Ravi Emandi Arrest Sparks Ticket Price Debate Ahead of Akhanda 2

The recent arrest of Ravi Emandi, linked to the iBomma piracy site, has become a hot topic, with Gen Z showing overwhelming support for him. Social media comments reveal a strong resentment toward the film industry, particularly over how producers hike ticket prices for star-studded releases, leaving audiences feeling exploited.
The first major release under this scrutiny is Akhanda 2, set to hit theaters on December 5th. Questions are now arising: Will ticket prices for the film increase despite the public sentiment? Producers are likely to approach the government seeking permission for a price hike, but it remains to be seen how the authorities in the Telugu states respond.
Will the governments side with Gen Z’s mood and reject the request, or will they allow the usual surge in ticket costs? The coming days will provide clarity. Akhanda 2 stars Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead, with Boyapati Srinivas at the helm as director.
Upendra on Kannada Language Controversy Ahead of Andhra King Taluka

In recent times, pro-Kannada activists created ruckus outside some theatres in Karnataka and vandalised posters and cut-outs of Telugu films with the objection that the local language was missing on them. They demanded that Kannada language is a must on the promotional material of films from other states if they want to release them in Karnataka. However, many pointed out that it was quite absurd and regressive to demand posters in local language when films are releasing in direct Telugu and not dubbed in Kannada.
Now, Kannada superstar Upendra, who is soon going to be seen in a significant role in Ram’s upcoming entertainer Andhra King Taluka, has opened up about this language controversy. During his recent interview in Hyderabad, Upendra defended the demands of Kannada activists and stated that there is no wrong in insisting posters and other promotional material in Kannada instead of Telugu because everyone loves and respects their own language.
Upendra said people in Karnataka expect films from other languages to be dubbed into Kannada so that they can encourage them and added that there is nothing wrong in demanding posters in the local language. He even cited the grand success of Pushpa 2 in Karnataka as an example and defended that people there want more films to be dubbed into Kannada.
The anchor tried to refer to some recent incidents where Telugu posters for direct releases were also teared by activists for not having Kannada language on them, but Upendra seemed to have missed a logic on how films like Game Changer, Hari Hara Veera Mallu and OG were targeted over this language row and instead defended that there is no wrong in their demands.
It is quite illogical to print banners in the local language for films which are releasing directly in Telugu in particular places as it is customary for our people residing in and around Bangalore to celebrate the release of Tollywood films with banners in our own language instead of Kannada as it doesn’t make any sense to display them in other languages for Telugu heroes.
It is unclear if Upendra misunderstood the context and whether he is trying to downplay the issue ahead of his film’s release. Andhra King Taluka will see him playing a superstar with Ram essaying the role of his fanboy. The film is slated for release on this 27th.
12A Railway Colony Review: Allari Naresh’s Uneven Murder Mystery
Allari Naresh, long celebrated for his comedy timing, has gradually been exploring more serious roles. 12A Railway Colony sees him venturing into completely new territory—a murder mystery. For audiences accustomed to seeing him in light-hearted roles, this film offers a fresh, albeit uneven, experience.
Story:
Karthik (Allari Naresh) works as a henchman for Warangal politician Tillu. He is deeply in love with his neighbour, Aaradhana (Kamakshi Bhaskarla), an aspiring sportsperson living with her mother. One day, while hiding something in Aaradhana’s house, Karthik is shocked to find both her and her mother dead. Who is behind the murders? And if Aaradhana was already dead, who did Karthik see at her doorstep earlier?
Teaming up with police officer Rana Pratap (Sai Kumar), Karthik’s investigation uncovers a series of startling revelations that drive the rest of the story.
Performances:
Allari Naresh adopts the Telangana dialect for this role, but his performance feels strained despite his sincere effort. Kamakshi Bhaskarla is limited by a wafer-thin role and delivers a routine performance. Sai Kumar talks more than he investigates, though Abhirami impresses in a crucial supporting role. Anish Kuruvilla is effective as the doctor, while Viva Harsha provides adequate comic relief. Jeevan Kumar fits the politician’s part well, and Madhumani brings authenticity as Aaradhana’s mother.
Technical Aspects:
On the technical front, there’s little to commend beyond the production design. Cinematography, music, and visual effects are underwhelming, and editing is uneven. The writing lacks depth and originality, making the narrative feel flat. Two songs are included, but neither leaves an impression.
Highlights:
- Some plot twists
- The climactic moments
Drawbacks:
- First half is slow and dull
- Superficial investigation
- Weak pacing and narrative direction
Analysis:
Dr. Anil Vishwanath, who made an impact with Polimera, serves as the writer and “showrunner” for 12A Railway Colony, while editor Nani directs. Unfortunately, the film struggles to recreate the intrigue of his earlier work.
The first half drags painfully, with little happening until the interval when the hero discovers the heroine’s death. Even then, the narrative momentum is just beginning to build. The actual plot unfolds only in the second half, but its twists and the revelation of the killer fail to generate real excitement. Subplots involving a doctor and a politician add some interest, but the investigation often feels unconvincing. Attempts to incorporate ghost-thriller elements appear forced and out of place.
Overall, 12A Railway Colony suffers from a weak narrative spine. The surprises don’t land, the ghost elements feel tacked on, and the story around the motive isn’t engaging enough. Even Allari Naresh, trying a serious role, feels miscast in this genre.
Bottom Line:
12A Railway Colony is an average murder mystery with minor twists. It lacks the thrills and tension required to keep audiences hooked, falling short of the benchmark set by Polimera.

