Ram’s Interesting Take on Direct OTT Release

Share

Ram Pothineni has shared his thoughts on the topic of films getting released on OTT platforms directly bypassing theatrical release.

Understanding the current trend, some of the Bollywood, Tamil, and Malayalam producers had taken a bold step of releasing their movies on OTT platforms.

Telugu producers, however, are still hesitating to strike a deal with OTT giants. They are dodging on this.

Ram Pothineni starrer “Red” is one film that is waiting for theaters to open. Though Amazon Prime offered a stunning price to producer Sravanthi Ravikishore, Ram is dead against this idea.

Taking it to Twitter, he poured his thoughts on this burning topic. He said for some producers, movie making is a passion, and it is a business proposition for others. He even termed some filmmakers consider the moviemaking as a gamble as well

He tweeted, “The thing about the Movie Industry is.. It’s a Passion for a few.. a Business for most.. & a Gamble for the rest.. Everyone sees it from their own perspective..”

But he has not given any clarity about the release plans of “Red” which is directed by Kishore Tirumala.

KCR plans counter-strategy on Pothireddypadu?

Share

With Andhra Pradesh government led by YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy going ahead with expansion of Pothireddypadu head regulator and construction of Rayalaseema lift irrigation scheme on Krishna river to draw six to eight tmc ft of water per day from Srisailam reservoir, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is coming up with a counter strategy.

According to sources, KCR is learnt to have asked the irrigation department officials to work out a strategy to draw additional water from Krishna river much before it reaches Srisailam reservoir.

Telangana has a major irrigation project in the upstream of Srisailam reservoir on Krishna river – Jurala Priyadarshini project near Gadwal. Water comes to Srisailam only after gates of Jurala project are lifted.

So, KCR is now planning to construct a lift scheme on the backwaters of Jurala, which would pump one tmc ft of water per day.

This water would be taken through a canal into a reservoir of 15-20 tmc capacity that would be constructed a few km away from Jurala – may be at Gudem Doddi village of Dharur mandal.

This water would be utilised immediately through canals and distributaries, so that more water could be pumped into the reservoir during the flood season. So, there would be utilisation of surplus water from Krishna river, even before it reaches Srisailam.

It means there will be hardly any surplus water left in Srisailam and even if the Pothireddypadu head regulator capacity is expanded and lift scheme is constructed by the Jagan government, there will be no water for the same.

Since Krishna water management board allocates assured water between AP and Telangana on pro rata basis, there would be no problem for releasing the water to Nagarjunasagar.

Amid crumbling fortunes and economic distress brought on by the coronavirus, the lockdown that forced people to stay at home has had a positive effect on one industry: Gaming. With more time on people’s hands, they have taken to gaming to keep themselves engaged, entertained and, even if unreal and transient, gain a feeling of accomplishment.

“We have witnessed an increase of 22% in our niche esports global platform from February to April in the Asia Pacific region alone, signifying the phenomenal growth of the sector,” says Anton Rublievskyi, CEO of Parimatch, a global gaming, entertainment and betting company.

With Counter Strike, Dota 2 and League of Legends among the most popular games offered on the platform, Parimatch, which has grown at the rate of 12 per cent in the last 18 months, says 96 per cent of new users are on mobile devices.

The way things have been going, he says the gaming industry in India is expected to garner revenues of Rs 118.8 billion by 2023.

The number of new users from the Asia Pacific region from March and April has been double the number of new users registered between December and March. Currently, Asia Pacific comprises 31 per cent of Parimatch users, and the region is dominated by 25 year old users, Parimatch data shows.

The young population of India, along with increasing mobile internet penetration, makes the country a prime location for a gaming growth explosion.

To capture more users and to stay ahead, gaming companies are competing with each other to lead innovation by offering immersive gaming through augmented reality and virtual reality, as well as appealing to regional tastes with relevant local themes.

“We are paying close attention to India as one of the fastest growing markets for entertainment technologies as we believe that consumer behavior and technological trends that take place here can be useful for further development of gaming solutions worldwide,” Rublievskyi said.
