DSP–Thaman Buzz Around UBS

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited film Ustaad Bhagat Singh is set to hit theatres on March 19, and the movie is gearing up for a direct clash with Dhurandhar 2 at the box office. With the release date approaching fast, building strong promotional buzz has become crucial for the film.
As is usually the case, Pawan Kalyan is not expected to take an active role in promotions. This means the responsibility of promoting the film largely falls on director Harish Shankar and the music team. However, the film has recently seen a significant change in its music department.
Initially, Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) was composing the music for the film, but he was reportedly replaced at the last minute for the background score, with S S Thaman stepping in to handle it. This development has sparked speculation in industry circles that DSP might have been unhappy with the change, leading to his absence from promotional activities.
It remains unclear whether DSP will attend the film’s pre-release event. At the same time, Thaman’s involvement in promotions may also be limited since he joined the project only at the last stage. As a result, the major share of the promotional responsibility appears to be resting on Harish Shankar’s shoulders.
If DSP decides to attend the pre-release event, it could create an interesting moment as fans might get to see DSP and Thaman together on the same stage, something that rarely happens. On the other hand, if he stays away, his absence could become a major talking point.
Meanwhile, the film’s official trailer is scheduled to be released tomorrow evening, and it is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the buzz around the movie. If the trailer clicks with audiences, it could instantly boost the film’s hype ahead of its release. For now, all eyes are on Harish Shankar and the trailer launch.
Is Putin Helping Iran Against the US?

As tensions surrounding the Iran conflict intensify, analysts are questioning whether Russian President Vladimir Putin sees the situation as an opportunity to retaliate against the United States for its support of Ukraine during the ongoing Russia–Ukraine war. Some experts believe Moscow could quietly assist Iran, partly in return for Tehran’s earlier support to Russia.
Geostrategist Brahma Chellaney noted that Iran played a significant role in aiding Russia during the early phase of the Ukraine war by supplying more than 50,000 Shahed drones, which became a key component of Russia’s military operations. According to Chellaney, it is highly unlikely that Russia is not providing some form of assistance to Iran as it confronts what he described as the Trump–Netanyahu war of aggression.
Chellaney argued that Moscow may seek to “prolong the hurt” by forcing the United States to divert military resources and munitions toward West Asia, resources that might otherwise have been directed toward supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia. He also pointed out that the United States has effectively waged a high-stakes proxy conflict against Russia by supporting Ukraine with advanced weapons systems, real-time battlefield intelligence, and targeting data. In such a scenario, Russia might now feel tempted to return the favor indirectly.
However, experts believe that any Russian support to Iran would likely remain discreet rather than overt. Assistance could include sharing reconnaissance data, signals intelligence, and battlefield insights gained from the Ukraine conflict. Chellaney also suggested the possibility of “reverse mentorship,” where Russia could help Iran adopt tactics learned during the Ukraine war. These include coordinating large-scale drone swarms with ballistic missile strikes to overwhelm Western-supplied air defense systems such as Patriot and IRIS-T. Russia has become increasingly adept at such strategies, while Iran is still developing similar capabilities.
Meanwhile, the United States has issued a 30-day waiver allowing countries to purchase sanctioned Russian oil and petroleum products currently at sea. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the move is intended to stabilize global energy markets, which have been shaken by the Iran conflict and disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Responding to the decision, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia views the waiver as an attempt by Washington to steady global energy markets. He noted that, in this context, the interests of both countries appear to align. “We see actions by the United States aimed at stabilizing energy markets. In this respect, our interests coincide,” Peskov said.
The waiver marks the second major rollback of Ukraine war-related sanctions in just over a week, following US and Israeli strikes on Iran that affected shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Peskov also warned about the potential escalation of a global energy crisis and emphasized the importance of Russian oil supplies in maintaining stability in international energy markets.
Iran Won’t Close Strait of Hormuz

