Yet another shock for Naidu in Kadapa?

Share

Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who engineered defection of C Adinarayana Reddy from YSR Congress party into the TDP three years ago, is paying penalty for the same.

Entry of Adinarayana Reddy into the TDP and his elevation to the post of cabinet minister has disturbed the party in Kadapa district, particularly in his native Jammalamadugu constituency.

Former minister P Ramasubba Reddy, who was defeated by Adinarayana Reddy, did not take this defection kindly and it resulted in internal differences within the party.

Though Naidu tried to bring about coordination between the two arch rivals, he could not do so and the TDP in Kadapa was vertically split between the two leaders.

In the recent elections, Naidu forced Adinarayana Reddy to contest as an MP from Kadapa parliamentary constituency and fielded Ramasubba Reddy from Jammalamadugu assembly seat.

Both Adinarayana Reddy and Ramasubba Reddy knew that they would get defeated and exactly, the same thing happened.

Soon after the collapse of the TDP in the assembly elections, one leader after the other started deserting the party, much to the disappointment of Naidu.

Finally, Adinarayana Reddy, who Naidu thought would remain loyal to him, defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The TDP chief thought the party would get back its stability with Adi’s defection, and Ramasubba Reddy would remain loyal to the party. But much to his shock, Ramasubba Reddy is said to be toying with the idea of joining the YSR Congress party.

Recently, Ramasubba Reddy happened to meet YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in Washington airport and both of them shook hands. Both of them had a brief chat.

Later, it is learnt there was a lot backroom negotiations between YSRC leaders and the former TDP minister.

Though Ramasubba Reddy reportedly clarified to Naidu that he would not leave the party, a hush talk is said to be going on in Kadapa that it is only a matter of time that the former minister will take a plunge into the YSRC.

Let us see, what is in store for the TDP in Kadapa!

AP boat with trapped bodies retrieved from Godavari

Rajahmundry (Andhra Pradesh): Thirty seven days after a private boat ferrying 77 persons sank in Godavari river in Andhra Pradesh, a search team on Tuesday retrieved the badly-mangled vessel with the highly-decomposed bodies.

A 40-member-strong team including personnel from Kakinada port and scuba divers succeeded in finally pulling out Royal Vasista near Kachuluru village in East Godavari district.

Rescue workers were in the process of retrieving the bodies, which have decayed beyond recognition. The number of bodies stuck in the boat could not be ascertained immediately.

The boat, ferrying 77 persons to tourism spot Papikondalu, capsized near Kachuluru village on September 15. While 26 tourists were rescued by villagers, the bodies of 38 others were retrieved later. Another body was found two days ago. A total of 12 people were missing.

It took more than 20 days for the search team to pull out the vessel with the help of cranes. Officials said it was slowly breaking as few parts had surfaced last week. A portion of the boat was pulled out on Monday.

The boat was spotted at a depth of 215 feet but rains and heavy flow of water had hampered the salvage operation. Braving the bad weather, the team led by Dharmadi Satyam had been working relentlessly for last few days to retrieve the vessel and bring it to the shore.

The team including expert swimmers used heavy machinery including cranes, iron cable, country boats, motor boats and punts.

The state government has already ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. The boat owner and operator were arrested for operating the boat despite ban on boat operations in the floods.

5 Things to Know About Cricket Trend in India

Share

Cricket is wildly popular in the UK and Australia, but did you know this sport also sparked a craze in India? It seems to be played in every corner of the country, surpassing football, baseball, and wrestling in popularity.

The international cricket fan community and professionals may still look down on Indian athletes, but this is hardly fair.

Even the ICC has recently sparked criticism when it wrote “The greatest cricketer of all time and – Sachin Tendulkar” as a quote for an image of English celebrity player Ben Stokes receiving a memento from Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Twitter is often filled with similar spiteful comments about cricket, as Stumped app says, however, if you consider the following facts, you will see the unfair nature of such treatment.

