Why did Radhakrishna meet Amit Shah?

The sudden meeting of Andhra Jyothy managing director Vemuri Radhakrishna with Union home minister and Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday raised many an eyebrow.

The pictures of Radhakrishna’s meeting with Shah and some details about the meeting were prominently highlighted in Andhra Jyothy daily.

He claimed that he had gone to Delhi on an invitation from Amit Shah and they had discussed about contemporary politics in Telugu states and also on the present ban on his channel ABN Andhra Jyothy in Andhra Pradesh, for over an hour.

Radhakrishna’s claim has given rise to a lot of doubts because he is neither a politician nor a big industrialist and not even a big-time media baron to be invited by Amit Shah for talks.

Even if one were to assume that Shah had given him appointment following a request, he would have not discussed the state politics with him for over an hour, except receiving a representation on the ban on his media house.

But even submitting a representation to Amit Shah is also not a big issue, as he had already represented the matter to Shah’s deputy G Kishan Reddy in this regard and so, he need not have to go all the way to Delhi.

There is a talk that Radhakrishna is planning to dispose off majority stake to a big industrialist from north closer to Shah and that could be the reason for his meeting with the BJP chief.

In any case, Radhakrishna, by posing with Shah in Delhi, seems to have sought to give an impression that he is closer to Delhi bosses and the YSRC government in Andhra Pradesh cannot resort to any witch-hunt against him.

New poster of Mahesh Babu starrer Sarileru Neekevvaru also shows its leading man in the action mode.

Mahesh is seen wielding an axe and standing in front of the famous Kondareddy Buruju.

This image will bring back the memories of the iconic scene from Mahesh’s Okkadu.

Kurnool’s Kondareddy Fort set has been erected at RFC for Sarileru Neekevvaru and it looks extremely authentic in this poster.

Mahesh is playing the character named Ajay Krishna, an army major which is why he is wearing camouflage printed cargos.

We can expect another memorable action scene with Kondareddy Buruju as the backdrop.

Let’s see if this can outclass Okkadu’s classic action scene.

New CJ of AP fumbled in taking oath?

After a long time, Andhra Pradesh got a full-time chief justice for its high court on Monday, when Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari was sworn in as the first Chief Justice of the state high court.

Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan administered the oath of office to the new chief justice at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Maheshwari’s family members, interim CJ Praveen Kumar, chief secretary L V Subrahmanyam and others present at the event.

However, while taking oath Justice Maheshwari is learnt to have fumbled.

Instead of saying that “he was taking oath as chief justice of Andhra Pradesh, he read out the oath as “Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh,” though the Governor had read the sentence correctly. The chief justice, however, corrected himself later.

The video of his goof-up during the swearing-in ceremony went rounds in the social media.

And needless to say, the accusing finger was pointed at the mistake committed by the AP government officials, who the critics said had given him a wrong paper.

However, it could be a slip of tongue by the CJ. Since he had worked in Madhya Pradesh for a long time, Maheshwari might have inadvertently spelt it out wrongly.

He worked in Madhya Pradesh for most of the time, starting from his practice in MP high court and in 2005, he was appointed as Additional Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

In 2008 he became a permanent judge in Madhya Pradesh high court before he was transferred to CJ of Andhra Pradesh. He will retire on June 28, 2023, as High Court CJ.

How many times will Chintamaneni face arrests?

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former MLA from Denduluru in West Godavari district Chintamaneni Prabhakar was arrested once again by the police on Monday.

This is the fifth time Chintamaneni was facing the arrest in different cases.

The Monday’s arrest pertained to an alleged kidnap and assault on one Modikonda Muralikrishna at Pedavegi in 2018.

He was produced before the court which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.

On September 11, Chintamaneni was arrested for abusing and assaulting a Dalit leader of YSRC Cheruku Joseph who was carrying sand at Pinakamidi village in State’s West Godavari district on August 31.

He was arrested 12 days after he went absconding following a case a booked against him under SC/ST Atrocities Act.

Till now, out of five cases, Chintamaneni got bail in two cases and three are still pending. The police are arresting him within hours of the former MLA coming out on bail on a different case.

Chintamaneni has been facing as many as 58 cases till now, apart from fresh cases being filed by the police.

And if the police continue to keep him behind the bars for every case, he may have to spend his life at least for the next couple of years only in jails!

Will Jagan Settle Kakani-Kotamreddy Dispute?

The internal squabbles between two MLAs of the ruling party have caused some discomfort to Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

The fight for supremacy between Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Sarvepalli MLA Kakani Govardhana Reddy had cast dearly for the ruling party on Sunday.

The ruling party MLA had to be arrested, though for a while, which was taken advantage by the opposition TDP.

The issue between the two MLAs was taken advantage by the TDP with a woman officer holding protest against one MLA, Sridhar Reddy. This protest went viral in the social media with the TDP social media activists trolling it widely.

Some neutrals too have taken objection to the alleged harassment by Sridhar Reddy, thus forcing the chief minister to give free hand to the police, who subsequently filed cases and arrested the MLA.