Amid rising tensions in the region, Iran has clarified that it does not plan to shut down the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, though vessels passing through the waterway will need to coordinate with the Iranian navy to ensure maritime security.
Iran’s UN Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani addressed the issue on Thursday, stating that Tehran has no intention of closing the vital shipping route. However, he emphasized that Iran reserves the right to safeguard peace and security in the region.
“We are not going to close the Strait of Hormuz. But it is our inherent right to preserve peace and security in this waterway,” Iravani said. He added that Iran respects and remains committed to the principle of freedom of navigation under international maritime law. At the same time, he argued that the current tensions were not the result of Iran exercising its right to self-defense but were instead triggered by what he described as destabilizing actions by the United States that have undermined regional stability.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei told Mehr News Agency that Tehran does not want the strait to become insecure, stressing its strategic importance to the country. According to Baghaei, Iran’s own security is closely linked to the stability of the region, particularly given the country’s long coastline along the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
He noted that Iran has historically borne significant costs to help protect the waterway and maintain maritime safety. However, he warned that instability created in the region by the United States and Israel could affect shipping movements. Baghaei added that while Iran does not intend to disrupt navigation, ships passing through the strait will be required to coordinate with the Iranian navy to ensure safe passage.
The situation around the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy transit route, has already sparked concerns in international markets. Fears of potential disruption have pushed global energy prices higher and raised worries about possible supply constraints.
Bangaru Bomma Song Wins Hearts

The upcoming rural love drama Godari Gattupaina, starring Sumanth Prabhas and Nidhi Pradeep, has already created a positive buzz with its teaser and previously released songs. Now, the makers have unveiled what could easily become the film’s most captivating track so far — Bangaru Bomma.

UK, US, Japan Change Visa Rules for Indians

Global travel rules for Indian passport holders are undergoing significant changes in 2026, with several countries introducing digital systems, special travel initiatives, and temporary visa relaxations. From the United Kingdom eliminating physical visa stickers to the United States launching a fast-track visa system for football fans ahead of the FIFA World Cup, the international travel landscape is evolving rapidly for Indians planning trips abroad.
The United Kingdom has officially ended the use of physical visa labels. Since February 25, 2026, the country has shifted to a fully digital eVisa system, requiring travellers to manage their visa status online. Airlines are now authorised to deny boarding to passengers who do not have valid digital travel authorisation.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, is attracting remote workers through its Digital Nomad Visa program. The initiative allows Indian citizens to live in the country for up to one year, provided applicants are above 18 years of age and earn a minimum monthly income of $2,000 from employers outside Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Armenia has opened a temporary visa-free window for certain Indian travellers. Between January 1 and July 1, 2026, Indians holding valid residence permits from the United States, European Union, Schengen countries, or GCC nations can enter Armenia visa-free and stay for up to 180 days.
In the United States, preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have led to the introduction of a special visa facilitation program. The Trump administration has launched the FIFA Prioritised Appointment Scheduling System, commonly known as the FIFA Pass, which allows confirmed World Cup ticket holders to secure priority visa interview appointments. The move aims to reduce long waiting times for non-immigrant visas such as B1/B2 visitor visas.
Japan has also introduced stricter procedures for visa applicants in South India. From March 2, 2026, walk-in applications are no longer allowed at VFS Global centres in Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, and Puducherry, and travellers must now book appointments online in advance.
On a positive note, Greece has fully resumed its visa processing operations in India. According to Global Visa Center World, all Greek Visa Application Centres across the country resumed services starting February 12, 2026.
In the education sector, France is strengthening its ties with India after a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron in February 2026. France is working toward its goal of hosting 30,000 Indian students by 2030, with discussions focused on simplifying visa procedures, reducing processing delays, and potentially introducing visa-free airport transit for select travellers.
There is also a logistical update for travellers in the national capital. Since January 12, 2026, VFS Global has shifted its processing centre for the UK, Ireland, and several Schengen countries including Denmark, Finland, and Norway to a new facility located at VFS Global House in Connaught Place, New Delhi.
These developments reflect a broader transformation in global travel systems, with digitalisation, special visa programs, and streamlined procedures shaping how Indian travellers plan their international journeys in the coming years.
H-1B, H-4 Visa Updates for Indian Professionals