UK Doubles Settlement Wait for Migrants in Major Immigration Overhaul

The UK government on Thursday revealed a major overhaul of its legal migration framework, announcing plans to double the waiting period for most foreign workers seeking settled status from five to ten years. The Labour government clarified that essential healthcare professionals such as doctors and nurses will remain exempt from the extended timeline, while certain categories of migrants — particularly those who arrived illegally — could face waits of up to 30 years.
The announcement comes amid an intensifying national debate on immigration, a subject that has influenced British politics for over a decade. In recent years, successive administrations have introduced stricter visa conditions, raised salary thresholds, and pursued measures to curb overall migration in response to public concerns over pressure on housing, welfare, and public services.
A Transformational Policy Shift
Describing the move as the “biggest shake-up of the legal migration system in nearly half a century,” the Labour government faces political pressure as it trails behind the anti-immigration Reform UK party in recent opinion polls.
Under the new proposal:
High earners and entrepreneurs will be able to obtain settled status within three years.
NHS doctors and nurses will still qualify after five years, protecting a healthcare workforce in which over two-thirds of doctors and nearly half of nurses are internationally trained.
Migrants dependent on state benefits would encounter a 20-year qualifying period — a threshold the government says would be the longest in Europe.
Unions have warned of potential negative impacts. The main nursing union cautioned that the extended waiting period could drive as many as 50,000 migrant nurses out of the UK.
Strict Measures for Illegal Migration
The harshest restrictions will apply to individuals the government says are “exploiting the system.” Those arriving illegally or overstaying visas may need to wait up to 30 years before becoming eligible for settled status.
Officials argue that without these reforms, around 1.6 million people would have qualified for settlement between 2026 and 2030. The announcement follows the previous week’s asylum overhaul, which included shifting refugee status to a temporary basis and accelerating deportations for illegal arrivals.
Balakrishna Hints at Mokshagna’s Debut with Aditya 999 Max

The long-awaited on-screen debut of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s son Mokshagna has been delayed for several years. Every now and then, news about his launch surfaces, but the projects fail to move forward for one reason or another. Now, Balakrishna himself has once again brought the topic back into the limelight.
Speaking to the media at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Balakrishna confirmed that he will be making a sequel to Aditya 369 with Mokshagna. He also revealed the title—Aditya 999 Max. Though Balakrishna had mentioned this project earlier, his latest statement has sparked fresh discussions among fans, raising hopes that this might finally mark Mokshagna’s long-delayed debut.
Last year, the buzz was that Mokshagna would debut under Prashant Varma’s direction, with Aditya 999 planned as his second film. However, Mokshagna eventually opted out of the Prashant Varma project. Later, rumours surfaced that he wanted to debut with a love story, prompting many to assume that Aditya 999 might not be his launch film after all.
But now, with Balakrishna once again speaking about Aditya 999 Max, fans are wondering whether this will indeed be Mokshagna’s first film. Although Balakrishna did not officially confirm it as the debut project, social media is already buzzing with speculation.
For now, all eyes are on an official announcement regarding Mokshagna’s entry into films. Whether clarity will come soon remains to be seen.

Vivek Oberoi’s Shocking SRK Comments
Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who will soon be seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga–Prabhas’s upcoming film Spirit, has sparked a heated debate with his latest comments about superstar Shah Rukh Khan. His statements have gone viral and triggered strong reactions across social media.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Vivek spoke about how today’s generation knows very little about legendary stars of the past. He explained that many youngsters don’t recognize actors from the 1960s, and drew a parallel to future generations possibly not knowing today’s icons.
Vivek said that by 2050, kids might ask “Who is Shah Rukh Khan?”, the same way many youngsters today ask, “Who is Raj Kapoor?” despite Raj Kapoor being considered a cinematic legend.
“You and I may call him the god of cinema, but if you ask a youngster who is a fan of Ranbir Kapoor, they might not even know who Raj Kapoor was. History eventually relegates us all to nothingness,” Vivek stated.
His remarks instantly ignited controversy. SRK fans were upset, calling the comments disrespectful, while many others defended him, saying he simply used SRK as an example to explain generational change and meant no harm.
Meanwhile, Vivek is currently promoting Mastii 4, the latest instalment of the adult comedy franchise, co-starring Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani, which releases in theatres today.
