead of Release

Share

With just ten days left for release, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu’s Akhanda 2 has shifted into high-gear promotions—particularly targeting the Hindi market. The Telugu version hardly needs any extra push. Balakrishna’s massive fan base, combined with the proven blockbuster streak of the Balakrishna–Boyapati combo, ensures strong momentum in Telugu states.

But the Hindi strategy is entirely different, and now the reason behind the aggressive marketing is finally clear. According to exclusive information accessed by manatelugu .com, the producers have closed a lucrative OTT deal with Netflix. However, there’s a catch: Netflix will offer additional financial incentives only if the Hindi version crosses a certain box-office milestone.

This clause has made the film’s Hindi theatrical run extremely crucial. Balakrishna, despite his dominance in Telugu states, has never established a strong footprint in North India. None of his past films have made a significant mark in Hindi territories. But he is reportedly confident that Akhanda 2 will break that long-standing pattern and open new markets for him.

With the clock ticking and stakes higher than ever, all eyes are now on how the film performs beyond the South.

Producers Balk at Ramya Krishna’s Fee in a ₹200-Crore Project

Share

A massive big-budget film is currently in production, with a huge portion of its budget already locked in for the star cast and the director. The lead actor is reportedly taking home over ₹150 crore, the director around ₹50 crore, and the heroine close to ₹20 crore. With numbers like these, the project is clearly operating in a “spend without hesitation” zone.

But in a surprising twist, the makers have balked at signing a senior actress for one of the film’s most crucial roles.

The part was initially offered to Ramya Krishna, an actress known for her commanding screen presence and highly selective approach to roles. However, the production house allegedly backed out after hearing her remuneration demand.

Industry insiders are baffled. Ramya Krishna usually charges ₹10–12 lakh per day, a modest figure for a project of this scale. When the male lead and director are taking home astronomical pay cheques, her fee is not even a fraction of that.

Yet the producers are said to be in “cost-optimisation mode” and are now hunting for another actress willing to work for less.

Many in the industry are calling this logic laughable—wondering how a team that is freely shelling out crores elsewhere suddenly feels the need to save money by trimming the budget of a key performer. If anything, it’s being dubbed the biggest irony of the year.

Jr NTR’s Son Bhargava Ram Rumored to Debut in Varanasi

Share

Speculation is swirling on social media about Jr NTR’s younger son, Bhargava Ram, making his debut in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming epic Varanasi.

Despite Jr NTR’s long-standing association with Rajamouli—including the director’s debut Student No. 1—the actor himself has no involvement in the film, not even in a cameo.

The rumors began on X.com, claiming that Rajamouli plans to cast seven-year-old Bhargava Ram to portray the childhood version of Mahesh Babu’s character. The chatter quickly gained momentum, but no official confirmation has been made so far.

In Varanasi, Mahesh Babu plays a dual role—Rudhra, a modern-day character, and Lord Ram. Bhargava Ram is speculated to appear in scenes showing Rudhra’s childhood.

The film, which blends time travel with mythology, has been drawing global attention, especially after the title glimpse was unveiled earlier this month. The shoot is currently underway in Hyderabad.

Fans will have to wait for official confirmation. Recently, similar speculation about Pawan Kalyan’s son Akira debuting in OG turned out to be false.

Netra Mantena’s Wedding Sets a New Benchmark in Luxury

Share

Weddings in India have no limits when it comes to grandeur, and the scale of luxury seems to keep expanding with time.

We all remember how Anant Ambani’s wedding captured the nation’s attention. Being India’s most famous billionaire, it’s understandable that few could match that level of extravagance, even among the wealthiest families.

Now, Netra Mantena, daughter of Rama Raju Mantena, has set an entirely new benchmark with her wedding. While destination weddings in Udaipur are not uncommon, it was the star-studded guest list that stole the spotlight.

Jennifer Lopez reportedly performed at the event for a staggering ₹17 crore. Donald Trump Jr. attended, alongside Bollywood celebrities like Ranveer Singh, with Janhvi Kapoor also performing, making this one of the most elite weddings in recent times.

For those looking to showcase wealth and status, this wedding has now set the standard. Anything less is acceptable, but surpassing the grandeur of the Mantena family wedding would require exceptional effort.

India is home to immense wealth, and such extravagant weddings not only make headlines worldwide but also contribute significantly to the economy. They say marriages are made in heaven, but the big, fat weddings—the ones that truly dazzle—happen only in India. After all, it’s not just how much you spend, but how you spend it that matters.

Sivaji Speaks Out on Piracy and Tollywood Struggles

Share

Tollywood is buzzing again, this time over piracy and the Ibomma Ravi controversy. While some argue, “Why pay hefty ticket prices when pirated films are available?” others are firmly against it. Amid these online debates, actor Sivaji stepped in with his perspective, grabbing everyone’s attention.

In a recent conversation, Sivaji didn’t hold back. He said,

“Not everyone in this industry is making crores. Only about five percent of heroes, directors, and producers get massive paychecks. The rest, 95 percent, live simple, normal lives. It’s unfair to judge everyone by the few.”

