Y S Sharmila Launches Signature Campaign Against Alleged Vote Manipulation

Share

The YSR Congress Party, led by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has long raised suspicions about alleged electoral malpractices during last year’s assembly elections, which resulted in the victory of the TDP-led coalition. Jagan and his party have claimed that voter lists were manipulated ahead of the 2024 elections. However, their concerns remained largely muted, as launching a full-scale campaign could have strained relations with the BJP national leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Now, Jagan’s sister and Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y. S. Sharmila has taken up the issue with a state-wide signature campaign protesting electoral malpractices, following the model of her party’s previous agitations in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Bihar. Announcing the campaign on Monday, Sharmila urged public participation, stating that signatures will be collected until October 15 against what she terms the “theft of votes.”

Sharmila accused the Election Commission of being compromised and failing to conduct free and fair elections. She highlighted that over one crore new votes were added just months before the polls, calling it blatant manipulation. She alleged that legitimate votes against the BJP were removed, while fraudulent votes favoring the ruling party were inserted.

Calling for a nationwide movement to protect democracy and the Constitution, Sharmila’s campaign indirectly supports Jagan’s suspicions regarding the TDP-led coalition’s victory. Political analysts note that her campaign could bolster Jagan’s position, raising questions about why he has not publicly supported her efforts.

Siddaramaiah’s Remarks on Hinduism Spark Controversy

Share

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has stirred controversy with his recent remarks questioning fairness within the Hindu religion. Addressing the issue of religious conversions, he asked, “If there is equality in the Hindu community, why would people convert to other religions?”

His comments have drawn sharp criticism from several quarters. While the Congress often accuses the BJP of being a Hindutva-driven, anti-minority party, it positions itself as a “secular” force that claims to treat all religions equally. Critics argue, however, that a leader in a constitutional role should refrain from passing judgments on any particular faith.

As Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah is expected to remain neutral, leaving contentious matters of religion to the judiciary, which interprets them in line with the Constitution. Observers note that when a state leader comments on whether a religion is “good” or “bad,” it undermines the very idea of secularism.

The issue of religious conversion continues to be politically sensitive. While Congress often frames it as a reflection of inequality within Hinduism, the RSS and its leaders like Mohan Bhagwat portray reconversions to Hinduism as cultural “homecomings” — a stance the Congress dismisses as “dangerous communal politics.”

NTR Resumes Dragon Shoot After War 2 Setback

Share

After a long break following the debacle of his Bollywood debut War 2, NTR is back in action with his highly ambitious project, Dragon.

The film’s shoot quietly resumed in Hyderabad last week, with the team returning to sets without any official announcement or media buzz. Interestingly, no promotional material or updates are expected until January 2026, as both NTR and director Prashanth Neel are determined to shape Dragon into a massive action spectacle.

The failure of War 2 was a major setback, causing huge losses for distributors and denting NTR’s pan-India momentum. However, Dragon marks a fresh start, and with Prashanth Neel at the helm — known for his grand scale and action-driven storytelling — expectations are running high.

Adding to the excitement, industry insiders suggest that the film might pack in some unexpected surprises, making Dragon one of the most keenly awaited big-ticket films on the horizon.

OG Tracks Kalki in North America Pre-Sales

Share

With just nine days to go for its grand North American release, Pawan Kalyan’s OG is riding high on buzz. The film’s premiere shows are locked for September 24, and advance bookings have already set multiple records for early sales.

That said, the surge in ticket sales hasn’t yet hit full throttle. At this stage, Kalki 2898 AD had grossed $1.51M, slightly ahead of OG’s current tally of $1.50M. Still, OG is closely mirroring Kalki’s pre-release booking pattern — a strong sign given Kalki went on to become the highest-grossing Indian film from premiere shows in North America.

The key question now: can OG sustain this momentum and set new records, or will it witness a slowdown in the final stretch? Recent biggies like Pushpa 2 and Devara started strong but eventually lost steam in bookings.

With the spotlight firmly on Pawan Kalyan’s pan-India potential, all eyes are on OG to see whether it can deliver history at the North American box office.

