Close on the heels of Andhra Pradesh and many other states, Telangana, too, is going to have private universities in the state shortly.
On Wednesday, the Telangana government promulgated the Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) (Amendment) Ordinance, paving way for the private universities in the state.
The state cabinet has already approved the ordinance and the government has issued an order (GO Ms No. 16 issued by the Law department). The ordinance Telangana State Private Universities, 2020 will be published in Telangana Gazette.
According to sources, this ordinance paved way for creating separate Acts for each private university that will be established in the State.
Already, the State government has brought in Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2018.
It was only on Tuesday that the Governor had issued a notification proroguing the state assembly and the state legislative council, paving way for the state government to promulgate the ordinance.