He strongly condemned piracy, calling what Ibomma Ravi did “totally wrong,” but added that the talent involved can still be channeled positively.

Sivaji also highlighted people’s reactions to ticket prices:

“If a big movie ticket price goes up, everyone freaks out. But if bus fares rise during a festival, no one bats an eye,” he joked.

Fans online are agreeing with him—most of the industry works tirelessly behind the scenes, and it’s not all glitz, glamour, and fat paychecks as often perceived.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for Sivaji’s return to the screen. His role as Mangapathi in the blockbuster Court Movie went viral, and many expected him to appear in back-to-back films. However, it’s been 7–8 months with no release. Sivaji did produce Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani, but the film has yet to hit theatres.

Vishal Faces Financial Crisis: Court Halts Film Releases

Share

Tamil actor Vishal, known for hits like Naan Sigappu Manithan, Poojai, and several others, has also earned a good reputation among Telugu audiences through his dubbed films. However, the actor-producer currently finds himself in a serious financial dilemma.

Years ago, his production banner Vishal Film Factory took a substantial loan. When things didn’t go as planned, Lyca Productions stepped in and cleared around ₹21 crore. In return, Vishal had agreed to give them the distribution rights of his upcoming films. But that arrangement soon hit a roadblock.

The trouble began when Vishal independently released Vagai Soodum, bypassing the agreement. Lyca Productions reacted by moving to court, claiming a breach of contract and demanding their money back—along with a shocking 30% interest. After months of hearings, a single bench ruled that Vishal must pay ₹21.30 crore plus interest.

The verdict was a bigger blow than any stunt fall Vishal has performed. His team immediately filed an appeal, and his lawyers informed the court, “He’s not wealthy… he cannot pay such a huge amount in one go.” The bench then posed a pointed question: “Is Vishal ready to declare bankruptcy?”—sparking widespread buzz inside the courtroom.

For now, the earlier verdict has been stayed, but there’s a catch. The court has directed Vishal to deposit ₹10 crore immediately. Until the entire loan is settled, films from Vishal Film Factory cannot be released in theatres or on OTT platforms, effectively putting the banner on freeze mode.

On top of that, Kollywood gossip suggests that the actor’s recent engagement to actress Sai Dhanshika could face delays due to the ongoing financial turmoil.

French Poll Predicts Jordan Bardella Leading 2027 Presidential Race

Share

A new survey by French polling agency Odoxa projects that 30-year-old far-right leader Jordan Bardella is currently the frontrunner for France’s 2027 presidential election. The president of the National Rally (RN) party—widely regarded as the political heir to Marine Le Pen—was found to outperform all potential opponents if the election were held today.

Conducted on November 19–20 among 1,000 respondents, the poll shows Bardella securing 35–36% of the vote in a first round, depending on the configuration of candidates. He is also projected to win every second-round matchup tested by Odoxa. The survey indicates a decisive 74% victory against far-left leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon and a narrower 53% win over former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, with a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points.

However, Odoxa cautions that early frontrunner status does not guarantee an eventual win, noting historical patterns where Marine Le Pen and her father Jean-Marie Le Pen were defeated by broad political coalitions in past presidential runoffs.

Marine Le Pen, 57, is currently appealing a five-year ban from holding public office issued after a court ruling on misappropriation of funds. If upheld, Bardella—whose popularity now surpasses hers—stands as the party’s natural candidate for 2027.

The latest findings come amid declining public support for President Emmanuel Macron’s political successors following the mid-2024 snap election, which resulted in a hung parliament and stalled coalition-building efforts. Another poll earlier this month had shown Bardella narrowly losing to Édouard Philippe in a run-off, highlighting the volatility of the political landscape.

Prashanth Varma: Directors Must Control Release Dates

Share

Director Prashanth Varma has consistently impressed the industry with his innovative projects. Following the success of HanuMan, his demand in Tollywood has skyrocketed. Despite some recent controversies surrounding his upcoming lineup, Prashanth has demonstrated a clear vision and strong approach to filmmaking. At the IFFI in Goa, he made an insightful statement about the importance of post-production time—an aspect many filmmakers overlook.

In today’s industry, where producers often have little control over release dates, Prashanth stressed the need for directors to maintain authority over when a film is released. He revealed that he ensures agreements with producers include a clause giving him the final call on release dates.

“I realized that either you give the VFX artist sufficient time, or if you have a big budget, outsource the work to a major company. After some bad experiences with my earlier films, I now make it clear with my producers: let me decide the release date. Once the film is shot, give me enough time to craft it properly. Post-production requires that time. Fortunately, my producers have been supportive,” Prashanth Varma shared.

This approach is something every director could benefit from adopting. Even with mounting pressure from OTT platforms and producers, it is crucial for directors to have control over release strategies. Ultimately, the director is responsible for the final product—whether it succeeds or fails—and only they can judge how long it will take to fully realize their vision.

While Prashanth Varma’s strategy has worked well for him, it may not be feasible for all directors. In the current landscape dominated by big production houses, only star directors have the leverage to dictate terms, while others often have to navigate external pressures. Hopefully, the industry moves towards a model that allows creative leaders more control over their work.