US Ambassador Sergio Gor has reaffirmed that the United States continues to welcome global talent, but emphasized that rigorous border security and thorough vetting are now considered non-negotiable global standards. Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2026, he addressed concerns from thousands of Indian professionals caught in visa backlogs, clarifying that the delays are a matter of national security rather than targeting any particular country.
“Talent has been welcome in America for decades, and that isn’t changing anytime soon,” Gor said. Responding to questions on H-1B and H-4 visa delays, he stressed, “This is not specific to India. India is not being targeted.” He compared the US administration’s stance to India’s own emphasis on territorial integrity, saying, “President Trump came in with a strong mandate on securing the border, much like your Prime Minister often stresses the importance of a strong, secure border. With millions crossing our southern border, we must carefully assess who is allowed entry.”
At the same time, a new legislative effort in Washington seeks to ease the financial and regulatory burden on foreign professionals. The Welcoming International Success Act (WISA), introduced by Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, aims to dismantle the restrictive H-1B framework established in September 2025. That framework imposed a $100,000 filing fee on companies and introduced a wage-weighted lottery system, which critics argue penalized essential sectors such as healthcare and research. The WISA bill seeks to cancel the September 2025 immigration proclamation, reduce or eliminate the employer filing fee, and relax wage requirements that make hiring international talent prohibitively expensive.
The outcome of this legislative debate is particularly significant for India, which accounts for 70–75% of all H-1B visas issued annually. Currently, an estimated 7.3 lakh Indian H-1B holders reside in the US, supported by 5.5 lakh dependents.
Anushka Shetty May Tie the Knot This Year

Rumors about the marriage of Tollywood star and Arundhati fame actress Anushka Shetty have been circulating on social media for years. Now, fresh reports from industry sources suggest that the South Indian actress may finally tie the knot later this year.
According to ongoing speculation within film circles, Anushka is reportedly in a serious relationship with a businessman based in Bengaluru. While neither Anushka nor her family has officially confirmed the news, the buzz has once again reignited discussions about the actress’s personal life.
Over the years, Anushka has remained one of the most private celebrities in the South Indian film industry. Despite her massive popularity following blockbuster hits like Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali: The Conclusion, and Arundhati, she has largely kept her personal relationships away from the public eye.
Earlier, rumors frequently linked her with her Baahubali co-star Prabhas, but both actors have repeatedly dismissed the claims, clarifying that they share a close friendship and mutual respect—nothing more.
In recent years, Anushka has significantly reduced her film appearances and has become highly selective about her projects. Should her wedding plans materialize, the ceremony is expected to be a private affair, attended only by close family members and a few friends from the film industry. Given her low-profile lifestyle, insiders expect the event to be kept well away from media attention.
For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Anushka Shetty herself. Until then, speculation about her possible wedding continues to generate curiosity among admirers across the country.
Jagan Criticizes Coalition for Loans, Corruption

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday criticized the coalition government, saying the latest CAG report has exposed its lack of financial discipline.
He pointed out that the report confirmed what YSRCP has been consistently alleging: the coalition government took loans totaling Rs 3.2 lakh crore in just two years, nearly matching the borrowings of Rs 3.31 lakh crore during YSRCP’s entire five-year term. Jagan questioned the purpose of such massive borrowings, highlighting that key promises under the Super Six agenda remain unimplemented and state revenues have fallen, indicating widespread corruption in areas ranging from sand, land, mines, and liquor. He warned that escalating borrowings and fiscal deficits are attracting growing interest obligations, with no clear explanation from the ruling coalition.
Addressing a press conference, Jagan lambasted the coalition government for dodging accountability during the recently concluded 16-day Assembly session. He accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of politicizing the Tirupati issue, even though evidence points toward his administration. Jagan alleged that the budget session was misused to spread propaganda, level false accusations against the Opposition, and glorify coalition partners, while serious questions raised by the YSRCP went unanswered.
He further criticized Chandrababu for mismanagement of temples, citing tragedies like the Tirupati stampede and the recent Kadiri incident, and raised concerns about ghee adulteration. Jagan accused the coalition government of corruption in tenders, ghee supply, and accepting rejected tankers. He claimed the price of ghee was silently hiked from Rs 351 to Rs 761 per kg to benefit select individuals, while baselessly blaming the YSRCP for malpractices.
On women’s safety, Jagan dismissed Chandrababu’s claims made during the International Women’s Day event as “sham,” citing cases of atrocities committed by TDP–Jana Sena MLAs in places like Railway Koduru, Amudalavalasa, Guntur East, and Sativedu. He alleged that complaints against a minister’s PA went unaddressed, while the TTD chairman remained unaffected despite explicit evidence circulating publicly.
Jagan contrasted the coalition government’s record with YSRCP’s tenure, stating that women’s empowerment was tangible through reservations, small business facilitation, bank loans, and partnerships with multinationals. He also emphasized that farmers suffered under the coalition due to the absence of MSP and crop insurance, while YSRCP had fulfilled these promises via RBKs. Public welfare concerns like contaminated water, unsafe milk, and unhygienic hostel conditions affecting students were also highlighted as failures of the current administration.
