Palnadu issue: How Jagan’s media advisors failed!

Share

YSR Congress party government headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy might be claiming to have successfully prevented opposition leader and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s attempt to take out a rally to Palnadu to create a big hungama there on Wednesday.

But what it failed to realize was that Naidu has got what he wanted: massive publicity in local and national media.

While YSRC leaders have confined themselves to addressing press conferences that got little publicity, the entire media focus was only on Naidu and his high drama.

The Chalo Atmakur rally of Naidu, aimed at giving a moral boost to the cadre, caught the attention of the national media.

Generally, regional parties, that too which had faced debacle in the elections, hardly get any coverage in the national media.

But the Chalo Atmakur rally attracted the national media’s attention. Reason: the YSRC government chose to keep Naidu and his son Lokesh, besides a large number of TDP leaders under house arrest.

All these days, the media was agog with the reports of house arrest of opposition leaders in Jammu and Kashmir.

When Naidu and his men were kept under house arrest, the national media found similarities between AP and Kashmir and thought something sensational might have happened in Andhra. So, they came running to AP.

They not only gave extensive coverage to his house arrest right from the morning, they also went to Atmakuru to dig into the ground situation in Palnadu region.

It was a big news of the day for the national channels and newspapers. The channels conducted a live debate on Chalo Atmakuru issue, which was unprecedented.

Thus, Naidu successfully managed to ensure that the issue got the national attention. And the media gave a huge build-up to his arrest and the Palnadu issue, as if it was a national issue.

On the other hand, Jagan’s media managers have miserably failed to catch this point.

One does not know whether anything would have happened had Naidu been allowed to take out a rally to Atmakuru, but by denying him the chance and keeping him under house arrest projected the Jagan government in a bad light.

And the so-called national media advisors of Jagan could not give proper advices to him and remained mute spectators when the TDP was hogging all the limelight.

“When Jagan was in the opposition, he did not have any media advisors. Yet, his padayatra and his speeches had got tremendous coverage in the media. Now, with so many PROs and advisors around him, he failed to counter the opposition propaganda. It is very unfortunate,” a senior journalist commented.

Trollers Feasting On iPhone 11 Design

Share

One more year passed and Apple launched one more version of its flagship iPhone at a keynote presentation as usual. As the company launched iPhone11 models other day, trollers had a feast as they made fun of the phone’s latest features.

Generally speaking, Apple’s plan to add one more camera such that users will get an ultra-wide-angle picture, hasn’t gone well with trollers. Taking a dig at Apple’s three-lens design, some netizens are now sharing photoshopped images, indicating that iPhone20 might have lens all over the backside of the phone.

Guess what, rival OnePlus has joined the trolling bandwagon as the company pointed out that Apple missed the 90Hz refreshing screen in their latest version of iPhone. “What a day to be using a 90 Hz display”, the company tweeted, indirectly making fun of Apple.

Also, Pakistan’s Malala Yousufzai who now lives in the UK shared a picture of her mirror-work skirt, that has three mirrors together as a motif, and asked if iPhone11 and her dress design are a coincidence.

What Is The Connection Between Priya And Vikram?

Share

Few directors have few tastes and some show that when it comes to naming their heroes and heroines in their movies. Back then, VV Vinayak used to name most of his heroine characters as Nandini. Then we have Trivikram using two word names of his heroes like Viraaj Anand, Anand Vihari, Abhishikt Bhargav and many more.

Here comes director Vikram K Kumar who is now naming most of his heroines with the name Priya. Though Vikram’s first three films have different names, his next film 13B has the heroine named as Priya. Since then, heroines in Ishq, Manam, 24, Hello and now in Gang Leader are named Priya only. That brings us to the question, what is the connection between Priya and Vikram.

Though many say that it might be his ex-girlfriend’s name, people close to him revealed that it is just a sentiment as 13B became his first hit after a lot of struggles and that film has the heroine named as Priya. At a time when films hold lot of emotional and sentimental scenes, why not the directors have a pinch of sentiments at least?

Vikram’s Gang Leader is hitting cinemas tomorrow, Sep 13th.

They want to kick start promotions in Telugu arena with the pre-release event set for September 15th, but it looks there is a massive change in plan.

As Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy hails from Kurnool region, the makers thought that they will host the pre-release event in Kurnool on September 15th. Jagan’s New Year Gift: New Districts In AP?