The cases were too a small and the MLA was released on bail. The nature of cases and the subsequent bail too was taken advantage by the TDP in trolling the ruling party.

Though the TDP had never does against its then MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, in its government, the social media of the TDP took advantage of the weak cases and termed it an eye wash.

Now, the issue is almost settled and the opposition is stripped of its opportunity. But, the bigger challenge for the chief minister is to settle the squabbles between the two legislators.

Kakani Govardhana Reddy is a strong leader in the Nellore district politics, while Sridhar Reddy is a staunch loyalist of Jaganmohan Reddy.

The squabbles are too early for a party which is in power for just four months.

Though internal fight among the leaders is very common, it is not advisable for the young party like YSR Congress, where the first generation of leaders are holding power, unlike in other parties, particularly in TDP, where the second generation leadership is holding power.

“Sye Raa” featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi, Nayanthara, and Tamannah in the lead roles has completed its 6 days run (including premieres).

Premiered on October 1st in a huge number of locations in North America, the film grossed about 2.1 million dollars so far.

With today’s run (Monday), the film will complete the first week in the USA.

The collection of premiere shows for “Sye Raa” was huge but it didn’t add much to its kitty during the weekdays which worried the distributors.

Thankfully, the patriotic period drama made a big jump on Saturday by earning $388k at the box office and Sunday’s figure is also impressive. This brought in its total collection to $2.1 million.

On the other hand, Gopichand’s action drama, “Chanakya”, was a non-starter from the premiere shows itself. It was a total washout.

The film won thumbs down from the critics. Its total cumulative gross stands at $17k

Sensational First Sunday Keeps Sye Raa In The Hunt

It is a bit disappointing that Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy didn’t click in Non-Telugu markets, but it is not stopping the film to live up to its potential in the Telugu markets.

Sye Raa has held well during week days post Holiday release and has hit it out of the park on its first Sunday in Telugu states.

Sye Raa had a fabulous first Sunday at the box office thus posting the highest Non-Baahubali2 numbers ever on the fifth day.

The film has collected Rs. 10 Cr share in Uttarandhra and is set to cross Baahubali first week share in Ceded on its day 6.

Sye Raa has had a very good first extended weekend at the box office in Telugu States.

With Dussera holiday coming up, Sye Raa is likely to have another big day at the ticket windows.

It was expected to gross at least $ 2.5 Million in its first weekend in North America, but has only managed to collect $2.1 Million.

Bollywood film War and Joker releasing in the same weekend as Sye Raa is one of the reasons for the film’s below par show outside Telugu States, opine Trade circles.

Ohmkar’s ‘RGG3’ release date locked!

Director Ohmkar’s ‘Raju Gari Gadhi’ is a successful franchise in horror comedy genre. The third installment of ‘RGG’ is coming to the theatres in October.

The film has completed the censor formalities and got ‘U/A.’ Having completed the censor, the producers locked the release date on October 18th.

As the release date is announced, the makers will soon start the promotions and first it will be the music.

Starring Ashwin Babu and Avika Gor in the lead roles, ‘RGG3’ first look and trailer got a very good response with ample of spooky moments.

Senior cameraman Chota K Naidu handled the cinematography for the film.

Nayanthara: ‘Why should men have all the power’

Lady Superstar, as she is called in South cinema, Nayanthara has not only managed to climb her way up gracefully through several controversies but is one of the most loved celebs in the industry.

In many of her recent films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, she is at the top of the cast and the centre of the narrative.

Off-screen too, Nayanthara has assumed control of her persona—rarely giving interviews, carefully styling herself, and reacting to controversies only when she needs to.

“I am always busy and shooting all the time,” she tells media, “I am a workaholic.”

The actress doesn’t really promote her films or make any public appearances owing to the number of times she has gotten embroiled in controversies. She lets her films speak for herself and how!

The actress even posed for a popular magazine cover this month and says that she is giving an interview after almost 10 years.

Confessing why she doesn’t give interviews or attend promotional events, she says, “I don’t want the world to know what I am thinking. I am a very private person. I’m not very good with crowds.”

She also adds, “I’ve been misquoted and misinterpreted a lot of times. It was too much for me to handle. My job is to act. The films should speak for themselves.”

Talking about carving her own niche and doing more female-oriented films, she adds, “Why should men have all the power all the time? The problem is that women don’t feel confident to be in a commanding role, to be able to say, this is what I want, and this is what I will do. It’s not a gender thing, ultimately—if I can listen to you, you should listen to me, too.”

She also reveals, “For my solo films, I decide everything. Sometimes, directors do come up with sub-plots revolving around husbands or boyfriends. I ask whether it is necessary.”

For this film, NBK underwent a makeover and sported the ‘Iron Man’ hair and beard style.

This yet to be titled film is being directed by KS Ravi Kumar while Sonal Chauhan and Vedhika are playing the female lead roles.
