Sandeep Reddy Vanga on Censor Ratings and Kingdom’s Certification

Acclaimed filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his intense storytelling style, recently opened up about the challenges of film certification and its impact on a movie’s box-office potential. All three of his previous films received an ‘A’ certificate, and he admitted that such ratings, while not affecting critical success, have caused noticeable revenue losses as per feedback from distributors.
Sandeep’s remarks came during a promotional interview for the upcoming pan-India film Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Gautham Tinnanuri. As part of the build-up to the film’s July 31 release, Sandeep joined Vijay and Gautham to discuss the censor process and how certification decisions can influence a movie’s reach, particularly among younger audiences.
Sharing his impressions after watching 45 minutes to an hour of Kingdom, Sandeep said he is confident that the film will comfortably receive a U/A certificate. While Vijay expressed some concern over the intense action sequences in the second half, wondering if they might attract an ‘A’ rating, Sandeep clarified that violence alone doesn’t determine certification.
“Kingdom is driven more by emotional depth than violence,” he explained. “Its core revolves around brotherhood, with Satyadev playing Vijay’s elder brother, and that emotional connect makes it a strong case for a U/A certificate.”
Drawing from his own career, Sandeep acknowledged that his films—despite becoming massive blockbusters—have always been classified as ‘A’, limiting younger audiences and affecting revenues.
The conversation also touched on his highly anticipated project Spirit with Rebel Star Prabhas. Sandeep revealed that shooting for Spirit will commence in September and will progress on a non-stop schedule, marking one of the most awaited collaborations in Indian cinema.

The young sensation is now gearing up for his next big-screen spectacle, Mirai, directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni. After creating a buzz with its promos, the makers have now dropped the film’s first single, “Vibe Undi.”
Composed by Gowra Hari, the song is an electrifying mix of modern beats and traditional saxophone sounds, offering a fresh musical experience. Armaan Malik’s energetic vocals add charm to the track, enhancing its festive tone.
Visually, “Vibe Undi” is a treat. Shot against a stylish urban backdrop, the song highlights Teja Sajja in a dashing ponytail look. His effortless moves, confidence, and swag make him the undeniable star of the screen. Ritika Nayak adds elegance to the visuals, complementing the vibe, but it’s Teja who owns every frame. Backed by People Media Factory and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad, Mirai is set for a grand release on September 5th. With “Vibe Undi,” the excitement around the film has reached a whole new level.