Share

Andhra Pradesh government is planning for the chances of districts and might bring in twelve new districts by 2020 Republic Day i.e, on January 26th. CM YS Jagan has reportedly directed the officials to look into the prospects of district re-organisation.

According to the government sources, Jagan proposed to make each Lok Sabha segment as a district. The number of Lok Sabha seats in AP is 25 and currently, the state has 13 districts which means there are more chances of forming twelve new districts. Jagan informed the officials to complete this process in four months and also take the opinions of people, politicians and other organisations.

Regarding the new districts, CM Jagan is said to have dialed AP Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan in advance. Jagan believes that by forming new districts, the administration can be de-centralised and so the implementation of welfare schemes will be hassle free.

There are demands from Rayalaseema and Uttara (North) Andhra since very long time. The officials might take their views into consideration.

#SaveNallamala: Pawan’s Tweet On Bangaru Telangana

Share

Janasena Party President Pawan Kalyan has stepped up his fight against the proposed uranium mining in the Nallamala forest region in the Nagarkurnool district of Telangana. After expressing his support for the cause through media a couple of days ago, Pawan once again lent his support to the the #SaveNallamala campaign via Twitter last night.

“Will we give a Bangaru Telangana or uranium pollution-ridden Telangana to our future generations? Political leaders must introspect,” Pawan tweeted last night, targeting the Telangana government directly. Pawan also quoted a statement by the then Chief of Seattle in the year 1852 which reads, “Earth doesn’t belong to man, man belongs to Earth.”

Senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao had sought Pawan’s support to the fight a couple of days ago. The Janasena chief had said that uranium mining would generate radon which may cause lung cancer and kidney diseases in people, especially pregnant women, living across the Nallamala forest by the Krishna River.

Pawan is known for his unlimited enthusiasm in the beginning and then slowly fizzling out in a few days. The big question now is whether Pawan will brave the Telangana government and fight through the #SaveNallamala campaign and stop the uranium mining? Will he be a saviour to over 70,000 people in 48 villages in Telangana that are facing the pollution threat?

Social Buzz: Bigg Boss Making Them Scapegoats!

Share

A wild card contestant is one of the most interesting aspects of the reality show Bigg Boss.

Introducing a widely popular and crazy contestant into the house after few weeks instils fear into the minds of contestants. They fear elimination because of the new entry and as a result change their game strategies accordingly.

But Bigg Boss season 3 has been a disaster in terms of choosing wild card entries.

First they had introduced a transwoman Tamanna Simhadri, who couldn’t control her emotions and got kicked out of the house when she was nominated for the first time. Then they chose Ex Television anchor Shilpa Chakravarthy as the wild card.

Lacking in confidence and totally out of shape Shilpa failed to impress audience in anyway.

No wonder she is currently lagging behind all the nominated contestants. She will be evicted from the house in this weekend for sure.

Bigg Boss has simply made them scapegoats to extend the stay of their existing contestants.

The show organisers should be unbiased towards the contestants, but they are clearly in favor of few contestants like Srimukhi and Punarnavi, allege fans.

Dil Raju on a Remaking Spree

Share

What’s common among Tamil movie “96”, Telugu film “Jersey” and Bollywood movie “Badhaai Ho”?

Well, all of them are currently getting remade in other languages. More importantly, all are going to be produced by Dil Raju.

Dil Raju is buying the remaking rights of various movies that he liked and producing them again in other languages.

Tamil romantic drama “96” featuring Sharwanand and Samantha is being produced into Telugu by Dil Raju.

He also now bagged the remake rights of “Baadhaai Ho” to remake it with Naga Chaitanya in Telugu.

Interestingly, he is foraying into Bollywood with a remake movie. He bought the rights of Nani-starrer “Jersey” to produce in Bollywood with Shahid Kapoor. He is producing this Bollywood movie in coordination with Allu Aravind.

Let us see whether Dil Raju will hit the jackpot with these remakes.

Crazy Director Give Up On Mahesh Babu!

Share

Sandeep Vanga, who has become a sensation in both Telugu and Hindi cinema industries with his debut film Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh, has decided to make his next film in Bollywood.

He was in talks with Mahesh Babu until Kabir Singh released. In fact, the sensational director has narrated a storyline to the Telugu Superstar, but he hasn’t responded yet.

Sandeep has given up on working with Mahesh and met Bollywood Superstar Ranbir Kapoor and pitched him a crime thriller idea.