Ameesha Patel Opens Up on Her Luxury Obsession

Share

Ameesha Patel, often associated with her affluent South Bombay roots, says her love for luxury began much before her Bollywood debut in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai.

In a candid chat on Farah Khan’s vlog a few months ago, she revealed that she owns nearly 400 designer bags — including Hermès Birkins, Diors, and other luxury labels — worth crores. With a laugh, she admitted, “I could have bought a penthouse in Mumbai with that money.”

Speaking in a recent interview with Zoom, Ameesha explained that her collection is not about flaunting but about passion and personal choice. “You work hard and then decide where to spend your money. It’s your call,” she said, emphasizing that she doesn’t judge others’ spending habits.

Luxury, according to her, has always been a part of her life. “As a schoolgirl, my backpack was a designer bag. I traveled widely at a young age and saw my mother and aunts carry timeless, limited-edition pieces you can’t even find today,” she shared. She credits the women in her family for shaping her sense of style. “They took pride in elegance. Even my grandmother would change her saree three times a day at home.”

Ameesha further pointed out that she was ahead of her time. “I was using these brands when most people in India couldn’t even pronounce them. Some people say they had only seen such fashion in magazines. For me, it’s never about showing off — even if I don’t step out for two days, my bag has to be perfect.”

Despite her privileged upbringing, Ameesha insists that her Bollywood journey was never about wealth or glamour. “Good work should be the nucleus of your career. Everything else is secondary,” she concluded.

Priyanka Chopra: From Outsider to Industry Trailblazer

Share

Priyanka Chopra’s journey in cinema is a story of resilience and reinvention. Crowned Miss World in 2000, she stepped into films with promise, but her rise was far from effortless. Recently, Priyanka reflected on how hard it was to find her footing in Bollywood without the cushion of a film family—a reality she experienced firsthand before creating her own global identity.

Within two years of her debut, she realised how the industry leaned heavily toward star kids. Legacy surnames opened doors instantly, while outsiders had to fight to be seen. Despite her pageant fame, Priyanka often felt invisible, with determination becoming her strongest ally. At the same time, she remained aware of how many talented newcomers never even got a chance to prove themselves.

This understanding inspired her to establish Purple Pebble Pictures in 2015. True to her vision, the company’s debut was a Bhojpuri film in 2016—not a glamorous star vehicle, but a platform for regional stories and fresh voices. Priyanka deliberately chose to invest in small-budget cinema, carving out opportunities for dreamers like herself.

Today, while she juggles projects across Hollywood and India, Priyanka continues to speak with the honesty of lived experience. Her words strip away the glitter, highlighting the grit, rejection, and resilience that truly shape a career. More than just a global star, she has evolved into a mentor and enabler, proving that courage and consistency can challenge an entire system.

Meena Breaks Silence on Rumors and Loss

Share

Grief is heavy on its own, but for actress Meena, it also carried the weight of unwanted gossip. After the passing of her husband, baseless stories began to circulate, linking her to remarriages and false relationships. For a long time, she chose silence. Now, on Jagapathi Babu’s talk show Jayammu Nishchayammura, she finally spoke her heart out.

Meena candidly shared her journey — the highs and lows of her career, and the painful realities behind the screen. She recalled how, when her films failed, she was offered roles for meager pay. But when those same films later became hits, the very people who hired her would act indifferent. That hypocrisy stung, but what hurt her most were the cruel rumors that followed her husband’s death. Reports casually tied her to divorced actors or wrote of marriages that never happened. “Don’t they have families? How can they write such things?” she questioned.

With firm clarity, Meena dismissed all such gossip, calling it a product of sensational headlines. “It was the media that married me to many people,” she said, pointing out the insensitivity she endured while still mourning her loss.

Her honest words have struck a chord online, with fans rallying behind her and recalling her memorable performances in films like Drishyam. Even today, as she shines in strong mother roles, Meena’s real-life strength speaks louder. Behind the star is a woman who has faced loss, judgment, and misrepresentation — yet continues to stand tall, choosing truth over silence.