Here are five amazing facts about Indian cricket that may surprise you.

Fact 1. India has 90 percent of all cricket fans.
This sounds astounding and implausible, but it is true. The number of fans worldwide has reached one billion, and Indians account for the vast majority. The sub-continent is addicted to cricket, according to market studies conducted by the ICC.

What are the reasons for such popularity? First of all, cricket is understandable and easily affordable for everyone. It does not cost much to play it. Basically, all you need is a ball and a bat. Interestingly, the majority of young players begin the practice by playing gully cricket in their local area. This variation is played with a taped or tennis ball, unlike the leather ball in the big game.

Another major reason is the appearance of excellent Indian batsmen. Such cricketers as Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, and Anil Kumble, are in the spotlight of the cricket media in the country. Sachin Tendulkar is even referred to as the national God of Cricket.

Naturally, aspiring cricketer often perceives these players as their role models and sources of inspiration. Their achievements are amazing enough to appeal to the non-playing audience as well, and live matches keep millions of viewers glued to their screens. Indians like to argue about comparisons of famous cricketers and keep track of the stats.

Fact 2. The Indian national team has amazing World Cup results.
It won the World Cup in 20-Over, 50-Over, and 60-Over as well. This means India is still the only country that has ever managed to make this achievement. In terms of 60-Over, the only other team that has ever won is from the West Indies.

Previously, their cricketers emerged victorious from the 2012 World T20 in Sri Lanka, but they have not secured a 50-Over World Cup winning the title yet. The major international tournaments have caused the surge of popularity and elevation of team members to celebrity status.

Fact 3. IPL is the most popular T20 league in the world.
Following victories won by Indian cricketers in T20, the Indian Premier League emerged thanks to the BCCI’s efforts. Currently, it has the biggest number of fans on the planet. Indians are attracted to the blend of sports and entertainment.

IPL is only getting more popular, and even Bollywood celebrities put off film releases fearing insufficient attention to their works in the light of the IPL playing. The trend has helped to take the game to smaller centers in the country, like Ranchi or Bhubaneshwar.

Fact 4. BCC is incredibly powerful.
Simply put, this Indian organization is the most powerful and richest cricket board of all. It functions independently of Government funding and can influence the ICC in their decisions. This was obvious in the situation with possible DRS deployment.

Even the ICC headquarters are now in Dubai. The move away from London reflects the importance of BCCI as an economic force in the cricket world. BCCI cooperates with big brands for sponsorship, providing financial support to different tournaments in the country. The country has turned into a large cricket base. Currently, the ICC has Shashank Manohar as chairman. Previously, he was President of BCCI.

Fact 5. Indian fans love Batsmen more than Bowlers.
This observation has always been true but is particularly noticeable now. Batsmen become national heroes, while bowlers get little credit. The biggest name in Indian batting is Sachin Tendulkar, also known as “The Little Master”.

Over two decades, he has managed to secure the title of the highest run-scorer in history. In 2014, after his retirement, he received the highest civilian honor in India — the Bharat Ratna award — for his incredible cricket feats.

Today, the batsmen most close to Tendulkar in terms of popularity is captain Virat Kohli. In fact, he is now considered the most popular player on the planet because of all the Facebook likes and Twitter followers. As a batsman, Kohli fits the style of his famed predecessors.

Hyd: Fire at Children’s Hospital, Baby Dies

Share

A four-month-old baby died due to suffocation in an incubator after a fire broke in NICU at Shine Hospital in L.B.nagar, Hyderabad. Four other infants have reportedly sustained burn injuries and shifted to a nearby hospital. The fire broke out due to short circuit in the AC unit inside NICU.

The fire department official said that the hospital is not attentive with any of the fire safety equipment as none of them is functioning. Nearly at 3.00 am on Monday, the third floor of Shine hospital has been caught fire and more than 48 patients were in the hospital at the time.

