Zubeen Garg’s Death Now Probed as Murder: Assam CM
Popular Assamese singer Zubeen Garg’s sudden death in September left the entire North-East region in deep shock. Initially, reports suggested that Zubeen died after drowning while swimming without a life jacket near the coast of Saint John’s Island in Singapore. However, his death soon became surrounded by doubts, contradictions, and speculation.
Now, in a major development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has publicly stated that Zubeen’s death appears to be not an accident, but a murder. Speaking during the Assam Assembly session today, the CM revealed that the government is investigating the case as a murder, asserting that “the emotions of the entire state are with Zubeen.”
According to him, multiple aspects of the incident seemed suspicious, and certain key elements were “missing” from the earlier narrative. Following these findings, an FIR was registered under the BNS Sections 61 (criminal conspiracy), 105 (culpable homicide), and 106 (causing death by rash and negligent act). Sarma added that even during the initial phase of the probe, Assam Police detected clear indications that Zubeen’s death was a result of foul play.
Zubeen had travelled to Singapore to participate in the North East India Festival (NEIF) and was on a yacht trip when the incident occurred. After his death, over 60 petitions and complaints were filed urging authorities to conduct a deeper investigation, expressing concerns that the tragedy was not accidental.
Responding to public sentiment, the Assam government set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the CID to examine the case thoroughly. Later, a one-man inquiry commission, led by Gauhati High Court’s sitting judge Justice Soumitra Saikia, was also formed to independently evaluate the circumstances.
Meanwhile, the Singapore Police Force is conducting a parallel investigation into Zubeen’s death. The inquiry commission has been given a deadline of December 12 to record statements and submit all evidence.

Kavitha Linked to ₹2,000-Crore Land Scam, Alleges BJP MLA
BJP MLA Alleti Maheshwar Reddy has made strong allegations against MLC K Kavitha, accusing her of playing a key role in a ₹2,000-crore land scam with the alleged support of the Congress government.
Speaking to the media, Maheshwar Reddy claimed that the state government not only ignored the irregularities but actively assisted Kavitha by ensuring that the required land parcels were transferred without obstruction. He further alleged that Kavitha’s husband Anil and senior Congress leader, as well as Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s close associate, A. V. Reddy, jointly executed what he called a “well-organised fraud.”
“This ₹2,000-crore scam is happening with the full backing of the government. They facilitated Kavitha’s land transfer and enabled the entire deal. This is a glaring example of corruption flourishing under Congress rule,” the BJP MLA said.
Maheshwar Reddy demanded a comprehensive probe and swift action against all those involved, including officials who allegedly supported the land transfer process.
The Congress government has not yet responded to the allegations.

CM Chandrababu Naidu has been stepping out every month for the state-wide pension distribution program. Additionally, he makes biweekly visits to the TDP office in Amaravati to interact with party cadres, grassroots leaders, and beneficiaries, reinforcing trust and communication.
Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan is also maintaining an intense public outreach schedule. His recent tours in Chittoor and the Uttarandhra region highlight his commitment to ground-level governance. Notably, his prompt intervention in the Uppada beach erosion issue and his proactive response to the concerns of the fishermen community have earned significant public appreciation—benefiting both his personal image and the government’s perception.
Meanwhile, Nara Lokesh is emerging as a key force in Andhra politics. As IT and Education Minister, he is balancing both roles effectively—on one side, engaging with investors and industry leaders to bring economic opportunities to the state, and on the other, regularly visiting government schools to monitor educational standards. The synergy between Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan, and Lokesh is clearly visible and is contributing to a cohesive governance environment.
Another major shift under the NDA government is its firm stance against abusive or aggressive political rhetoric. Both Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan have repeatedly emphasized the need for dignified political discourse. This is a significant departure from the previous YCP regime, where leaders like Kodali Nani, Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Roja, Ambati Rambabu, and others were frequently criticized for engaging in harsh, abrasive commentary. The public’s growing aversion to such negativity played a role in YCP’s downfall, and the NDA seems determined not to repeat those mistakes.
Overall, the NDA’s renewed emphasis on public connection, respectful politics, and coordinated governance appears to be restoring confidence among the people of Andhra Pradesh.
