Krishna Tribunal steps into AP-TS water row

Share

Once again Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are at loggerheads over water. As we know Telangana government has raised objections over AP government’s new irrigation projects connecting Srisailam dam. On this the Telangana government lodged a complaint at Krishna River Board Tribunal.

The tribunal met the other day and based on the complaint of Telangana irrigation department’s secretary, tribunal board member Meena had written to the AP government. In this letter, Meena asked the opinion of AP government on Telangana’s objections.

Tribunal member made it clear that AP and Telangana need to take permission from river boards, apex council and take into consideration of availability of water. Even before this the respective governments should come up with the technical aspects of initiating a project.

We hear that the AP government wants to counter Krishna Tribunal. The AP’s version is, so far the either the Godavari River Board or Krishna River Board have not responded on the objections raised over Telangana projects. AP CM Jagan is said to have informed AP irrigation officials to be wait and watch mode on how the tribunal will take up the issue.

50 Days Celebrations Of CBN

“It has been 50 days that Chandrababu has left Andhra Pradesh and fled to the neighboring state in Corona time”.

MP Vijaisai Reddy has made this comment pertaining to the write ups of yellow media.

He asked why the yellow media never questions Chandrababu’s absence in Andhra Pradesh despite being the opposition party head.

He questions how can they write that Amaravathi Deeksha has crossed 150 days when some four people are sitting there holding placards!

He also tweeted saying that CBN is provoking his slaves in other parties to criticise the government on Pothireddypadu GO.

“Their barkings hold no value when there is law and justice. YS Jagan has already made clear that AP will never take even a single drop more than what is mentioned in the allocation. Mouni Baba should open his mouth”, he tweeted.

Opinion: Is ‘Vocal For Local’ Adopting China Model?

Share

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his recent address to the nation pitched the idea of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ – a self-reliant India.

This is widely popular now as ‘Vocal For Local’, a model China has adopted for a long time and succeeded in becoming a global power with effective implementation.

One of the main reasons China has become a global power is that they have identified their strength of human resources.

They have efficiently utilized the huge man power to the optimum level as part of their local model. They have provided huge employment to people by giving various exemptions to the companies.

Moreover, they have taken care of things like Income tax on a personal level.

If we have a look at the gross annual income of the Chinese government, the personal income tax constitutes not more than 7-8%. Whereas, it is a staggering 25% in India.

If we keep aside the actual numbers and just consider the percentage, this gives ample hint that they are not targeting the individual income tax like in India.

That has helped the Chinese government to stop the brain drain to a large extent. The majority of the Chinese stayed in their homeland to make money with their skillset.

With all due respect, the Indian government has faltered in this aspect long ago thereby indirectly encouraging brain drain.

China has supported the entrepreneurs with all the possible help from the government’s end so that the companies run in a smooth manner.

But the situation is completely different in India. Either you have to get out of India to make big money or get adjusted to the ‘practical situations’ keeping quiet for everything.

The majority of the luxury items in India are getting imported from other countries. We have forgotten making luxury goods those can be marketable internationally. Now, we have got the caliber, human resources to make this kind of products.

By adopting China’s Vocal For Local model, India can emerge as a super power in a decade. Then we should improve our quality of the products to international standards to go global.

India has many advantages to become a global power in the future.

The 0-35 age group in India is 65%, the highest in the world. India is the number one country that has a huge number of the youngest population in the world. Even China can’t compete with us in this aspect.

With a huge young population at our disposal, we have two great advantages.

We have the youngest workforce in the world and we have the best spending people in the world. Because young people spend more than the aged people and it boosts the economy.

The Vocal For Local concept is certainly a welcome move from the government though it is already late.

Well, we should believe this is something bigger than mere Make In India concept.

Chandrababu’s Strategic Silence On Pothireddypadu!

Share

Ever since, YS Jagan became the CM of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana is maintaining good relations with the erstwhile state. In this period of one year, both the CMs met multiple times and discussed issues pertaining to the Bifurcation Act.

Just when everything seem going smooth, AP CM YS Jagan raked up a row with Pothireddypadu project. With intentions of providing water to Rayalaseema region, Jagan has taken up this project and issued G.O. and then sanctioned budget too.

The oppositions in Telangana have over this project claiming that the south Telangana will have no water in the coming days. Sensing there is a storm, Telangana CM KCR has taken up the issue and complained against Pothireddypadu project to the Krishna tribunal.

However, till date the man did not comment on it, and he is AP opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu. Though the ruling YSRCP leader questioned why he is still silent on the issue, Chandrababu remained absolutely silent. This is not the Chandrababu we usually see.

We know how Chandrababu Naidu became a target during the separate Telangana moment by saying the two regions are two eyes. Currently, Chandrababu wants stay away from all the bad light and is wait and watch mode so as to see what happens on Pothireddypadu.

The opposition is also ready to take out completely twisted meaning of Chandrababu’s comments, if he had many and this would bring uninvited trouble. So instead of creating a ruckus, Chandrababu is calm and composed which is not his type. But we have to see how long Chandrababu will remain so.

Vizag: Styrene Mixed With Other Poisonous Gases?

Share

All these days, there have been reports that it was the Styrene gas vapour that leaked from a container in LG Polymers plant which had led to the death of 12 persons and hospitalisation of more than 500 people from the villages surrounding the plant at R R Venkatapuram in Visakhapatnam on May 7.

The Jagan government has done its best to provide relief to the affected people by paying huge ex gratia of Rs 1 crore to each of the families of the deceased and hefty compensation to the affected people.

It also announced shifting of Styrene containers from the plant and also at the port back to South Korea and appointed a high-level committee to probe into the incident. The villagers are back to their houses and normalcy is gradually being restored.

Now, there are reports that it was not just Styrene gas alone that got leaked from the LG Polymers plant. The fumes that emanated from the plant comprised other gaseous hydrocarbons as well which are the actual poisonous gases that led to the death of the people.

A study reportedly made by AP Pollution Control Board is learnt to have revealed that the fumes that came out of the plant comprised 80 per cent of high-density Styrene and the remaining 20 per cent of other gases.

“The residues collected from the nearby places indicated that there were other hydrocarbons in the gas, which together collectively are referred to as total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), including Benzene and Ethylene etc.

These gases are said to create long-lasting impact on the health of the people in the surrounding villages, while Styrene has carcinogenic property (cancer causing). It clearly showed that the officials had concealed facts with regard to emission of gases from the container.

Apparently, there were no chemical engineers in the plant at the time of the leak and maintenance engineers also could not immediately prevent the spreading of the gases. More details are expected to come out in a couple of days, sources said.