After investigation, the shocking facts are out that the room did not even have a smoke detector or a fire alarm. Moreover, hospital staff and management have no knowledge of fire accidents or trained in such situations. There was also no emergency fire exit staircase. In spite of 20 years of the hospital, the negligence has now claimed an innocent’s life.

“It was a small fire but as it was an AC room, the staff did not know how to open the vent to let the smoke out. The booster pumps at the hospital were not functioning and nor did anyone know how to operate it,” the fire official said.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) issued a notice to the Hospital and the Directorate of Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management (EV&DM) under the GHMC, asked the management to submit a copy of its sanction plan, a copy of the building occupancy certificate, a copy of the trade license and the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Department and a copy of the property tax paid.

With this unfortunate incident, the state government is all set to act against buildings without fire safety in Hyderabad and EV&DM Director Vishwajit Kampati said that similar notices would be issued to 1,600 hospitals over a few days.

Saw Alia-Ranbir’s Wedding Card? It’s Fake

Share

Bollywood opened to a quick gossip today morning that the ‘wedding date’ of heroine Alia Bhatt with her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor got fixed to January 22, 2020. At a time when the star heroine is busy saying that career comes first and marriage could wait, here comes the wedding card.

Apparently the wedding card reads that Jan 22 is the date and Umaid Bhavan Palace in Jodhpur is the venue of the wedding. But this ‘wedding card’ could be as fake as it sounds, as spelling mistakes like “Jan 22th” and “Aliya” are clearly indicating that someone did this in a rush. Because a wedding card of India’s top star is expected to be mistake-free.

With Bollywood media’s rushing to Alia for clarification over the same, sources close to her actually rubbished the card as a fake one as she is not getting married any sooner. At the same time, Ranbir’s friends also dubbed it as a fake card created by gossip mills.

Finally, Kachuluru boat is Out. Good Job Satyam!

Share

At least 56 tourists were feared dead after a boat was capsized in Godavari river on September 15. Around 26 people were rescued from the boat which sank deep in waters near the town of Kachuluru.

After around 38 days of boat salvage operation, Dharmadi Satyam group has finally extracted the shattered boat and few dead bodies on Tuesday afternoon. The bodies rescued now are said to be struck in AC section of the ferry.

Apart from Satyam group, this operation involved the efforts of deep scuba divers, NDRF, SDRF teams, state officials and local swimmers. From last 1 week, Satyam group is attempting to pull out the boat from deep river using long ropes and they had stop the search operation for a day or two due to heavy rains.

Kachuluru is considered to be the deepest area in Godavari river and also, the intensity of water speed is quite high in this region. Amidst high amount of criticism from opposition parties like TDP, BJP and Jana Sena, the state government have instructed officials to not stop the rescue operation until the boat is extracted from river.

This salvage operation by Satyam and his 25 member team has costed AP government around 22.7 lakhs.

#BaahubaliInLondon: ‘Telugu’ Pride Missing!

Share

At a time when PM Modi is busy hosting Bollywood celebs and calling them as Indian Cinema’s representatives, Telugu people felt proud that at least “Baahubali 1” is being screened at Royal Albert Music Hall with Philharmonic Orchestra playing the background score live.

However, certain Telugu folks are quick to point out that Bollywood is taking away this credit too, as they have not screened the Telugu version of the movie there. The Hindi version of the film that was presented by Karan Johar and Anil Thadani actually got screened at Royal Albert Hall with English subtitles.

While many Telugu folks present at the venue enjoyed Hindi version as well, some expressed their dismay that a Hindi version is screened rather a Telugu version. Even on social media, few folks have shared video clips from the screening, explaining that Hindi version has presented as if Baahubali is a Bollywood movie.

This will be a never-ending discussion as to who is getting credit, but Telugu people should feel proud that all the chieftains of Baahubali that are present on the stage including Rajamouli, Prabhas, Rana, Keeravani and Shobhu Yarlagadda are all Telugu people only.
