Atlee’s AA22xA6: High-Octane Action Shoot Begins

Director Atlee is progressing full steam on his ambitious action-driven parallel-universe drama, AA22xA6. Following a 50-day shooting stint in Mumbai, which concluded with an elaborate dance sequence, the production is set to move to Abu Dhabi next month for its second schedule, focusing on high-octane action set pieces.
A source from the production revealed that Atlee has collaborated with 15 reputed writers from across India to refine storyboarding and creative elements. The UAE leg, scheduled for October, will capture major action sequences amidst the striking red dunes of Liwa Oasis.
The ensemble cast includes Deepika Padukone, who is expected to join the team for the Abu Dhabi schedule, alongside Rashmika Mandanna, Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor, and Ramya Krishnan.
Beyond action choreography, Atlee is actively consulting top VFX houses and scouting international marketing partners. Backed by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, the film is planning a global promotional campaign. Alexandra E. Visconti, EVP of Creative Content at Connekkt MobScene, was recently spotted in Mumbai in connection with the project.
With a pan-India appeal and a high budget estimated at around ₹600 crore, AA22xA6 is also exploring strategies to target international audiences. Allu Arjun is slated to travel to the U.S. this month to oversee VFX-related work, underscoring the production’s commitment to world-class visual storytelling.
xAI Cuts 500 Jobs, Shifts Focus to Specialist AI Tutors

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has undertaken a significant restructuring, resulting in the layoff of nearly 500 employees from its data annotation team, the company’s largest unit. This team, responsible for serving as “generalist AI tutors,” played a key role in training Grok, xAI’s chatbot.
Employees affected by the layoffs will continue to receive pay through the end of their contracts or until November 30, although their access to company systems has been revoked immediately.
The move signals a major strategic shift for xAI. While the generalist tutor team has been largely eliminated, the company has announced plans to expand its specialist AI tutor team tenfold, emphasizing a focus on highly skilled, targeted roles. Despite the cuts, xAI confirmed it is continuing to recruit across other areas of the business.
The timing comes shortly after the departure of xAI’s Chief Financial Officer, Mike Liberatore, who left the company in July after a brief tenure. Industry analysts suggest that the layoffs reflect a broader effort to streamline operations, reduce reliance on large-scale data labeling teams, and pivot toward specialist expertise and automation as central drivers of AI development.
Hari Gowra: Rising Telugu Music Composer

Hari Gowra’s journey in the Telugu film industry reflects perseverance, talent, and a growing recognition for his musical prowess. He made his debut as a music composer with Tungabhadra in 2015. While his early projects did not achieve the success he had hoped for, his dedication to his craft never wavered.
A major turning point in his career came with Teja Sajja’s HanuMan. The film became a commercial hit, and Hari Gowra’s background score was widely praised for its emotional depth and impact, leaving audiences with memorable, goosebump-inducing moments. Following this, he impressed once again with his work on Mirai, also starring Teja Sajja. Released to acclaim, the film highlighted Hari Gowra’s meticulous approach to scoring, ensuring that every scene resonated with the intended emotion. Both the background score and the audio songs received positive responses from audiences and critics alike.
With the success of Mirai, Hari Gowra has secured future projects with production house People Media Factory, and industry offers are rapidly increasing. At a time when Telugu film music has been dominated by names like Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) and Thaman, and younger composers such as Mickey J Meyer, Gopi Sundar, Vishal Chandrasekhar, Bheems, and Radhan struggle with consistency in background scoring, Hari Gowra emerges as a promising talent poised to redefine the musical landscape. Following in the footsteps of composers like Sricharan Pakala, he brings a fresh perspective to film scoring, making him one of the most exciting composers of this generation.
Karthik Ghattamaneni to Lens Chiranjeevi’s Next Film

Karthik Ghattamaneni, a talented technician known for his exceptional work as a cinematographer on several hit films, has made a mark in the industry. While his directorial ventures, including Surya vs Surya and Eagle, failed to make a significant impact, his recent film Mirai emerged as a pleasant surprise, showcasing his ability to handle large-scale projects with technical finesse.
Now, Karthik is poised to take a significant step forward with a major opportunity: working on Megastar Chiranjeevi’s next project. Notably, he will join the film as a cinematographer rather than director. Reports indicate that the makers of the upcoming film, directed by Bobby, approached Karthik to helm the camera department. Expressing keen interest, he is yet to officially sign the agreement.
This project marks a milestone in Karthik’s career, as it will be his first time working as a cinematographer for a top-tier hero. Collaborating with Chiranjeevi is a dream for many in the industry, and Karthik is set to seize this opportunity fully. There is also speculation that a successful collaboration could open doors for him to direct a project featuring a hero from the Mega family in the future.
Chiranjeevi’s inclination to work with young, talented technicians is evident from his recent projects, including his collaboration with Srikanth Odela. Karthik’s work has consistently been praised for the way he presents actors on screen, and if he successfully deciphers the ‘Mega’ formula, it could significantly elevate his career both as a cinematographer and a director.
Arjun Das’ Big Comeback with OG

Arjun Das, one of the most talented actors in the South Indian film industry, is poised for a significant career milestone with the upcoming release of OG. Although he made his Telugu debut with Oxygen, the film did not provide him the breakthrough he deserved. He later starred in Butta Bomma as one of the leads, but despite his strong performance, the anticipated recognition in Tollywood remained elusive.
Arjun’s true breakthrough came with the Tamil blockbuster Kaithi, which opened the floodgates to numerous offers in Tamil cinema. His distinctive voice, a unique asset, has also earned him acclaim, including a personal request from Pawan Kalyan for a voice-over in HHVM.
In OG, directed by Sujeeth, Arjun Das plays a pivotal role crafted to garner attention, providing him an opportunity to shine once again in Telugu cinema. With his previous Telugu projects not performing as expected at the box office, this film could serve as the career-defining moment he has long awaited.
Releasing on September 25th in both Telugu and Tamil, OG has the potential to propel Arjun Das to new heights, possibly making him a sought-after actor for key roles across the South Indian film industry.
Teja Sajja’s Mirai Box Office Soars with Strong Weekend Momentum

Teja Sajja’s Mirai is sustaining remarkable momentum at the box office. After an impressive ₹27.2 crore gross on Day 1, the film saw further growth on Saturday, closing Day 2 at ₹55.6 crore worldwide. This trend—an increase on the second day following a strong opening—is unusual in Tollywood and reflects solid word-of-mouth appreciation.
Notably, the producers have not implemented ticket price hikes, which underscores the strong organic demand. Numbers could have been even higher with premium pricing strategies.
Sunday is projected to deliver the best single-day figures of the run so far, with breakeven likely across all major circuits by the weekend.
In North America, Mirai has already grossed $1.3 million, with Saturday alone contributing $500K by 11 PM EST, allowing the film to surpass breakeven in the region. The Hindi version is also showing steady growth, supported by encouraging weekend trends.
Backed by People Media Factory, the film benefits from Karthik Gattamneni’s Itihasa-driven narrative, high production values, and Gowra Hari’s impactful score—elements that are translating into strong repeat audience value.