Ranbir is reportedly impressed with it and agreed to be a part of it. Bhushan Kumar who produced Kabir Singh will be bankrolling this film along with a couple of other producers.

However, Ranbir is currently busy with big ticket films Samshera and Brahmastra. It will take a while for Sandeep Reddy to start this film, but he is okay with it.

Looks like our talented filmmaker would settle down in Bollywood so that his ideas would reach wider audience.

Jayalalitha’s Biopic Takes Backseat?

Share

Kangana Ranaut’s biopic on Tamil Nadu’s former chief minister, the late Jayalalithaa, seems to have hit a roadblock and the makers have postponed it for now.

Just a few days back, Ranaut’s ‘Thalaivi’ was in the news after powerhouse Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon announced a web series based on Jayalalithaa, and called it ‘Queen’, taking his competition with Ranaut head on.

But that might not be the only reason, as we hear that Ranaut’s project has not been able to raise the required funds.

It was said to be made at a budget of Rs 55 crore and in three languages – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Ranaut herself was rumoured to get paid Rs 20 crore.

But it seems the film will have to wait for a while before the cameras roll.

Harish Gearing Up For Pawan’s Film?

Share

Director Harish Shankar is busy promoting his “Valmiki” featuring Varun Tej in the lead role that is up for release on September 20.

The film has successfully generated a huge buzz around it, thanks to stunning trailers and promotional material. What next for him?

We learned that Harish Shankar will start working on the script for Pawan Kalyan.

The Jana Sena leader has plans to make a comeback to films early next year, with a Harish Shankar’s film.

Production house Mythri Movie Makers has already arranged a formal meeting between Harish Shankar and Pawan Kalyan last month.

Even though Pawan Kalyan will continue his political stint, he will also do movies for another two years. He wants to connect with the current generation of voters with his movies and rebuild his image.

It was Harish Shankar’s “Gabbar Singh” that brought Pawan Kalyan back on the path of success after a string of flops. “Gabbar Singh” reinvented the brand ‘Pawan Kalyan’.

With Harish Shankar’s “Valmiki” creating all the hype, Pawan Kalyan is in favor of returning to films under his direction.

Harish, however, has to convince the Powerstar with the right script.

Sukumar Speeds up Work for Bunny’s film

Share

Notwithstanding the rumours around him, director Sukumar is silently working on his film with Allu Arjun.

Keeping himself away from the din of Hyderabad’s Film Nagar, Sukumar is in Chennai to record a couple of songs for the movie that is tentatively called #AA20.

This action drama will be launched on October 3, which happens to be Panchami, an auspicious day as per Telugu calendar.

Till last week, there were rumours that went viral suggesting that the film has been stalled but Sukumar didn’t want to respond to them. He believes that his film, once it goes onto the sets next month, will silence all wagging tongues.

Sukumar plans to begin the regular shoot with the songs first. He did shoot super hit “Yentha Sakkagunnave” for “Rangasthalam” in the very initial schedule. He is repeating the same method for Allu Arjun’s film as well.

This new film is set in the backdrop of Seshachalam forests in Chittoor district with smuggling of red sanders is the core plot. Allu Arjun will be seen in a drastically different avatar.

Saaho Effect: Sye Raa Couldn’t Get A Fancy Price Tag!

Share

Rs. 15 Crore for the overseas rights of a film featuring a big star is decent. But given the high budget of Sye Raa, getting only Rs. 15 Crore from overseas rights is a bit of a burden to its producer.

However, the recent trend in overseas market and the disastrous performance of Saaho at North America box office has made it tough for Sye Raa.

With buyers not willing to pay anything above Rs.15 crore, producer Ram Charan had to finally give in and agree to the distributor’s final quote.

Phars Films that bought the distribution rights of Saaho has bought the rights of Sye Raa.

The film will have to collect around Rs. 10 Crore share in North America to be a safe venture. Means the breakeven mark would be around $3 Million.

Saaho could collect that much with disastrous talk, but it had Pan India appeal with Hindi version contributing a lot to it.

Although Rs. 15 Crore doesn’t seem enough for a magnum opus like Sye Raa, overseas distributors cannot risk more than that going by the recent trends.

Yash Raj Films distributed Saaho in North America, but Telugu distributors like Great India Films, Blue Sky and Weekend Cinema are willing to release it.
